Did the review a year ago. Had to visit Greensboro again for hubby's business trip. It was very disappointing this time due to the stir fry Seafood Udon. When the server brought the dish to us, it was completely plain with no visible seafood. Since it's my husband's go to dish back in Atlanta when it comes to good Japanese food, I was in shock for him and start digging around thinking maybe some seafood was at the bottom. Unfortunately, the only seafood was about 3 tiny pieces of scallops, some fish cakes and imitation crab meats. I tried to confirm with the server and she said that's how they fix the Seafood Udon. Hubby did not want to wait to switch out to another dish - was thankful the server offered to see if we want to switch to something else but we ended up to sticking to what we ordered. Both the Udon and Ramen are very salty. The ramen is decent but missing authentic ingredients such as bamboo and black fungus. The sushi is the best part with very little rice and mainly fresh ingredients and good quality - we ordered the avocado with Eel as well as fresh salmon with avocado rolls. We will NOT go for any of the noodle dishes IF we ever visit again (most likely not). But to be fair, if you like sushi, it is will worth it to order them.

This place was amazing for sure. I got the fried tofu and the spicy oil ramen with pork belly and everything was just how I wanted it! The server was very friendly and I was happy to see the servers being able to chat with each other and act like human beings in their down time. Too many places nowadays expect employees to only act like service drones. Anyways, the food was great. The tofu was delightfully crisp and piping hot fresh from the fryer. The pork belly was plain which I wanted to be displeased by, but the flavor of the pork belly was able to shine from the simplicity. It was crisp, the fat was melting and buttery which highlighted the sweet savoriness of the pork belly meat. The egg was perfectly jammy and had a rich soy sauce taste. The broth was a lil unsalted for my tastes but it was a rich and creamy so I can tell a lot of care went into it. The prices are... you get what you pay for, I'd say. It costs a bit because it's good, homemade stuff. Not the kinda cost I can afford on a frequent basis but definitely a place you oughta treat yourself to sometimes.

Black Garlic ramen- with shrimp. If you're a fan of noodles, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by an inviting atmosphere that perfectly sets the tone for the meal ahead. The menu is a ramen lover’s dream, with a wide variety of options, each one more tempting than the last. Everything is perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of chew and texture. Whether you opt for the rich, savory broth-based dishes or dumplings each bite is an explosion of flavor. The broth is clearly made with care, rich and deeply satisfying, with just the right balance of spices and umami. The toppings—tender meats, fresh vegetables, and herbs—are generous and complement the noodles in every dish. The portions are hearty, ensuring you leave full and satisfied, but not overly stuffed. Service is attentive and friendly, always with a smile, and they’re happy to offer recommendations or adjust dishes to your preferences. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates great food, exceptional flavors, and a welcoming vibe!

I found this place yesterday when I had a mad craving for ramen and didn't feel like driving an hour to Raku in Clemmons. It is seriously the best ramen I've ever had. We've have the black garlic and the spicy red oil. Both amazing and the flavor was so strong without being too much. No competition when it comes to the pork dumplings. It is so hard to season pork, and the shrimp dumplings? I feel like shrimp dumplings always lose their flavor when steamed. Not these. You have to try the shrimp and pork dumplings. It's a must. They will probably be the best ones you've ever had. We even got two orders to take home. We also had the Bao buns with pork and they were delicious! Their sushi is a tiny bit more expensive than some of the other sushi places around here, but it tastes like better quality. Like, a solid difference in the quality here than somewhere else. It's that obvious in taste and texture. I am more than willing to pay the extra dollar or two for this fish. As for the service, I've only interacted with two people. A blonde-ish woman who has greeted and given me take out. She's so freaking nice. And the young lady who waited on us today around 4:45. I think she said her name was Lillian but I'm terrible with names. SHE'S SO FREAKING NICE TOO! Seriously! and everybody seemed to be happy and chatting and getting along. I love seeing that in a place I'm going to. Happy staff! When the sushi chef was preparing our order, you could even see that he was focusing on getting it right and looked like he enjoyed what he was doing. It made me feel really good about eating here. My only compliant was that I've had a Dr. Pepper here twice and both times something tasted off. Maybe low CO2 or whacky syrup, but my boyfriend's tea was perfectly sweet and refreshing. If my only compliant can possibly be the soda....well, you need to eat here. It's amazing. The food, the staff, the whole...

Let me start out by saying the food was AMAZING. THE SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE!!! My best friend and my child and I went on Wednesday night (7/19/23). We were greeted and seated by a nice lady and our waiter came to the table with the worst look on his face. He was not friendly at all and ignored my 7 year old little girl (who is not messy and very well behaved by the way). My best friend and i work and have been working in the food service industry for 15 years so we are very generous over tippers and we know what it can be like. That guy didn't make eye contact or smile or act friendly to us at all. We never recieved drink refills. HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HALF THE MENU WAS and we ordered something to go and he never even rang it in to be made. THEN TO ROUND IT ALL UP AT THE END OF OUR MEAL WE WERE INFORMED WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY CASH OR BE OK WITH PUTTING OUR CARD INFORMATION ON SOMEONES PERSONAL CELL PHONE AS OUR PAYMENT BECAUSE THEY FAILED TO TELL US THAT THEIR CARD READER IS DOWN. Thats the kind of thing you tell someone when they first come in. We had no cash so we had to be ok with our card info going into someones personal phone for payment. Not ok. Then as we were walking out my sweet child waved at the waiter and said goodbye and he looked at her and walked away. So rude. Food was a 10 but service was stressful and depressing so i...

I normally don't like to give out five stars. Since I very scarcely find that any restaurant has what I would consider a perfect dining experience. This is also the same reason I don't tend to give one star reviews. As long as I get my food you'll typically get at least two stars. Hokkaido however is a rare case. A true hidden gem that I find myself coming back to frequently. I write this review immediately after trying ramen at a different place, which, while tasty only served to prove that I'd much rather have a bowl of black garlic ramen from Hokkaido. Not a single bowl of ramen even comes close. Not only that but their sushi is also top notch. From the basic California roll to my personal favorite, the Godzilla roll, there is something for everyone to enjoy here. When your basic rolls and entrees exceed specialty meals at other restaurants, that's when you know you've found a special place. With a price point of around $50 if you get two bowls of ramen and a simple roll, the price is not half bad either. For some that may be a bit pricey but for the amount of food you get alongside it's one of a kind taste it is well worth the money. If you see this review and are on the fence, I implore you to take the plunge and try this place because you will most certainly...
