I wish i can give it 0 stars. Firstly let me say I hate this, because we never wanna take accountably instead we like to say the person is bashing a black owned business, and that’s not the case here. However I Am livid. Today me and my family who’s not from Greensboro went to lux because I raved about how the food is good. However the service was Unacceptable from the moment that we got on the waiting list from the time that we sat down til the time that the rest of my party paid for their meal. I watched the manager ( The one who Appears to have Speech impediment) allow some girls that he knew personally to jump the the line, and they were a party of four they spoke Amongst each other that he told them to come up there and now he’s telling them 30 minutes but they’re not waiting 30 minutes, so he later come get them, and that’s unfair, because there was parties of two who was waiting way before they ever enter the restaurant. I had a party of eleven and we were Not informed that they didn’t have a table available to accommodate our party at the moment so they took it Upon themselves sit us at separate tables when we came to celebrate someone’s birthday. The Waitress comes over and we let her know that we want to sit together so she tells us that they do not have a table so we accept her offer to push the tables together. Later that same, Manager comes over and says “ what in the hell yall got going on with our tables yall have to pull them back apart” not in a nasty manner, but its unprofessional. So we make him aware that the server told us to pull it together, and he replies “what waiter I'm the Manager here yall have to slide them back” so we do so because were all communicating that we wouldn’t be back to the establishment for multiple reasons. So I go to the bathroom to wash my hands when the food come out which I specifically warned the waitress that because we had a large party don’t wait for everyone food to come up to bring it out. You can bring it out one by one because by it sitting in the back which we experience just a weeks ago on a sunday cold food. My food was room temperature which gives me an indication that it set, so because I was already irritated with the whole situation I decided to just wait until she took care of everyone else, and when she got back to ask if we wanted to go boxes, I let her know that I wouldn’t be taking my food home because I expected my food hot & it wasn't hot. Her poor excuse why my food was room temperature was due to the fact that I was in the bathroom. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and I returned back to the table. I was not gone for long for my food to be cold. She then tell me someone in the back told her to tell me that they’ll just make me fresh food to go Because they couldn’t take it off, and I never ate any of it.I felt the food with my bare hands and i peeled back a piece of chicken to touch the inside to see if it was hot and it wasn’t, so she takes the food back and comes out in about 5 minutes and hands to go tied bag so I checked it because it was too quick and when I opened it, it appears that they warm the sides up, or gave me new sides and gave me the same cold chicken that I had and I knew that it was the same chicken because it was still the same temperature and like I stated before I opened the chicken to see if it was hot they gave me that same chicken back. So I go find the owner and make him aware of the situation and he literally negate my feelings as returning customer. While I understand that this is a business but to try to make me pay for a meal that I literally did not even taste. Just felt that it was hot with my bare hands. It’s unacceptable although I agreed For them to remake the food to go because they told me they cant take the food off. I would've respected them more if they dropped my chicken back in some hot grease and then gave it to me, and said was fresh but to tie my food up in the bag and not think that I was going to check it before I left, pure bullshit and try to make me pay...

We texted our reservations on a Sunday Mach 12 for a Saturday brunch. All seemed okay as we updated them of our party reducing from 8 to 6 a few hours prior to arrival so that there were no surprises. We arrived and checked in 3 min past 2pm. The website enforces the common “all in party must be present” seating policy. We were denied seating on account of two in our party holding the door open for other patrons arriving at the same time. A man (presumably management), apparently denied them entry. We politely asked if he was “manning” the door (at this time, we were trying to discern if he was a guest or with the restaurant) and his response was combative and defensive about managing the crowd and not letting “flies in”. So it became evident that he indeed was “manning” the door and delayed our seating by insisting that the remainder of our party stay outdoors. He also did not attempt to understand nor engage with us as to why we asked the question to begin with - we were simply trying to give him insight that the host was waiting for the 2 men he refused to permit indoors. His poor reaction to our inquiry made Luxe miss the very opportunity to have cleared the foyer which seemed to have been its concern at that time.
The website explicitly states the desired attire. We respectfully adhered to the same, arrived timely, were spoken to harshly but then discovered that patrons came dressed in the very items which were prohibited on Luxe’s website. If you have a strict reservation policy, strict seating policy, and a strict dress code, then why enforce 2 of these but not the other?
We may have missed it on the website or menu but, there is auto-gratuity of not 18% or 20% but 22% for the party and a 90 minute dining limit. The food overall was decent (fish and grits were actually quite tasty), but unremarkable (chicken was overly dry and waffles distinctively tasted like a box mixture having no added ingredients to elevate them).
Its outward presentation is that Luxe desires to attract those who will stimulate positive guest interactions and it wants to promote an overall “Luxe” dining experience. On March 18 in the 2’clock hour - it was a hard miss and this culmination of events damaged the potential for our ongoing support. August 11, 2024 visit My out-of-town family wanted to visit, but we did not share our prior bad experience with them and decided to give Luxe another shot. Long sigh...disappointed-again. I walked in and just stood at the entrance waiting for just over 15 minutes, and the host completely avoided eye contact with anyone in the line. He seemed overwhelmed, and we could hear those in the waiting area complaining of their 2pm reservation, and they still hadn't been seated (it was 2:43 pm). By the time my family parked and got in, it was closer to 3pm. The host never acknowledged those waiting - not giving an estimated wait time nor whether they were still seating new guests. Its Staff doesn't properly manage guests' expectations, and it appears understaffed (based upon chatter between servers). We sooo badly want to support this business, but it's a consistent failure. The only redemption is that we saw plenty of "carry out" plates, so the food is...
Read moreI have had TWO negative experiences and I’ll never go back to this restaurant, even if someone else pays. I don’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. It’s overhyped, the food is not that good and the staff have terrible attitudes. On May 18, I found HAIR in my macaroni. Not much I could do about it outside of not eat it because my employer paid, bought it for me, and picked it up from the restaurant. On June 3, I met my coworkers for staff lunch. They placed my order along with theirs even though I was arriving late, yet somehow my food still came well after everyone else… they were already eating while I was waiting on my food and having a disagreement with the waiter and bartender about my drink. I asked for a peach spiked lemonade, the menu said it includes “Ciroc peach, lemon deep Eddy’s, Luxe lemonade, peach purée”. The waiter said “I don’t think we have all of the ingredients for that, let me check with the bartender”. He brought back what looked like a regular lemonade garnished with blueberries. I asked whether this was my drink because it looked like nothing that was described and he said it was. I tried twice to explain my issue, but the waiter kept talking over me or walking off as I’m speaking. My coworker ordered a Strawberry Mule that included a strawberry purée; you could clearly see the strawberry purée floating within the drink. Anyway, I told the waiter to take the drink back because it’s not as described and he got the bartender who came out aggressively with an attitude “I heard you have a problem with the drink”, calling me “sweetheart” and “baby”… so patronizing and condescending. I pointed out that the drink was not as described on the menu and she interrupted saying that it was. I said “there’s no peach purée, the waiter told me you didn’t have all the ingredients before even bringing it out”, but the bartender wasn’t trying to hear it and her energy was so negative. She replied “It’s actually a peach SYRUP, but I don’t put a lot so it doesn’t overpower the drink”. At this point, I’m tired of being GASLIT and she offered to make a different drink. I asked for the exact same drink as my coworker, something with ACTUALLY purée or ingredients as described on the menu. She brought that drink out but it didn’t taste good either. At this point, I asked for my food (that I still hadn’t received) to be put in a to-go box, because I was over the entire experience. When I got back to the office, my food didn’t taste good nor could I enjoy if after the experience that I had. I didn’t trust having put anything from that place inside my body, so I threw the remainder away. Again, I’ll never go here again, I’ll never ask anyone to bring me anything back, and I don’t recommend wasting your time, energy, or money here when there’s plenty of other places to go where you can have a...
