Dined on Monday, February 21, 2022. Where do I begin? We were greeted upon entry and requested a high top table, as we prefer these tables over the “train like seating” that runs down the middle of the restaurant. The hostess stated that she could not seat us there, due to there not being a server that could take care of us. She then seated us in the “train section” right beside of the table we requested. Rather odd I thought, but we accepted. The server arrived and was very hesitant in her approach. We ordered our first round of drinks and waited, and waited, and waited. The server returned and took our order, we ordered 3 sirloins and the ribs. Still waiting on drinks to arrive. Ok, we ordered a glass of wine, Tito’s and grapefruit and a Moscow mule. Again, the server returned and stated that the bartender could not make my drink because they did not have grapefruit juice, odd, but ok. She asked if I’d like something different and I asked what the Sam Adam’s Seasonal on draft was and she said she just knew that it was on draft, but did not know what the selection was? Again, odd that a server does not know the draft selection or offer to find out. Still waiting on drinks, we took notice of the “vibe” and “attitude” of the staff. Very lackadaisical and mopey, no enthusiasm, no friendly smiles; it was if none of them wanted to be there! Again, odd! Our food arrived, drinks still have not arrived. The steaks were not cooked as ordered, however we typically do not send food back, so the ones that ordered the steaks chose to tolerate. The ribs, nothing to say but just terrible. They were dry, tough, and just looked like they had been cooked many days ago. The meat was plastered to the bone and the backside of the ribs were a solid piece of white slimy fat that wasn’t even cooked. Not wanting to send back, I made an attempt to eat what was there and just couldn’t do it. I slid the plate to the side and just decided not to eat anything but the vegetables. Drinks finally arrived, take note, it was 8-10 minutes after our food arrived. No apology, no nothing. Again, this was our initial round! I assume the server noticed the plate slid to the side and approached the table to remove the plate, not asking if there was a problem. I asked to order just a pice of grilled chicken and then explained to her the dreadful rack of ribs that were served. No apology, just that she would get the manager to look at it. No manager came out or no table touches were conducted throughout our visit. The chicken arrived and well, was chicken. The server never asked if we would like a second round of drinks and was probably a good thing I guess, considering how long the first round took. All in all, this was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had! How anyone would allow this type of food to leave a kitchen and be served for consumption is beyond me! Being a chain restaurant, I really never expect top quality food, but edible food would be nice. I also would work on staff training, being as they are in contact with the public and a direct representation of the Outback brand. I made a promise to myself…….never to return to another Outback! Oh, and the side of chicken, they charged $14.99, for a piece of chicken! But they did remove the Ribs, or what they call ribs. Was just a terrible visit from start to finish! Management needs to do a...
Read moreAbsolutely awful. When we asked the waiter what dressings they had and he replied every kind, then he had to think about it. I just knew. We had to ask for drink refills multiple times. We had to ask for bread three times. My aunts salad came out with bacon on it when she specifically asked for no bacon because she does not eat meat. We had to find someone to tell. We had to ask twice for the cheesecake that came with my father's meal. We asked for a box with it. We had to wait for our server to ask again. Then my 74 year old father who walks with a cane went to the bathroom. There was not a lot of room. On the way back a server with black and red braids down to her bottom cut around him. She cleared him by maybe an inch. She didn't have the decency, manners, or respect to wait 30 second to let him by then take the lady's order at the other end of her table. I just stared at her. I kept my mouth shut. We were almost back at our table when the busboy/girl(?) Almost ran into him with the cart. She/he jerked to a halt. At least this one did say sorry. But, then stood there. Aparently, she/he lacked the cognitive power to realize they needed to back up and let him by. My father had to crab walk around him/her. We finally made it to our table. The check was there. The cheesecake was not. My father was agitated and I was done. Of course, our server was nowhere to be seen. I take the check to the bar to get told the bar will not cash out tables. So, I walk up to the dress shirt at the hostess station. And, I hear our server trying to call me. Nope. We waited on him enough tonight. I tell dress shirt we need to be checked out and set our bill and my card down. Our server comes up saying he was trying to get my attention. We'll, now he knows what it feels like. I get back to the table, the cheesecake has shown up, without a box. My aunt, who has been upset with the abysmal service all night is trying calm my father. A manager shows up with the check and my card asking what is wrong. I sign the check and just say you have to hot heads who are about to go off so it's best for everybody at this point if we just leave. I tried. She starts talking about making it right. My father just walks off. I can't get out of the booth because she's on my side. I'm grabbing my purse, giving her a fast answer, and start to get out so she moved. My aunt is telling me she will take care of everything and to go after my father. By this time I have lost sight of him in the crowded restaurant. I found him and we went outside. My aunt came out. We said goodbye. The food was okay. The service was appalling. It wasn't worth $108 dollars. The ONLY reason I left any tip ($10) is because my daughter is a server. The only person I would reccomend this place to is...
Read moreThe Outback Steakhouse Experience (Dine-in Edition). I set plans to meet my Aunt, who lives in the next city. We agreed to meet at a somewhat halfway point and choose Outback Steakhouse at the Wendover Ave location. We met at a decent time, so the wait was nonexistent, and we were seated upon entering the establishment at a booth.
The booth was sort of in the middle of the floor, without a wall, and between the bar area on one side and another set of booths on the opposite side. Not seated for long, I returned to the hostess stand and asked for another seating area. By this time, the waitress had come to the table, and my Aunt and I told her we were moving to a location and returned to the hostess stand.
As the host grabbed the menus to relocate us, my Aunt jokingly said she felt we were on display and sitting in the middle of the restaurant. In return, the host said, "Well, I am Moving Y'all To Another Location." I'm not sure if something happened before the host came to work or while she had been at work, but the tone indicated she was bothered. My Aunt replied I was joking, you did not have to be rude. The host then replied I said I was moving y'all and was not rude. In return, my Aunt said you were. At this point, we were at the front of the restaurant while others were eating, and both were going back and forth. While I was in between them, saying, "It's ok."
As I explained to my Aunt after finally being seated after the exchange, interpretation is vital. The host was clearly irritated and ready to argue, and at times, it's best just to let it go. Going back and forth with anyone is not warranted. Nevertheless, once our server came to the table, I ordered a Sauza Gold Coast Rita with a double shot of Sauza to calm my nerves after the debacle and a Bloomin' Onion.
For my meal, I ordered the Perfectly Grilled Salmon that comes with two sides. So I ordered broccoli and the crisp wedge of iceberg lettuce topped with tomato, red onions, bacon, and drizzled balsamic glaze, hold the homemade Blue Cheese dressing. After placing my order, I went to the restroom, which appeared clean during my visit. The server provided some excellent service, which took away from the initial experience before even sitting down.
The food was good and up to the standards and consistency of the Outback brand. Would I return to this location? Of course, I would return. The food was good, although things were somewhat uncomfortable initially. However, the server made up things with her service. I hope the host takes away from this experience that going back and forth with a customer is not warranted, especially over somewhere to sit. Just move the person and get on with your day. It takes too much time and energy to argue...
