As one of the few Peruvian restaurants in the area, Viva Chicken was likely to attract some buzz no matter its quality. Fortunately, the Greensboro location of this (mostly) North Carolina-based chain offers more than just novelty. Viva Chicken does brisk business, but lines tend to move quickly. Order at the counter, take a number, and look for a table. There appears to be enough seating to keep up with customer demand, and the counter staff are friendly, efficient, and definitely up to the task. As the name suggests, chicken is the specialty here, specifically, pollo a la brasa (Peruvian rotisserie chicken), which is sold in varying portions (1/4, ½, or a whole chicken) with sides. For those who want to partake but don’t want to commit to that much bird, chicken can also be added to sandwiches (wraps) and salads. Viva also offers a few Peruvian favorites such as arroz chaufa (fried rice) and saltado (steak with tomatoes and onions) as well as desserts (churros and tres leches) and beverages (herbal lemonade, fruit drinks, and Inca Kola). For our first visit, my wife and I opted for a limena chopped salad (lima beans, kale, romaine, korn, edamame, bacon, chickpeas, queso fresco, and ranch) with an herbal lemonade (lemon, lime, rosemary, and mint) and a naked Peruvian wrap (quinoa, avocado, feta, lettuce, tomato, cucumber) with a side of plantains and a maracuya (passion fruit punch). We added chicken to both dishes, and we didn’t have a long wait to receive our food. Though my side was a small portion, my wrap itself was plenty filling and delicious. The vegetables tasted fresh, and the chicken was as good as expected. A dash of one of the available salsas made it even more flavorful. My wife enjoyed her salad (especially the large-kernel corn) and found the herbal lemonade to be quite refreshing. Viva isn’t cheap for fast casual – our lunch came out to over $25 – but the quality of the ingredients makes it a worthwhile expenditure. Those who’ve frequented Peruvian eateries may quibble about its authenticity, but for the likes of Greensboro, Viva Chicken is far more fair than foul.

Wow. Just wow. We ordered this as delivery from Door Dash for the first time ever today. I am in love. Fresh food, the quality and taste are absolutely incredible!! My mother ordered a 1/4 white chicken with rice and yucca, she loved it all. The chicken was savory, tender and succulent! The seasoning was so yummy! She also got their herbal limeade, very very good, it's not too acidic, the rosemary gives it a really yummy grassy taste (but in a good way!) I ordered the Naked Peruvian wrap, using a sun-dried wrap, and I got it vegetarian with chicken soup as my side. First of all, no other chicken soup in the history of the universe is this tasty and absolutely perfect! All other chicken soups will disappoint me from here on out. The wrap is so tasty and fresh, full of feta cheese and quinoa which I absolutely love!! I highly recommend this restaurant! We also ordered a yummy churro to split, part of their churro profits go towards feeding hungry children, you cant beat that, plus, it tastes like an apple pie! Honestly this food is definitely worth the price, its very fresh, it tastes amazing, absolute perfection! Thank you Viva Chicken, I have a new favorite restaurant!

1st experience: Customer service was excellent and the food was delicious. We had the stuffed avocado with chicken on top and the half chicken plate. We were impressed. So many flavors in the stuffed avocado and the ingredients tasted very fresh. The chicken was tender and juicy. We will definitely be back. 2nd experience: Unfortunately, I had to knock my review to 3 stars due to lack of consistency. We are here on a Saturday and the customer service is almost nonexistent. The girl at the register never looked at us, never said hello, just asked for our order. Frankly, her energy was that she is a miserable person hating her job. Then when we looked for a booth to sit in, there were 5 empty ones that seemed clean until you approached them. All had either food on the floor, stuff smeared on the seats, or remnants of food on the table. We let the person up front know and she looked at us (for the 1st time) then looked away; said nothing and did nothing. Food was good but the experience sucked. The food is pricey so these things impact our decision when choosing where to eat. We were looking forward to returning and now we're just disappointed.

This was about my third time coming to the restaurant the other two times were great, no problems. I ordered an all white kids meal and when I open my box, I had dark meat. I was on the other side of town, I started to eat it so, I took a bite out of the chicken leg. I really hate thighs, so, I just could not bring myself to eat the thigh. I returned back, and I explained that I had ordered all white and I had received dark meat. There were two staff members, I believe one was a manager. She was wearing gloves so she was looking at the chicken and she said she couldn’t distinguish whether or not it was dark or white meat. After about 20 seconds of this exchange between the two, I reached in I picked up the chicken leg. I said you can’t tell this is a leg. I believe the problem was she had on gloves and even though she had taken the bag and the box for me and touch both of them she wasn’t willing to actually touch the chicken to turn it so she could see that it was a leg & thigh. I don’t understand what the issue was, I don’t understand why she couldn’t have just done that and then remove the gloves. Wash her hands and put on another pair. She said, oh yeah, OK we’ll get it she replaced, I requested to get fresh green beans because by the time I had traveled from one side of town back to the other side of town an hour and a half have passed. At this time she had started quizzing me on what time I picked my order up and looking at my ticket to see what time it was ready. I had requested for my order to be ready at 2 PM. I picked it up at 2 PM and at the time we were talking it was 3:40 PM. I know this because I looked down at my Phone, when she asked me, I felt, she was asking me to see if I was late picking up my order so she could then deny replacing my green beans. She really did not want to do it and I just kind of insisted, she give me fresh green beans. She finally gave them to me begrudgingly. This has me asking myself you made a mistake. Why didn’t you just take the meal and discard it for me? Replace my meal in in its entirety because of the time span clearly printed on receipt. The interaction, in whole, was Unnecessary. Her and the other employee stood there for was like 20 seconds before I walked up and picked up the chicken to show her and the other Employee that are both looking in the box, but they can’t tell that that’s not white meat. They sale chicken for a living and don’t know the different cuts of meat, by sight. The problem is it was just the Indifference to me, the customer. The restaurant was not busy. It was one customer in line when I came up to return the meal, it was a few customers maybe three or four sets of customers in dining room. Just an added note, I was not upset by the mistake. I was upset by how the mistake was handled. While you have a good product service makes a...
