Never heard of this store ever in my life. The Experience as soon as I walked in was what is this place what type of restaurant is this and I hope it's not crazy overpriced. Walking in with a little confusion because I was only getting carryout and didn't realize that the order desk is in the middle of the restaurant and not at the immediate front like others. Now this is in no way a negative tick but a unique characteristic about this restaurant that it is not just an ordinary place. Now I'm Not The Artsy type but it seems like a modern type restaurant really does have a personal touch. There was a painting in there of a older African American lady which for me I was captivated because I wanted to know the importance of this particular painting and what was her impact on this restaurant or if she was the brains behind this uniquely designed operation. I do like being in a place that has a personal touch and history behind it. I leader ask my wife about this and you can correct me if I'm wrong but that lady I believe is a very generous sweet lady and to this day she works there. Now I'm not sure if it's entirely accurate but my wife said she was there from the very first day it opened and that she wasn't necessarily the owner or manager but she was an employer. Now before I even ordered my food I was amazed with what this place appears to be. if what my wife was telling me is true about that lady that tells me a lot that this restaurant/Cafe acknowledges its employers for being loyal and a dedicated worker and put a panting up of her for all patrons to see in the little sitting area right next to the painting. I think I read a story not too long ago of a very popular restaurant that rhymes with wacronalds lol getting one of their most dedicated and loyal employers a $200 check as a going-away gift for 30 years yes I said 30 years of service to that particular restaurant. I got it$200 is $200 but if I was a multi-billion-dollar restaurant industry I would send one of if not THE It was quite busy so I made my way up to the ordering desk but on my way up I noticed and was particular impressed with how packed it was and seeing how the servers were maneuvering around everybody with great situational awareness, and always had a smile on their face. with my job we do stick out in the community because of my uniform so a nice middle-aged man came up to me who I assumed was the manager/owner. He was very friendly, polite. happy about being there. He went out of his way to shake my hand and thank me for my service. I nodded thankfully and simply replied thank you for your support, great looking place. He smiled replied TY & went on his way to make sure he was focused on all customers. Which I am perfectly okay with that. The lady that took my order was very friendly and very polite in listening to my poor interpretation of what my wife wanted to eat. LOL. Within 10 minutes of sitting down if that, my food that I ordered was already being handed to me 100% correct. So A+ on that. As packed as the restaurant was the cooks in the back appeared and seem to be veterans of this workplace.Once I got back to my wife we sat down and ate. the food was simple yet amazing with a unique taste. If I remember correctly we ordered some type of meat sandwich can't remember exactly what type. I never ate that particular type of sandwich and it did not disappoint it was good fresh and the side of fruit that they provide it's probably our favorite part of the presentation of the food. The fresh fruit seemed as if it was just pulled off a tree. Very fresh very rich in color. We did order dessert can't remember exactly which one it was but their dessert menu and a presentation of the desserts that they have on display and exceptionally appealing We will definitely be repeat customers. The price seems adequate to the quality of the food matter of fact it almost seems underpriced because of the food was...
Read moreGiven that I have had a great experience at this restaurant before, I chose to give two stars for tonight's experience instead of one. From the start of our dinner to the payment of the check, things just got worse and worse. First, we had to ask for drink menus from three different people before receiving them. Then, once we ordered and received our salads, one salad had rotten lettuce in it. When the entrees came, the filet (that just happened to belong to the same person who had rotten lettuce) was well done instead of medium. At this point, we asked for a manager and Mark said he would ensure the rest of the meal improved. When the replacement filet came back out, the cooks had cut into the middle of the steak to ensure the temperature was correct--not a serious issue, but not a good standard for restaurants. We finished our meals and the waiter promptly brought the check instead of asking if we wanted desert. After desert, the check was brought and we were reminded that the manager had taken two meals off the ticket to make up for all the problems. However, when we looked at the check, two of our meals were gone as promised, but all of another table's food was included on our check. On top of everything, basic things such as drinks being filled were not even taken care of without asking for it. Overhearing other table's conversations, it was evident that tonight was a bad night all around as the wrong food was brought to tables, which caused other tables to go long periods without their entrees. The food was great, but management really needs some help--Mark seemed to be the only one who knew what was going on but I was disappointed when he didn't come to the table to apologize about charging our table for the wrong food. I won't avoid the place in the future, but I definitely won't suggest we visit there for someone's...
Read moreWORST attempted dining experience of my life. Walked in and the greeter attempted to seat us in the back, a woman who was bussing the tables, escorted us to a table in the front. Water was placed on the table, waiter came over to take our orders, no greeting, no introduction. He asked to take our order, was impatient during the ordering process, didn't explain what entrees came with, no information or polite chat, just a stone face. Didn't ask us for a drink order, we asked the same black woman who seated us and apparently bakes all the cakes, and whose picture is on the wall, for two glasses of iced tea, which she promptly brought over. I had to go over to the serving station to get my own straws. I watched our waiter approach other tables with a smile and laughter. Waited 30 minutes, our food never arrived. During the wait the waiter attempted to squeeze through a narrow area and knocked my friends purse which was hanging on the back of the chair on the floor and kept going. I know he heard it hit the floor because I was sitting across the table and heard it. He later came over and took our cake menu and didn't excuse himself or apologize for doing so. We grew tired of waiting and considering the rude and discourteous treatment we were receiving and the fact that the waiter was avoiding eye contact, we decided to get a slice of cake and leave. We went to the counter where the cake is served. There were two people standing there, the guy quickly came from behind the counter and left. The woman who was facing the counter turned her back and never turned back around. Needless to say, we left and will never step foot in this apparently racist establishment again. I wish I could give zero stars, but the system will not allow me to. This occurred on June 22, 2018 at...
