It breaks my heart to write this review because I’ve made many a trip to Greenville just to eat here! I am absolutely stunned by the treatment of a fellow Marine Corps veteran who was fired from “Auction House Food & Drink Hall”! I cannot say enough good things about the veteran. He served his country for almost ten years which three of those were protecting embassies and American diplomats. He now volunteers with the Veteran Treatment Court in Buncombe County. He helps these veterans anyway he can and has the most mentees of any mentor in the program. He is well respected by everyone who has anything to do with the program and goes above and beyond. I find it it absolutely disgusting that he spent ten years willing to give his life to the country and continue serving by helping fellow veterans to then be fired by the owner of “Hendough”, “KO Burger”, and “Mercado Cantina” Paul. The most outlandish part is the reasoning for firing him was he came to the owner and said he didn’t feel safe due to the conduct of another employee. Not only did he fire him but screenshot the conversation with the veteran and sent it to some of his managers with the words “ha ha”. Until that day the veteran had nothing but glowing things to say about the owner hence why he went to him with the issues. Not only has this effected him mentally and emotionally but has taken a toll on him physically to the point of hospitalization. This is not a reflection upon the Cross family at all! What they’ve created is amazing but I can’t sit by and watch my fellow Marine not only be fired but then laughed at. He spent ten years keeping people safe and when he needed it he was mocked and fired a little more than an hour of saying he...
Read moreHonestly, Gather is a great asset to Downtown Greenville. Especially for my two year old, who loves to be outside. As a resident of downtown Greenville, I frequent this location often with family, friends and co workers. However, after today; the experience I witnessed with the balloon clown; I can pretty much say; Gather probably won't see another dime for me. My daughter LOVES to go to Gather, especially for the balloons. But what doesn't quite make sense to me is, why someone with a low irritation to kids is the only person out there making balloons for around 50-75 kids. Let me be clear, when I say irritation to kids; I mean BLACK KIDS! Today my daughter was waiting for a balloon, a child who he has made several balloons for , and he had the nerve to put his hand in her face. (Run the cameras). He literally hurt her feelings, she started crying. I understand it can be frustrating for someone trying to make balloons for several kids; but he should know that is it DEFINITELY not okay to address or put your hands in a two year old little girls face! I reported it to the appropriate staff and let them know that I witnessed the whole thing. As I was reporting this, she was still crying. It hurt my feelings. This is unacceptable. Make your money however you're going to do it; but please learn some respect because the next parent may not be as...
Read moreWe drove by this fun food spot as we came into Greenville and walked back to it as soon as we found parking during a busy holiday weekend.
Colorful, fun, inviting and very modern, this food court made from shopping containers that contains multiple food and drink vendors, lots of seating upstairs and down, places in both the sun and shade, and some play areas.
It was packed when we were there and a few of the higher rating vendors weren't open, but Hen Dough was both highly recommended and had a very creative menu.
We had an egg and cheese biscuit sandwich and the amazing Maple Bacon Chicken sandwich, which was INCREDIBLE! Very messy to eat, but so worth it.
We enjoyed it with beer on tap from Greenville Beer Exchange.
Shared tables meant we met others visiting and swapped food recommendations during our visit.
A very fun food court that would be fun to visit regularly and try different food and drinks and enjoy music.
I'd give Gather GVL 5 stars for the fun factor and Hen Dough definitely needs its own shout out with 5...
