We have eaten at other Cheddar's and enjoyed our meals. The Greenville location? Not so much. We were there on a Sunday for lunch. Although the restaurant was half empty, we had to wait for about 15 minutes. We were sat at a booth where I immediately had to brush crumbs off the bench before sitting down. My husband on the other hand sat down and got sticky residue all over his hands from his bench.
After asking for the bench to be cleaned off and my husband visiting the bathroom to clean his hands, we were asked if we wanted appetizers (we didn't) and received our drinks. The salad came promptly and was delicious. The entrees? There was a long wait for pasta and for a medium-cooked steak although the restaurant was not overly busy. Our server never checked on us after receiving our food, never asked about the quality of our food, and never inquired if we needed anything. We finally had to flag her down to get steak sauce. Later, we began to wonder why we had not received any croissants. Once again, the server was nowhere to be found. We were finished eating half our meal before we were finally able to flag her down. Upon asking weren't we supposed to get a croissant, we were told that some people waste them and that they do not automatically bring them to the table. She further clarified that we were supposed to "ask" for them when she asked us if we wanted "any appetizers." What??? How is a guest supposed to know that bread is considered "an appetizer" and that we "were supposed to ask for them" when she inquired if we wanted appetizers? Something sounds very fishy with this explanation.
The server that could not be found for the majority of the time? Suddenly, she appears while I have food in my mouth and my husband still has 1/3rd of his plate left, asking us if we were finished and presenting the check. My husband immediately decided not to finish his unappetizing pasta that he did not like. The server? You guessed it; we never saw her again.
In the car, my husband and I discussed the quality of food and the distinct lack of service. While my food was good, my husband did not enjoy his at all. We both agreed that the service was bad and the excuse for not receiving a croissant was pitiful. We decided that there were too many restaurants in Greenville that had better service and better food. There was no need to subject ourselves to the Greenville location of...
Read moreI will NEVER give this location another chance . Myself and my partner planned on eating dinner at this location at around 8 pm on a Wednesday evening after shopping at Haywood mall . The restaurant wasn’t busy . The host gave us a back booth off to the side by the bar not in the main dinning room but near the entrance. We waited and waited and waited , no waiter or waitress in sight , I walked up to the hostess station and the man lied to me and told me that all of the waitstaff was busy taking orders off a 10 top table , there was virtually 5 other parties in the entire restaurant , most everyone had their food , after waiting an additional 15 minutes a black girl finally came over dropped off extra croissant rolls I’m assuming as an apology and took our entire order including drinks … then we waited and waited and waited , finally after 27 minutes she dropped off my raspberry lemonade and his Diet Coke and walked off , no apology , we were waiting on the spinach artichoke dip appetizer for another 15 minutes. She never came back over to say why everything was taking so long despite being dead on a mid week night . I finally had enough I got up and left , the black man and the host who lied to me were cooling their heels at the hostess table , he greeted me with a warm ‘ have a nice evening! ‘ I stated ‘ We won’t be back ! “ he didn’t say a word , I left something of mine at the table in my haste and my partner went back into the restaurant to retrieve it while I was waiting in the car , the black man finally acknowledged my partner by trying to offer a gift card that he refused . Why would we want to return just for the same or worse service ? I don’t understand why these restaurants stay open and expect to earn their living but they can’t even get soft drinks to the table in a timely manner despite the bar tender standing around socializing with 2 customers at the bar and playing on her phone in between . If these employees don’t wanna come into work don’t come into work , but I work very hard for my money and when I’m hungry , I expect good service and good food in a timely and respectful manner especially on such a slow night . I will never eat at this location ever again and highly advise anyone in the Greenville area to think twice before pulling into this restaurants...
Read moreArrived at 4:45pm Added ourselves to the wait list. We were waiting with a party of 2, and a party of 3 ourselves. I have worked in food service for 8 years prior to my current position and let me tell you this visit was absolutely horrible. We were sat at a table at 5:06pm right at the promised time of about a 15 minute wait. Which we were off to a good start. 10 minutes go by, no drinks. The girl who sat us took our drink order & brought them back & said our server would be by momentarily. Time passes by, everyone has passed us, taking tips off other tables but not cleaning them & it’s getting frustrating so the girl game back & took our order. At this point it’s 5:30pm with the waiter comes back to clarify the order totally okay cause he didn’t take the order. We were appreciative of his attention to detail but we pointed out we needed refills & he said he would be right back. 5:50pm no refills, no server my mom goes to the bathroom & sees him and reminds him we needed some tea refills. 10 minutes later it’s 6pm he comes back to let us know he needs to know how my mom wanted her burger cooked. So we have sat at a table for an hour while the table who came in with us is paying their bill to leave. tables around of us have set dirty except for cash tips taken off the table. and our food has yet to be put in. We were frustrated & asked the served for an explanation for him for say "he is doing the best he can & our server called out & isn't coming in so he is taken over our section. No sir, thats not how that works. customers don't suffer from staffing shortages. I would have rather waited on a table at the front vs at a table under the impression our food would be put in 30-40 minutes. When we said we would go somewhere else the server was never apologetic only met with sass and saying he is not at fault. We asked to speak with the manager upfront who also lacked apologies for the situation only to take down our information to send us a “gift card” which has not yet happened. This review is based on an incredibly poor staff management & customer service. We have heard nothing but the best about the food but unfortunately we only got 8oz of sweet tea and a honey butter roll which was good but for an hour wait is...
