As a fan of Rafaela Rye, I was so excited to hear the owner opened up a restaurant in my hometown, Greenwich. 6 dishes, 4 glasses of wine for two to tango, I felt it could have been better.
The atmosphere is nice, clean and modern, but its overpacked and the music is cranked up too high. The food was okay. The pasta is not as fresh "homemade" like their restaurant in Rye. The seafood was tasteless (most likely due to sitting in a freezer too long). However, the wine selection was pretty good.
What bothered me most, was the manager. He is a young man, dressed like he was going to a Justin Timberlake concert (lounge joggers, oversized chain hanging out of his shirt, not fully buttoned up, and oversized white basketball shoes), with a HUGE ego and attitude. After our entree dish and taking our me time to review the long desert menu, this manager approached our table twice trying to push us to order desert. Meanwhile, we have not even been at our table for a full 1 hour. Our super nice waiter, finally approached - and I explained to him how I felt I was being pushed by the manager (who never introduced himself or sat us down). Our waiter apologized and talked to the manger, and as I glanced over it was very clear the manager knew we were looking at him. That was his chance to come over and apologize or offer us a glass of wine (not on the house), but to make us feel there was no rush and we cold enjoy our desert - which we eventually ordered.
Overall, this is not a restaurant for Greenwich. I think it will eventually follow the footsteps of Barcelona and become a hit for the young rowdy crowd...
Read moreDecor and ambiance is great! So is the service, all the waiters are attentive and extremely polite. But now let’s get to the food. I feel terrible saying this, but it was just not good. I got a grilled octopus to start and it was extremely hard. Now octopus is not known for being the softest meat, but I was literally afraid for my teeth and I am young with strong teeth! Next, I tried my favorite dish ever: cacio pepe. I honestly don’t know what happened here, I know this dish has few ingredients but it’s very easy to mess up…and mess up they did. I thought maybe it was just me, but my friend who ordered the same agreed: it was not creamy like it’s meant to be, but it was dry and chunky and sticking to its little plate pan it came out in. Kuddos on the beautiful dish it was brought out in though. Now for the end: the dessert. It was great! I had the panna cotta and my friend had their ricotta cheese cake. Both were exceptional. I wish I could say we went when it was extremely busy, and maybe the kitchen was too busy to pay attention, but we were there at 5:00pm and were one of the two couples there. Maybe this can be a good place for drinks? But they definitely need some work in...

Great place. Really nice staff that’s very attentive. Small, comfortable atmosphere. Open kitchen. Great bar at which you can also eat.
The octopus appetizer was amazing. Octopus is never easy to pull off, whether roasted or grilled and either is broccoli rabe (the stems get a bad rap). I was able to cut this with a fork and the broccoli rabe was finely chopped (stems and all).
The cacio di pepe was really good. Unfortunately. I thought grated cheese was in the tiny ramekin. Turned out, it was salt, which I figured out too late. To my credit, my table was really dark, but I was still able to salvage the pasta on the bottom of the bowl. It was a huge portion.
The artichoke salad was perfect. The service was really outstanding. My water glass was never empty.
I didn’t think the “Italian cheesecake”, was Italian. It was still...
