I have been coming here for 18 months once a week. Every time my experience has been great. Then out of the blue, I come on Jan 1st and the waiter/manager on duty treats me quite badly which made me upset. I wrote a scathing review. But I returned a couple of times to check on the situation because his behavior was not typical of my previous experiences with the staff. They were quite apologetic. But I was resolute, as long as he still worked there, I was not going to change the review. I visited a few weeks ago and he no longer works there. I think that it just didn't work out between him and the upper management. The owner happened to be there, he came over and requested that I not judge the whole establishment according to the personal problems of one staff member who no longer worked there. I understood his point because no one had ever treated me badly before. It was quite the opposite, every week for the past 18 months I came because the sushi was fresh, and I was always treated with courtesy. I returned because my gut told me that the issue was with that waiter and not the team. I am definitely happy that the place is back to normal. I have given the restaurant another chance and they don't disapoint. five stars for problem solving, five stars for food, and really the service is quite good here. I definitely recommend.

I visited a restaurant because the reviews were really good, and I also love omakase, but I had a completely different experience from the reviews. The Kumamoto oysters were so bad that I had to rinse my mouth with water with embarrassment, even though they are one of my favorite foods. The second appetizer came out in order and was good, but when the appetizer were over, I had to wait for more than 20 mins for next course to come out. Although I expected the server to apologize, they didn't say anything and just acted as if nothing happened. The dish explanations were also awkward and unprofessional. Sushi were supposed to come out in sets of 5, when we were done with 10 pieces, one piece took so long that it made me lose my appetite. Some of the dishes, like king salmon, were supposed to be torched and served warm, but everything came out once so temperature had changed. Omg the dessert. It was the most surprising. Two sour fruits like lychee were placed on ice and served with one slice of pear. The fruits were sour, and the pear had an odd color, so I only took two bites and left the rest. If you really like omakase, I recommend going to New York. Lately they have lots of omakase places that cost below $50 which will taste better than this place.

Terrific omakase for the price. I think they did a great job conversing with the folks at the bar and on a Sunday night it was a very quiet and intimate atmosphere. I only knocked the stars down one because I called to head to ask if they use real wasabi root and they said yes and then when I got to the restaurant and asked to see it they made some fumblings with their words to try to come up with the idea that they pre-grind it and freeze it so there's no actual root to see which seemed a little bit suspect. They were also trying to sell the concept that the rice and the fish and all the components in the omakase are better than what they serve out in the regular restaurant but they were literally making the sushi for the regular restaurant at the omakase table so I'm not sure if that's actually true or not. Regardless it was good, great service, great atmosphere I would recommend

Hurry to this fabulous place! Tsuki Omakase, for our family, has been a joyful surprise, and culinary adventure, and let me explain why.

Greenwich, CT, has been home to 2 excellent and popular sushi restaurants for several decades, with 2 or 3 ambitious recent arrivals that set a yet-higher and dramatically pricier standard. Our family has enjoyed all of these, and are loyal, frequent, happy customers.

Then along comes Tsuki Omakase, occupying two large and almost plain rooms at the intersection of Putnam and Greenwich Avenue, with casual American music, with a wide sushi menu, and a range of Japanese dishes, and then their specialty Omakase!!!

Everyone should race to Tsuki Omakase for this 12 or 15 course masterpiece. It’s rare anywhere to see several family members all react to the same bite, placed on plates by the chef at the table, with wide-eyed “OMG this is the best we’ve ever had, anywhere!”

Yet several times this rare event has occurred, at this wonderful destination. A secret might be that the owner, on premises with his wife and children, explains he also owns a seafood importing business from Japan. Perhaps he quietly keeps the freshest of the 12 or 15 different Japanese fish served, for his Greenwich customers.

Another secret might be that the sushi chef brings a cart to your table, to perform his Omakase miracles a few feet from your plates, with consistently original visual presentations, superb original tastes, and cheerful explanations, all at a cost less than half charged at highly rated Omikase...

This place had great reviews, so my girlfriend and I decided to give it a try. We made reservations (weren’t needed but it was a Friday night) and were one of three tables in the restaurant at the time. We ordered drinks but weren’t given menus, which was no problem as we just asked for menus when they came around again. We ordered some apps and the sashimi deluxe and Tsuki roll. The spicy edamame came out quickly and was delicious and the soups were great as well. The restaurant then began to fill up and our table was forgotten about. We watched as other tables got their drinks, then their food, and we were still waiting on ours. We saw the restaurant employees staring at us and talking but didn’t come to address anything. They then came over an hour and s half after we’d been there and said “be patient”. We were! It wasn’t until 20 minutes after they told us our food slip was lost and they were making our meal now. They brought out an appetizer “on the “house” which was another order of edamame that we’d already had. They did give us two drinks on the house as well. Our food came out eventually and was delicious, and the restaurant did attempt to make up for the mistake. We didn’t tip our usual percent but we would never leave nothing. I understand that mistakes happen and the restaurant business gets tough. The food is worth it, and i believe the service...
