I really wanted to like this place, unfortunately the service ruined it for me. We went there for my birthday, and had a large group. There was another large group in the restaurant at the same time, and I just don’t think they were equipped to handle that many people. Shortly after being seated, the FOH manager discussed the different menu options with us, including a la carte sushi, hibachi, and what was supposed to be the more premium omakase experience- ranging from $100 to $200 depending on your preference. When the server came, I decided to go with the omakase since it was my birthday and went with the $150 option, which I was assured would be worth the extra money - a ton of food with curated sushi, nigiri, sashimi, and beverages based on my personal preferences. I was told the manager would be by the table to discuss my preferences for the omakase shortly. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. The server took everybody else’s order, and it was an hour before I was served my first course for the omakase. When I noticed everyone’s food coming out I mentioned something to the manager about not having anything yet for the omakase and he tried to make excuses about people being served in the order they were seated. Which was beyond absurd since we were all seated at the same time and he still hadn’t discussed my omakase preferences with me so how could he even know what to serve me? Beyond that, nothing was coming out in order. Rolls before appetizers before drinks. And it wasn’t just my experience that was ruined. Nearly everybody in our party had a missing drink, appetizer, or incorrect food order. Ultimately, everyone in our party was done with their food by the time I was served my second course, so they pretty much had to watch me eat for the next 45 minutes. They plied me with extra booze with the omakase to mitigate the awful service, but unfortunately I wasn’t drunk enough to forget. The fish was very fresh, and was good. And they did offset the bill for their mistakes, but it was hard to tell how since we had so many missing items throughout service anyways. Which is why they get the extra star, but I certainly wouldn’t waste your money on the omakase or go with a large group.
Edit: one star after owner’s response. If the amount of booze you served me was simply part of the omakase, and not to make up for your terrible service, then the omakase is not worth $150. Or even $50. I was given maybe 8 nigiri , two plates of sashimi, and one roll. And Awful service. It’s not my fault you guys had 37 people in the restaurant. If you aren’t able to serve that many people, don’t take the reservations. I said what I said when I left to be nice. And I tipped your awful server more than 20% because it’s not his fault you can’t run a restaurant. Blaming your customer is one hell of a way to lose a whole lot...
Read moreI am a self-professed sushi connoisseur, and dine out for sushi 1-2x weekly. I regularly dine at Sushi Den, Uchi, Temaki Den,…if you know you know. This was my first time dining at Enso Sushi, and it punches WAY above its weight class!! To say it’s the best strip mall sushi in Denver is a given. But more than that, I’ll put the quality of its food, and service, right there head-to-head against the aforementioned heavyweights! I started with the Miso Black Cod (MBC), and it was hands down the best version of the dish I’ve had anywhere. Not just the best in Denver, mind you, which is saying a lot because Sushi Den held that spot for me for years. This is better than any MBC I’ve had in NYC, Los Angeles, London, or anywhere in between. The sauce on it was extremely flavorful, more so than you may find with this dish elsewhere. I can’t imagine it tasting any better! Utter bliss on the tongue… Next up, I dove into some of their specialty sushi rolls, and the Spicy King Crab Roll and Toro Trio knocked it out of the park. The Toro Trio came with Yellowtail toro, avocado, and toro of Tuna and salmon. Absolute culinary decadence, it was amazing! (Kudos to Alex for convincing me not to pass it up. Alex is as passionate about great sushi and great service as anyone I’ve ever met.) The Spicy King Crab Roll had shrimp tempura and avocado inside, and was topped with a generous portion of Alaska King Crab meat, and finished with 4 kinds of caviar. One of my favorite rolls I’ve had anywhere, and at $24 it was an absolute steal. The nigiri was absolutely on point as well. The King Salmon and Sake (Salmon) Toro both showcased that Enso sources only the finest and freshest seafood available. Again, I’d rank them head-to-head with Sushi Den and Uchi, but at a fraction of the price, and without requiring a reservation two weeks in advance. At least not yet. I will be back, and it will most certainly be sooner rather than later. Next time I’m starting with two Miso Black Cod and I’m going to have the A5 Wagyu beef that I just didn’t have room for this time. Whether your a sushi newbie, or have logged over 100+ sushi restaurants in 9 different countries as I have, Enso Sushi deserves to be on your short list of sushi experiences that are well worth a visit. May your experience be as good as mine was, and I plan to...
Read moreIt was an unbelievably excellent meal. From start to finish. The staff was so kind and attentive. And the food was so good. The cuts of fish were beautiful and perfect. They have a lot of high-end deliciousness. Enso Sushi is a great place to go if you want to have an elevated Japanese meal. I loved my Lobster miso and they had Toro and the most beautiful cuts from excellent sushi chefs. They went above and beyond to give us an amazing meal. The Miso black cod was delicious as well. And I have had that dish at Nobu and I also make a delicious miso glaze as well haha. But the fish was melt in your mouth. The only thing that I would even have a teensy tiny suggestion about would be the accoutrements for the cod didn't really match the flavor profile in my opinion but the green beans and tomatoes were still good, they just felt a little out of place. And the ice cream at the end was a little hard. I'm not even really complaining just because a lot of Japanese restaurants don't even bother to have a desert on the menu so I really appreciate that as an option however the ice cream and mochi we're frozen a little bit harder than would be ideal. If you are really serious about dessert you would have a special freezer that is set a little bit lower so that is definitely asking a lot I know most restaurants don't have separate freezers just for their ice cream so no worries haha. But I personally would probably skip the fried ice cream next time and my daughter isn't too picky about the mochi but it was hard as well. However like I said a lot of Japanese restaurants don't even offer dessert so I'm grateful to have options and they will satiate a sweet tooth if you have one at the end of your meal. All in all the fish was to die for. The presentation was beautiful. The staff was kind and so fast to put in our orders and get our food. And the sushi chefs did an impeccable job with beautiful cuts for those fish. I would eat that everyday if I could haha. Highly recommended to anyone who has taste buds. If you have never had Japanese food you should give it a whirl because it is one of the best cuisines in the world. And Enso Sushi and Grill is a great place to try it out. Also recommended for fans of fine dining. Their food is...
