(My husband's name is on this review, and I have no idea how to change it.) I hadn't been to Musasi in several years, but just the memory of the delicious food lured me there yesterday - out of the blue. Luckily, I was the first to arrive after they opened, so I got to sit there and be sentimental for a few minutes before the friendly woman came and took my order. I ordered the Bulgogi Lunch Box, and tried to wait patiently for my order - but it was hard. Luckily, the delicious soup arrived first. It was perfect temperature, and I loved it. By the time my Bulgogi came, I could almost taste it before it arrived. Sure enough, it was excellent - just as I remember it. But, there was more: A delicious salad, 3 beautiful pieces of California sushi, a fried dumpling (perfectly fried, too) a little perfect eggroll, 3 little broccoli (which I don't like, but I ate one anyway), some kind of noodle dish which made my mouth water, perfectly cook rice with a sauce on it that was awesome, and...Bulgogi! OMG!
By the time I was done, I wanted to lay my head on the table out of satisfaction. I couldn't finish all of it, and the smiling, friendly Sushi Chef teased me when I left some of his beautiful creation on my plate. :) All in all, thank you Musasi. A great meal, with great memories behind it! I sincerely...
Read moreWe have been waiting to go but with my severe shellfish allergy had been hesitant. We went in after the Blackbeard Festival and it was AMAZING! We were greeted and I explained my allergy the hostess let us look over the menu prior to seating. I saw there were plenty of dishes that were non shellfish so I was good to go I did ask about fish sauce being used and she said no. The Miso soup was AMAZING! You are seated in a "group-like" table which didn't bother hubby and I - its a VERY extensive menu. They also give you a sushi/sashimi menu but of course we didn't order any - they have a sushi bar right in the seating area - it's very cool. The waitress was super sweet! They kept pur water glasses FILLED which was nice because it was quite warm and the water was ice cold! They even asked if we needed forks - hubby said he did but I would not 🤣🤣. There was PLENTY of food when it was served too and for a GREAT price. You get a salad and soup AND your main! We had leftovers! It's a mix of Japanese and Korean food which is a GREAT blend of flavors. I cannot wait to return. I'm so glad I took a chance - so for all of you with shellfish allergies I did fine - YES I DID have my epi-pen and did take precautions prior to eating just in case, but felt no ill affects from the food at all, except I was VERY FULL!!...
Read moreIt is easy to see why this place was voted best Japanese restaurant in the area. From their large menu to their great service. It is a place I will be coming back to. Now let's get down to what makes this restaurant so good; the food. We ordered agedashi tofu, bulgogi, and udon. The tofu was crispyand served in a sweet tempora sauce. Which tasted good over rice. The bulgogi was was marinated in a sweet meaty sauce. It tasted like steak sauce, but sweeter and more complex. The vegetables that came with it were cooked with the same. The udon was exactly what I was looking for; not too flavorful, lite, and tasted homey. Something you don't find in other Japanese resteruants. Something I was surprised to see on their menu was oyakudon. This is a very simple and homey dish. Not something I expected to see. Adding to the menu's appeal. As for service, the waiters worked hard given there were only two waiters, on the floor at a time, and how...
