Waffle House — Restaurant in Hampton

This past weekend my friend and I went to this location for lunch. She ordered a Patty Melt meal add tomatoes and grits. I first ordered the papa Joe's pork dinner add 2 eggs. I had to tell my waitress 3x to not add cheese to the hash browns & no seasoning to the pork chops.

The waitress was telling me what was in the seasoning like I was slow & in the last minute going to say that oh you can order the pork chop breakfast meal ( which isn't shown on the menu) . I have to tell her again about no cheese with my meal. Before she told the cook our order 3x she stated under her breath: "oh my god" like I didn't hear her. When customers were coming in/leaving the establishment ,my friend & I kept on hearing most of the staff making slick comments about the customers, while sitting at the booth.

When I got my meal the Scramble eggs was Scrambled hard. I just didn't want them to fix it again. It seems like most of the staff catered to women customer's more than the men, even if they're together .

Then when I paid my bill, she was looking at me in disbelief that I pulled out my veterans id & stated we don't give those discounts anymore, just on veteran's day. I was like ok and paid my bill and left.

I probably won't go to this location for lunch or at all again. I would rather go to a location in norfolk and/or out of state before coming back...

This is the best restaurant I’ve walked into in my whole existence. Upon entering we were greeted with a kind hello and asked if we were there for take out or stay in. All associates we’re attentive of the front door and customers coming and going, leaving no one standing around wondering. We got our order placed in under five minutes and they have a pretty cozy section of chairs for customers to wait for pick up orders, seperate from the dining room. The lady who took our order was very kind and professional and got our order 100% right. We waited a total of ten minutes for our food. I also observed the behavior of people in the kitchen. They have a very clean kitchen and all employees handling food changed their gloves every new plate they made or every new food item they cooked. They have very high cleanliness and food handling standards even amongst a busy Saturday morning rush. Everyone was very upbeat and bubbly and seemed like they were having a good time working. Will definitely be back again. You guys...

The food was great, but the staff was subpar. We got there at 10:23 and waited until nearly 11 to have our order taken. Our waitress took the order of a table that came in after us before she would take ours. We finally got drinks at 11:17 when the tables we walked in with were finishing up eating and leaving. Every single table that walked in after us was served and done with their food by the time we got ours, leaving us the last table in the building. While we were eating the staff was complaining about wanting to lock the doors like it was our fault we had to wait nearly an hour to even get drinks. Not sure if this is a staffing issue or what, the food was delicious and the server apologized but being served after every single table that walked in after us was ridiculous. I have worked in food service and understand that you can get overwhelmed but she should have asked someone else to take our table if she couldn’t handle it. Management needs to bring on more people...
