Waffle House — Restaurant in Hanover Township

Was not greeted upon entering. Waited for a few minutes for our table that a wait person pointed. The table was cleared of dishes but not wiped or disinfected. The wait person took or drink order, I asked for my drink in a Togo cup, and the wait person said sure I can bring it in a" to go cup with a lid. " " As she walked to get our drink, she visited with another table to talk about the club and her outfit and other personal stuff. When she returned, she placed what appeared to be a small juice cup made of plastic and no straw. When she asked our order, she interrupted or sentences with styles and ways served before we could finish saying how we wanted our food cooked. When she returned with our food, she recognized that she had not put out any silverware and quickly returned with both silverware sets and 1 napkin. She just dropped the napkin, and all the silverware didn't offer any refills or ask if our food looked right. She did not return to our table until I had slid my plate away from me, only to drop off the check. My friend called to her as she was leaving and requested a to go coffee and we waited 10 minutes for her return but she must have forgotten. I paid my bill and left no tip. As we walked past the window to our truck, she stood by our table pointing out to us and talking to her friends at the other table. We quickly left because two of the four males had stood up and were heading for the door. I spend 300 or more days on the road and average ten or more meals per month at Waffle Houses all of the country. I have never had this level of poor service before. Oh my goodness, this location is horrible. I wish I could give it 0 stars, but I can't. I went there today with my 87 year grandfather to treat him to breakfast. I usually go to the one near exit 67 off 78 West, but since this one was closer to our destination I decided to go there BIG MISTAKE. So the waitress takes my order- mind you this was a small order of abt $12.00- and informs us that it will be abt 10mns. So far so good. And then abt 4mns later the situation goes downhill quickly. The waitress comes back and informs us that a big party of 11 people just came in so we would have to wait til their order is finished and then they can begin to work on ours. Let me break my order dwn: 2 sides of grits, scrambled eggs, hash browns, 1sausage patty, and one large orange juice. I called over the manager and asked her why we had to wait since we were obviously there first and it is such a small order. I kid you not when I say that they had 15 cooks working the grill. The manager couldn't understand why we couldn't wait. I said wouldn't it be easy to let one of your many cooks complete our one small order, she was so rude that my grandfather and I just walked out. I think she's the worst manager ever- surely with 15 cooks she could have managed that situation better then this. She treated us like 5th class citizens. Fifteen cooks on one order. Having drove down from NYC, this experience was amazing! Having visited many waffle house locations, in many states, I have to say this one was best in service, speed and friendliness. Hyrum (forgive me if I misspelled your name) was sharp, focused, friendly and a great server. Noticing they were under staff, it would have been expected for attitude or slacking; but not him or his cook. Both communicated well, with other each as well as Hyrum with the customers, both coming in and seated. They serviced both dine in and take out customers, in the order the order was taken. It was impressive. The food was well prepared and hot. Our time in the restuarant was the usual time, no long waits on anything. The restaurant, including the restroom was clean and clear and the seats were marked according to social distance guidelines. He did come to the table twice to check in and provide us with anything we asked. Having worked in customer service, for many years, this was a proud moment for me to see such service being provided.
