My mom was so excited to take me to this restaurant after having a fantastic lunch here with my brother just a couple days earlier. She talked it up the whole way there—raving about the food and service—so I was genuinely looking forward to it. Unfortunately, our dinner ended up being a huge disappointment and left both of us frustrated and embarrassed. We got there around 7:35 PM and waited at the host stand while the hostess completely ignored us. When she finally looked up, my mom told her we were there for dine-in. The hostess didn’t say a single word—she just walked away. No greeting, no smile, no direction—nothing. We stood there awkwardly until my mom asked if we could just sit at the bar. The hostess nodded and handed us menus without a word. The bartender took our drink orders pretty quickly, and that was the only decent moment of service we had. After that, it was a long, uncomfortable wait. Twenty minutes passed before she came back to take our food order. By then, it was already 8:00 PM. I ordered the birria pizza, and my mom went with the steak and shrimp fajitas. My food came out at 8:18 PM, but my mom’s meal was still nowhere to be seen. After watching me nearly finish my pizza, she had to ask the bartender to check on her order. Only then did the bartender go look into it. The fajitas finally arrived at 8:31 PM—almost an hour after we sat down. At that point, I was already boxing up my leftovers. To top it off, when we were served chips and salsa, ours came in flimsy plastic cups while other tables around us were getting proper bowls and noticeably better service. It honestly felt like we were being treated like second-class customers, and I have no idea why. We left at 8:52 PM, completely disappointed. I could tell my mom was embarrassed after having hyped the place up so much. It was nothing like her Sunday experience, and she said she won’t be coming back—or recommending it to...
Read moreGreat food & drinks, but service needs a little polish. I tried out the new Rio 150 in Concord and had a decent experience overall. The wait time wasn’t bad at all for a Thursday evening, even though it was pretty busy—probably because it’s a new spot that’s getting a lot of attention.
The service was okay. Our waitress was clearly doing her best, but she was stretched thin—serving inside and outside guests at the same time. Despite that, she stayed friendly and got everything to us in a reasonable amount of time.
I ordered the house lime Monster Margarita, and let me tell you—it was delicious and definitely gets you right if you know what I mean! The presentation was amazing too—the waitress even lit the lime on fire, which was a fun touch.
For food, I got the chicken fajitas, which came out sizzling on a hot skillet—just how I like it. The flavor was great, but unfortunately, my flour tortillas (you can choose between flour or corn) was forgotten with the food. I waited a bit after I asked for them, but everyone was busy serving others and I ended up having to go to the kitchen myself to get them. By then, my chicken had gotten cold.
Despite that hiccup, I still enjoyed the overall taste of my meal and the vibe. I’m not sure I’d return to the Concord location, just because it felt a bit too hectic, but I’m open to giving the Mooresville location a try next time.
Here are pictures of the menu and my food — everything looked as good...
Read moreOk, so I’ve been once to both locations and bad experiences at both.
Lake Norman location-went to eat at the bar by myself, sat there for 10 mins and nobody gave me a menu or asked me what I wanted to drink. I sat there and seen them greet other people, check on people beside me, and continue to skip me. I just got up and left, which everyone noticed but somehow seemed to ignore me when I sat there.
Concord location- So I’m with a party of 5 & everyone’s first time trying the place. I order a spicy chopped steak dish and someone orders steak fajita. Long story short, they gave us each others dish and we didn’t realize it because we got our dishes about 5 mins apart. The waiter never checked on us, we only seen him when he was bringing ordered drinks or food. When the last dish was brought out, we didn’t see him until the food was almost gone and everyone was talking about how terrible the food was. Nachos had barely any nachos, the other girl picked over hers because it was spicy(like I wanted), and the fajitas I ate was very unseasoned-I never have to put salt on my food and I did twice on that dish. When we mentioned it to him, he said “well you should have switched plates, shrugged his shoulders, cut his eyes, and walked off…”
I hate I don’t have food pics.
I will never visit this establishment ever again. I love Mexican cuisine and will continue eating at others especially Monterey on University Blvd. I’m always satisfied and...
