Goldberg's Bagels & Deli — Restaurant in Hasbrouck Heights

I've been going here for years and never had an issue with my order. But within the past year, the middle aged man, that's younger then the older dudes and older than the dudes that look like twins seems to always want to take my order. For some reason, he always charging me about $2.50 more than the others for the same sandwich.

Today, I went in and was waiting for anyone but him.... Saw him free and turned away to look at the drinks... He still yells if I need help and being so shocked, I order Taylor ham and cheese instead of Taylor hame and bacon and after realizing, told him before he put the cheese on.

Then, for the first time, decide, let me look at the prices and low and behold, there is Taylor ham, bacon and cheese for $5.29 versus the $8 he would charge me. He comes to ring me up and notice the $2.50 extra and told him that I want the price on the menu. He says that he gave me 6 slices of Taylor ham because I asked for Taylor and cheese and then switched to bacon. I'm like how does that charge the price when I'm actually getting 2 of 3 items. One of the older dudes noticed and said to give me that price I saw and he wants to argue with him telling him how he gave me 6 slices. So I said "you can take out the slices because I didn't ask for it". Even asked how he came to the conclusion that I wanted more when I didn't ask for it.

To top it off, I saw the customer who had prior to me (not this time, but another time, get the price he should have). I have my assumptions on why, but I'll leave this review at that.

Ughhhhhhhh pay close attention I can’t believe I crossed three lanes to come to this place … I was lookin for a BEC so when I saw BAGEL I swerved to get there! I only give a bad reviews when I see hair or something that don’t go in food but this is totally beyond that! I’m a very visual eater so I’m always lookin at what I’m eatin. I already didn’t like what I saw becuz everything looked skimpy! Like I get eggs are high but one egg to a bagel is a rip off as well as the microwave bacon! I feel like I was choking on the bagel becuz there was nothin to balance it out. A good sandwich you can remember til the next day but I remember the cheese was just not present and I swore I ordered a BEC on a cinnamon raisin I usually vlog my meals from places and this time I was so hungry I ain’t even wanna do it. After my first bite of my sandwich I seen something! I said what the helly! It was stuck to the raisin so I took a pic but when I pulled it off it was way longer than the pic shows …. Like $12 for a drink and BEC on a bagel is such a ripoff!!!! They kitchen area is wide open and it’s my first time here and im not thinkin I have to stare at them while they cooking in order for them to make a better sandwich but now that seem like what...

I wish I had more hands, give this place 4 thumbs down. The service was the worst and my sandwich was terrible. How hard is it to make a ham and cheese hero. The bread was stale and dry and the cheese was hard. And you would think they'd send someone to me with a better sandwich seeing as how I was staying at the hotel right next door. Can you imagine the disappointment? After a long day of work all I want to do is sit on the sofa and enjoy a sandwich while watching ESPN. Is that too much to ask? Not to mention the $22.76 I paid for 2 of the worst sandwiches ever. Smh If you want a hero that's hard as a boot... This is the place. Honestly if the guy on the other end of phone wasnt a smug condescending SOB and at least tried to rectify the issue i probably wouldn't even be writing this review.
