Yesterday, I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this ice cream shop. I specifically ordered a strawberry and lime ice cream, but to my dismay, the girl preparing my order used only half of a strawberry and a small squeeze of lime. As if that wasn't bad enough, her coworker accidentally dropped more strawberries on the floor while trying to hand them over. Instead of addressing the issue, the second worker left to assist another customer. When I inquired about the limited use of strawberries, the girl dismissively replied that customers preferred it that way. However, when she finished rolling my ice cream, she intended to top it with the strawberry that had fallen on the floor. I immediately asked her not to use it, and she reluctantly grabbed a new container from the fridge, placing it next to the contaminated one. At that point, they turned their backs to me, trying to conceal their actions while laughing amongst themselves. I strongly suspected that they took a piece from the dropped container and used it as a topping for my ice cream.
This whole experience was undeniably the worst I've had in Hellen. To add insult to injury, the ice cream itself tasted nothing more than frozen milk. I urge you to avoid this shop and instead visit "Das Ice Cream," where you can truly enjoy the best ice...
Read moreThis was our last stop before leaving downtown Helen, and we got there at 12:45pm. We were greeted by a closed sign, and my sad face must've caught the attention of those inside, because a man came running to the door and told me that they'd be open at 1pm. Yay! We came back and walked in to an already hopping atmosphere. Orders were taken by a friendly young lady who explained the process to us, and each order got it's own post-it note, so when each one was being made, you knew it was yours and you could watch the process from scratch. Your ice cream base is either milk or coconut, in case you're not into the dairy thing. You can also choose from the premade options or you can make your own. This process is an art form, and I was amazed at how quickly they work to make the magic happen. I tried to record it on my phone in slow motion, but even that was fast. The result is a bowl of rolled up ice cream that tastes a little like heaven with whipped cream on top. I can't say any more than that, because to put words to it would only degrade the actual experience. Go try it out for yourself, and buckle up...
Read moreI was excited for the opportunity to try rolled ice cream for the first time. Didn't even get frustrated over the 30 minute wait during the long long backup at the Atlanta Ice Cream festival, but was sorely disappointed by how tasteless and crunchy the ice cream was. After all that, I ended up pitching it in the trash can. It would have been better to have one or two people demonstrating the rolled ice cream process and handing out samples to generate future customers than try to service customers at a festival knowing you didn't have the manpower to adequately do so. Shout out to young manager who was engaging his customers and attempting to be attentive and apologetic for the delay. The other three young workers were definitely NOT what you needed for a busy...
