Paul's Margarita Deck — Restaurant in Helen

My husband and myself went to Paul’s Margarita Deck in Helen Georgia to meet our son , his girlfriend and another couple , who were already there. When we approached the establishment there were signs that said no pets allowed. The security at the front of the building , Cornbread, told me that I could not enter with my dog. I told him she is a trained service dog. He said I would need to provide proof, either a card or some type of letter. I told him that’s not legal to request that, but I did show him I have a badge for her. Next, he said between you and me, what is your disability ? He told me he’s a member of the fire department, so he s allowed . Again , I told him you’re not allowed to ask that, he told me it’s just between you and me and if you want to get in, you will have to tell me. So I said, OK, and told him . Now he told me I needed to show him one of the tasks she can do. I told him you’ve already violated enough regulations. But I did tell him , she is specifically trained when she senses an anxiety attack to either lay on my feet if I’m standing or place her head on my lap . So we proceeded to walk inside and sat down. While we were sitting there, another couple came up, a former veteran, with his service dog. Cornbread, was no longer at the door, but there was another Security man. I don’t know for sure what they said to this couple, but the wife turned and walked away. I told her that they did the same to us, and she said they’ve never been treated that way before and that she would not enter the establishment. Her husband talked to the Security for a little while and then left. When we left, I told the security guard that I would be filing a complaint, and he said go right ahead it won’t matter. Then a woman standing next to him, told my husband, that we were ridiculous for thinking anything would happen to their establishment because of a stupid service dog. Later , I did see on Facebook, where several months ago somebody had left a review stating that they were questioned about their autistic sons service dog. We went here to eat lunch. As we pulled in, Paul approached the vehicle and asked what we were doing. "we are parking to eat here". "come back at 4" he says sharply, turning away. We looked at the building and saw the open sign on, and people walking in, so we pulled further back to what we believed was a separate parking lot. When we got up to the door to the OBVIOUSLY open restaurant, Paul approaches again, and tells us that there must have been some confusion, and that you have to pay to park, and "it will be taken out of the bill". He looks at us expectantly, so I ask "do we not pay with the bill?" and he explains that, no, you pay for parking then they deduct it from the bill. "OK, no problem". This is when Paul starts his bitching. He starts complaining about us, to our face, for how we pulled into the parking lot. "it's a problem of communication" I told him, attempting to avoid having to tell him that he is the reason for the confusion. He proceeds to tell me that it isn't a problem of communication and that we simply can't figure it out. "I mean, that thing is right there" I said, pointing at a traffic cone that Paul had placed in the center of the road. Realizing that HE was the cause of his problems obviously made this man angry, because he immediately ramped up his temper tantrum, yelling at me to leave. All in all, the owner is petulant and rude, and doesn't deserve...

As always, this review is my opinion based on a recent visit to this establishment.

Not at all impressed! The “prime rib sandwich”, (pictured below) was extremely dry and overcooked. It appeared as it was leftover roast beef that was chopped up, re-grilled and tossed on a roll. Absolutely tasteless, tough, dry and expensive. It was maybe….a 7” sandwich. That dry, 7” sandwich was $11.95. My date had the turkey and Swiss melt. She was disappointed as it was simply lunch meat, cheese and bread. She was hoping for a sandwich not made with processed meat! Ya know….like a “real” turkey sandwich and not a kids lunch meat sandwich for $9.95.

We did not fall for the $20 parking scam! I simply can not believe they want $20 to park. I totally understand they say they will give $20 credit toward food and drink…… but what if we decided we didn’t like the menu, or decided we only wanted a beer? Would have been a pretty expensive parking space. I think if they are so desperate for money that it is necessary to force you to spend $20 (by charging it for parking) then maybe they should shut the doors and allow someone else to open a real restaurant in that space that would really provide quality food for their customers.

I ask my followers to boycott this restaurant and force them out. Unfortunately, in my opinion,...
