DO NOT EAT HERE (unless you are drunk maybe). Horrible food and bad service. Quite literally one of the worst meals I’ve had, despite this place having great food a few years ago. I’m very non-confrontational but I literally made an account for this review. I have had some school lunches that were better honestly. We waited almost an 1.5 hours for food that came out in PAPER BASKETS (and styrofoam cups) that fell apart as I was cutting (paper plates would’ve been better honestly). My very dry chicken (costs $15) was “seasoned” with just salt and pepper, had two tiny pieces, and one was so rubbery I could not eat it. The sides were fine but the schnitzel was not schnitzel—it was a thin, wide, flavorless pork (chicken) tender with thick, bland sauce. They forgot some food and when we talked to the manger about our very legitimate concerns, he was belittling and rude. He said he has no control over how dry the chicken is because it is grilled (tho that’s not how cooking works) and said that he has no choice but to use paper baskets since it’s the weekend and he “cannot risk” the plates being broken (who is breaking plates and how does EVERY other restaurant not do this then). He shut down everything we said with no real apology; all he did was take off the gross chicken and offer to bring out missing food despite us already being there for 2 hours now. Maybe if you are very drunk could the place be okay. I would like my two hours back.

We had a decent experience here but were hoping for better. We had planned to stop in Hermann on our drive back to St Louis from Kansas City for a good German meal on the last night of our visit from Chicago. This was the only restaurant open in Hermann at 7 on a Monday evening. Their menu had some standard German fare, including several schnitzels and a several bratwurst varieties. We all went for some variety of bratwurst, either as a sandwich or dinner w/ sides. The bratwurst themselves were OK, but did not meet my expectations when compared to the numerous good bratwursts you can find around in Chicago and Milwaukee. If nothing else, they were dry and a bit undercooked. The potato salad was pretty good, but the red cabbage was the biggest disappointment, having no flavor to speak of. They had an OK beer selection, but all were served in smaller plastic cups versus a proper glass. Pricey given the serving size and limited selection. We left disappointed, as we were hoping for better given that we specifically went out of the way for a good German meal that was average at best.

Went to the Concert Hall today ignoring the negative reviews. My husband and I were looking for some place to go for a late lunch. It took a few minutes to get our menus but they were very busy. Our waitress told us that it would take 30-40 minutes for our food to come out. Didn't bother us a bit, we know how short staffed restaurants have been and were used to waiting that long before we're able to get seated in a restaurant in the city. We ordered fried mushrooms and they came out pretty quick. We both ordered schnitzel me with Jager gravy and my husband with the Rahm gravy both came with hot German potato salad and braised red cabbage, although they were out of the red cabbage and so I ordered coleslaw and my husband ordered mixed veggies. The coleslaw was good husband thought that the mixed veggies were frozen. The schnitzel wasn't spicy but it sure was salty, and the Rahm gravy broke. Husband loved that he was able to smoke and the side of the restaurant we were on.

If you value your time and money, avoid this place at all costs. I've given this place too many chances over the years, and each time was worse than the last. Plenty of times have we waited over an hour for food, only for them to bring us incomplete plates because they were out of items that we had ordered, and failed to notify us about. The food that we did eventually get was mediocre at best. My fries were freezer burnt and my burger was missing things I had ordered with it because they had ran out and didn't tell me until after they had brought the food out. The high prices do not reflect the poor quality of the food they serve.

The most recent time I tried to eat here was on Monday, October 14th (after the weekend Oktoberfest rush), when I had placed a to-go order. It was incredibly hard to get someone to answer the phone. We tried calling a few times over about fifteen minutes, only to be placed on hold and then forgotten about. I was finally able to get through, only to be rudely asked what I wanted by the bartender. I placed an order for two pretzel stick appetizers, and I was told it would be 10-15 minutes. I arrive 15 minutes later, and after standing at the bar for about five minutes, I was rudely asked "Can I help you with something?" by the bartender, to which I informed her that I had a to-go order. In the time I was waiting, I had watched someone at the kitchen window bag up my order and set it on a tray. It was done. I was then condescendingly told that it would be JUST a MINUTE. Fine. The bartender then ran off and meandered around the building for another five minutes or so, to which then she came back with my order that had been sitting dying on a tray for a while. I gave her my card and she went to ring it up. I was not anticipating the two pretzel stick appetizers totaling $26.26, so my card declined. When this happened, she visibly and audibly groaned, slammed my card back on the bar, and told me that I needed to wait longer. She said "Well, you need to wait now!" and she proceeded to run away again. It took only a moment to transfer an extra $5 onto my card, but apparently I was inconveniencing her and was not worth her time. I sat and waited another ten minutes or so, with my order still dying. I asked one of the other employees there if he could ring up my order since I was already ready to pay, but he responded that he was not allowed to. Once more time had passed and the bartender came back, I explained all I had to do was transfer a bit more onto my card, to which she responded blatantly rudely "Well you SHOULD have done that before." I responded that I wasn't expecting this small order to be almost $30, and she responded "Well, it's on the menu so you should know." I was placing the order for someone over the phone, and had not looked at the menu. I left with my cold pretzels, and a great story to tell people about my experience dealing with the bartender at the Barrel.

I do not like leaving negative reviews. I really don't. However, I felt that I had to after this last time. I actively warn people to avoid patronizing this place, because of how many times I've had bad experiences trying to eat here. I'm done giving this place chances. I've been let down every...

My wife and a few friends visited Hermann MO for a weekend trip. All together we were a party of 7 middle aged adults. We decided to try the Concert Hall out for dinner on a Friday at about 5:30 PM.

After we stepped into the half full establishment. Our party was greeted with cigarette smoke and glares from presumably local patrons.

After we stood at the front door for a few minutes and did not receive any instruction from the service staff. We guessed that we may need to seat our selves to get served.

We found two high top tables and moved one adjacent to the other so we could all sit together. Almost immediately one of the service staff approached us and instructed us we were not allowed to move tables and needed to return the table to it's original position.

We apologized and decided to send a few people elsewhere to see if we could be accommodated, and a few of us remained for a beverage and to move the table back.

Literally as we were moving the table , the service staff person returned and rudely said that we needed to move it all the way back to it's original position. Then that person stated they would return to get us drinks and menus.

After waiting about 10 minutes, and seeing the much of the staff lounging at the far end of the bar. The same service person returned again to tell us they would be right with us after delivering some food.

After another 5 minutes a different couple entered the establishment sat next to us, and was promptly greeted and served beverages. Luckily after that we were able to eat at another local establishment. We had great service and did not have people blowing cigarette smoke at us.

Hermann Mo is an awesome place and everyone should spend some time there. I would recommend staying away from the Concert Hall and Barrel...

Our recent visit to this restaurant was the worst dining experience we’ve ever had.

We came in on a Saturday afternoon with twelve family members from different cities and states, hoping to enjoy a special time together. We managed to grab three high-top tables and pushed them together so we could all sit and mingle. However, the waitress rudely informed us that moving tables was not allowed and referred us to a sign. She condescendingly commented, “I guess you’ve never worked in a service position, but other customers would also want to move their tables and we can’t have that.” Ironically, several of us have worked in the service industry and have never encountered such an issue.

We requested to speak with the manager, but no one ever came to address our concerns. We separated our tables and continued to order drinks. We decided to play their hook and ring wooden toss game, adjusting the tables slightly to make space. When the waitress returned, she accused us of trying to mess with her, insinuating we were still attempting to move the tables.

We ordered food and waited for an hour without receiving our complete order. Frustrated, we decided to leave. After paying our separate bills and tipping 20%, our waitress tearfully explained that our food had been delivered to the wrong table and that it wasn’t her fault. Despite this, we never received an apology or a visit from the owner or manager.

There were numerous opportunities to improve our experience, but instead, it was a complete disaster. The lack of professionalism and customer service was astounding. We won’t be returning and advise others to steer...
