This was a good micro brewery in Herman. I have only been a couple of times and it wasn't crowded at all but I was there in the afternoon. I got a flight of beers which I thought was a good amount of beer for the price. this first beer was the skyscraper which is a crisp, light refreshing beer. Some people might thing it was a little to close to making love in a canoe but I liked it. Next I had the Red Caboose which was pretty good Amber lager. They were changing the keg or something on the wheat beer but I had had that the night before at there restaurant across the street. I'm a big fan of wheat beer in general but there First Street Wheat had to much clove for me. Because they were out of the wheat I had a Cranberry Radler instead and it was good. Next was the Midnight Whistle which is a dark beer with roasted malt. I don't like super dark beers, but I liked this one in fact I would say this is the best dark beer I've ever had. I tried the Chipotle Lime Rauchbier because it sounded like it was different. I like lime in general and I put a lime in my corona but this was to limey even for me and I could really taste the Chipotle but my mouth wasn't on fire afterwords. So this beers is tastes as advertised and is well named but I don't think I could drink a full glass of it. Lastly I had the cider and it was good. I should also mention that there 1836 root beer. My Nephew loves root beer and last summer I bought 14 kinds of root beer and we had a blind taste test and 1836 won everyone picked it number1.
tl;dr, the beer without Chipolte is good. They have the...
Read moreFrom St. Louis and wanted to get away for a weekend. I found the Tin Mill brewing company in Herman! It was an amazing experience! The place was open and very welcoming! With three floors, you are able to find a space to eat and drink! The main floor has a self tour that is easy to follow and leads to the gift shop that has great items for sale at good prices. The basement is an open cellar that plays music and is open all around. The top floor is meant for dinning and drinking with family! While I was looking around the building, there were three bachelorette parties going on along with two birthday parties!!! Definitely a great place to spend for personal events or even birthday parties. The beer was terrific as well! I tried skyscraper, skylight, and true street wheat! They had me coming back for more! Last but not least, the staff, they were very friendly, hard working and welcoming! I could not ask to be served by a better crew, a definite five out of five. Also, on a personal note, a big thanks to the manager of the Tin Mill, he was kind, funny and went above and beyond for everyone, for every second of his time with a smile! If you want to get out, go to an amazing brewery, head to the Tin Mill brewing company! It will be worth the time...
Read moreRelaxing place to grab a cold beer. There is seating inside or nice setup in the back outside.
Sampler flight is nice way to start if you like beer and variety. Think you get something like 6 total beers(4 year round ones they use each time and 2 of your choice if I believe correctly). At worst if you want one full size beer and not sure what you want they will give you a real small sample if you ask. They have year round beers and also some seasonal ones. I have never had anything other than beer here but they have some local wines in the cooler and make a few mixed drinks.
They have pizza, some sandwiches, some snack foods, etc. I have never ordered more than a pretzel and cheese here. It was delicious and along the lines of $3.50! (Heads up if you walk across the street to Hermanhoff Winery and get the same thing it is double digits. Weird because I think the same people own both)
Just reading a few reviews. They also own the Tin Mill Steakhouse across the street(never been but heard overpriced). A number of reviews complaining about the food is at the Steakhouse not this Brewery. I know some of them are for the brewery but seems like half of the reviewers aren't putting even at the...
