I had the pleasure of visiting Hennessey's Tavern back in November of 2022, and I must say it was a delightful experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The tavern had a cozy and traditional pub vibe, with wooden furnishings and friendly staff. Great views of the ocean and people walking by.
One of the standout features of Hennessey's Tavern was their exceptional fish and chips. As a seafood lover, I'm always on the lookout for well-prepared fish dishes, and Tennessey's did not disappoint. The fish was perfectly battered, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It had a fresh and flaky texture, and the flavor was simply fantastic. The accompanying chips were equally delicious, golden and crispy. It was evident that the chef paid attention to detail in preparing this classic dish.
Another great aspect of my visit was the fact that the World Cup was playing on the televisions throughout the tavern. Being a sports enthusiast, it was a joy to watch the games while enjoying my meal. The ambiance was lively and the energy in the tavern was infectious. It created a sense of camaraderie among the patrons, as we cheered for our favorite teams and shared in the excitement of the tournament.
The service at Hennessey's Tavern was commendable. The staff members were attentive and friendly, always ready to assist with any requests. They provided recommendations and made sure that I had everything I needed to have an enjoyable dining experience.
In addition to the standout fish and chips and the lively sports atmosphere, Hennessey's Tavern also offered a wide range of beverages. Their drink menu featured an impressive selection of craft beers and spirits, which further enhanced the overall experience. Whether you're a beer aficionado or prefer a classic cocktail, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Overall, my visit to Hennessey's Tavern was a memorable one. The notable fish and chips, combined with the exciting World Cup atmosphere, created a fantastic dining experience. The staff's hospitality and the diverse beverage options added to the overall charm of the tavern. If you find yourself in Hermosa Beach and in the mood for excellent food, a lively sports ambiance, and great service, I highly recommend stopping by...
Read moreMe and my group of friends are usually regulars at Hennessy’s Tavern and we love this place a lot. However, the experience I had this time with this waiter who wore a green hat with sunglasses didn’t really stick with us. He was very inattentive and only visited our tables 3 times which was order drinks order our food and bring back the food with later the check he didn’t come back to check up on us to see if you want more drinks which all of us were really wanting to. once it came to the check he was asking us to put it a gratuity and he was hovering over us we felt his gaze watch us as we put no tip we felt he didn’t deserve it and honestly we felt sorry but we had seen the restaurant usually get busy and crowded and waiters there usually do a very good job of managing their tables even when it’s like that and we always give the highest gratuity on the check. we honestly felt he was on some thing either drugs or very disassociative everywhere we looked at him He was either talking to his coworkers or wondering where to go after.. he even commented when one of my friends that decided to pay her own meal and asked why she left a small tip. So after we left he literally stalked us from behind and kept mad dogging us as he was bragging about us to his Coworker. We would tell him how we felt but we didn’t have the heart to. tips are earned through hard work and attendance, not just for showing up. I would know because I worked in a steakhouse and the small details are always key. My group honestly had a better time buying from the liquor store next door. On that note we will still be coming back because of the atmosphere food and people enjoying every minute of it we just hope for a better...
Read moreVisited with two friends on a late Monday night and received horrible service.
Not much of a beer selection and beer is watered down (look at the pics. Lagunitas is supposed to be dark in color).
There were only about two groups of guests (my table and another party) during our visit. The server (blonde with sleeve tattoo) was rude and inattentive. I first noticed a bit of an attitude when she slammed my water on the table. Then, after placing my order, she proceeded to talk to the group sitting at the table behind us for ~5-8 minutes (she was not taking their order, she was hanging out and chatting). Yes, it took that long to get my beer.
She spoke to them about her finishing her arm tattoo and mentioned being from another state and how she had a twin sister. This all while I waited for my beer. At one point she looked over and perhaps remembered she was supposed to bring over a beer. I was ready to go to the bar to get it myself before she finally brought it. She then went back to hanging with the customers at the other table.
Topping it all off, we weren't given a last call. The server simply came over only after the other group had left and said, "sorry, you all have to leave like right now." She even told us to chug our beers. My friend asked what time they closed and she responded "We definitely don't close at 2" but gave no specific time. It was about 12:35 am at this time. I have a feeling she forgot to let us know they'd be closing soon because she was too busy talking to the group at the other table. The restaurant/bar had a sign that said it closes at 2am but it closed past midnight on that Monday night (5/10).
I wouldn't recommend this...
