Our server was nice enough, but needs a bit more training. We gave her a nice tip because I really don't blame her. We have become accustomed to being asked how we are doing, how the food is, if we need anything else, etc. We were not asked any of that while we dined. And when we went to the counter to pay there were several people waiting and our server just took our money without any comments at all. No thank you, no how was it, nothing.
Also, the workers did not really know how to pronounce the names of some of the dishes which doesn't affect the food quality, but bothers me anyway.
Half of the food was really good. Half of the food was really bad. The good dishes were the Khaw Soy and the Pad Himapan. They had great flavors and seemed very fresh. The noodles were so yummy and the meat had a good texture. On the other hand, the Larb had lettuce that must have been from yesterday or earlier. There wasn't much in the way of flavor, unless you compare it to the Mangoes with Sticky Rice, our final dish.
I have NEVER spit a mouthful of food out at a restaurant, but a nanosecond into my first bite, I was scrambling for a napkin so I could purge the nastiness ASAP! No flavor whatsoever, no penetration of yummy sweetened coconut milk into the sticky rice brick, no sweetened coconut milk (just plain), no mango. Okay there was mango, but it tasted like papaya. In other words, picked two months ago and never ripened. Now I have to go back to Red Basil as a compensatory gift to my tastebuds. Tonight,...
Read moreAs a precursor, I used to eat at the Orem location 2-3 times a week with a co-worker. Massaman, Yellow, and Red curry are my favorites. The flavor, portion size and price made it that much better. I grabbed people and dragged them to that place it was so good.
I moved to Lehi and was excited to see there was a That Drift a few min away.
In short, I won't be going back anytime soon.
The curry was the consistency of water... the flavor, needless to say, was lacking. The ratio of watery curry to meat/potatoes was poor. It's as if they ran out of chicken and potatoes and decided to ration the rest out, 2 bite size slices of chicken, and half a small potato cut into quarters. Oh, and the potatoes weren't exactly fully cooked, mostly is good enough though right?
As sad as the curry was the rice, well, I guess in this instance it was on par with it. A quarter of the rice was over cooked. Not burnt, but that type of rice you get by scraping the bottom of the pan. Most of it was fully cooked, but looked and tasted like it had been sitting out for a couple hours, as if they prebox it for when they get carry out orders.
Did it stop me from eating it? No. I was hungry and looking forward to having curry. I'd rate the food as "medicore", hence...
Read moreI always hate to leave a negative review, but this is one of the worst experiences we have had at a Thai restaurant, and we’ve had Thai food at different restaurants all around the US. (*delivery review)
First thing I noticed was that the spring rolls lettuce tasted like it came straight from a bag from a grocery store. I’ve never experienced that before on any spring roll, but it was undeniable.
2.The sticky rice that came was in a plastic baggie. You could tell immediately that it had been sitting for a while because it was all clumped together so hard that I had to really get at it to break it apart. It was so dense/dried that it was hardly edible. It was nothing like fresh sticky rice.
The.Masaman curry dish that we got seemed more watered down than any other I’ve had before. The flavor was very watered down as well. It was a texture and flavor issue.
The Spicy rice that we got had a pretty good flavor, but it wasn’t mixed up very well so the flavor wasn’t consistent. I would give this dish a three star.
Overall, really disappointing. I couldn’t imagine us eating here again, but we were really hoping it would be great! Hoping that this was just a really rough night for...
