Seriously, dude this place is amazing and let me tell you why: Firstly, it is always and I mean always clean. I have never seen any garbage falling out of the trash bins inside and there is never any trash or debris left on the utensil/straw/water bar out in the foyer. Tables and chairs are always free of trash and are always clean. The atmosphere inside Insomnia is calming and interesting with plenty of seating inside. There is also a large outdoor patio area with big open tables. It’s really lovely.
The service staff are ALWAYS polite and friendly without fail; every single time and I have been to the Insomnia in Tanasbourne dozens and dozens of times and their service is always top-notch. Never a rude interaction from the staff there. Impeccable! The politeness from staff is most certainly an exceptional laurel to be proud of and bravo to you all for your consistency. There are two large restrooms inside and they are always clean. As for the coffee, their espresso is just right and the drinks are always crafted with care. It’s that extra ‘touch’ there that makes the beverages so phenomenal. As for the food, I frequently order their quiche and sausage biscuit sandwich. Both are always prepared perfectly especially the quiche (my personal favorite), which contains bacon that is always perfectly crispy and savory. The consistency of the quiche is out of this world. I must have ordered the quiche from this location fifty different times and it is always perfect. This has to be one of the best coffee places in greater Portland, Oregon. Five stars. You...
Read moreI hate to leave bad reviews. But this was such a bad experience I'll never come back. I ordered a quiche and decaf coffee, which you serve yourself. The quiche was very good. But this is a coffee company so IMO you gotta get THAT right first and foremost. The decaf coffee was absolutely horrible. Maybe this is some odd alternative coffee place or something. But it had this really strong fermented taste I couldn't get over. No amount of additives to the coffee could overcome it. . The additives is the next part that I didn't like. I'm diabetic but I like to add sugar-free sweeteners and cream to my coffee. I couldn't find a sugar free sweetener anywhere. They had honey and a bottle that was 99% empty of raw sugar. I'm sorry but honey doesn't taste good in coffee IMO and is still no good for a diabetic. I'm no huge fan of Starbucks coffee but at least they always have a great selection of 2-3 difference sugar-free sweeteners. . Finally, I prefer cream in coffee but I've come to realize no coffee shops do real cream anymore. Half and half is still fairly common though. Most places at least offer that, which I can live with. But not here. It's skim milk, apparently. Might as well be water because it didn't help at all. . So I ended up with a large cup horrible fermented tasting coffee with honey and skim milk in it, neither one of which helped drown out the awful fermented taste of the coffee. I literally has two sips and trashed the entire cup. . Honestly worst coffee experience I've ever had. I'd never...
Read moreThis used to be my favorite coffee shop however, I’m getting to be too fed up to continue giving Insomnia my business. First off, i have been going to Insomnia for over 8 years and consistently go out of my way to be able to visit a shop. But, as a loyal customer, i have seen this company thrive for itself but only at the expense of quality and consideration of the customer. A 16oz latte costs $6, ok, it’s ridiculous but most coffee shops are priced at about the same. However, it cost like $1.50 just to substitute for oat milk?!? Am i buying the carton!?!? Absolutely asinine.
In addition, the service is friendly but has become snail pace slow. Today i went to this location and i waited 25 minutes for ONE coffee. There was ONE person in front of me before i ordered. As i watched others grab their coffee’s, i took note that they were getting out 1-2 coffees every 5 minutes. What the actual heck?! That’s unacceptable, sorry but it is, and i will never go back to this location. I usually use the Baseline location, however, i have waited 15- 45min in the drive through more often than not.
All in all, I’m looking around for other coffee options. Sad because insomnia coffee is tasty. But, terrible services and HEAVILY price gouging means enough is enough.. in my opinion, this company has become incredibly greedy. Very sad for this previously...
