On rainy day Thursday afternoon 4/20, the store was not busy and I was greeted by a "reluctant" employee at the cashier and she didn't make me feel welcome. I ordered 2 drinks - Yogurt Green Tea, which uses the probiotic benefits of Yakult, and Rosehip Milk Tea. Since the drinks were on the "way" too sweet side and super water down, I asked if I could have more yogurt yakult for Yogurt Green Tea and less sweet. For Rosehip, I asked for less rosehip powder so it won't taste too sweet. She gave me that annoyed look first but agreed to add more Yakult and strongly said No to changes I asked for the Rosehip drink.
To my surprise when the drinks were ready, she said very loud, scolding manner almost, in front of the other customers who were waiting "Next time, don't ask any changes to the drinks, you will get us a trouble!"
What the heck just happened?! Kung Fu Tea as a food & beverage provider, the customers are not allowed to make any adjustment to our order and get a "slap on the wrist" in front of other customers??
Talking about being flexible in the food & beverage industry, it is expected for customers to request any adjustments. It could be less this, add more that, change this, remove that and so on. Had she told me to add more money for extra yakult, I would be willing to pay extra. Also what a worst customer service that was!! If you go to Starbucks, Jamba Juice, and other boba stores, they would be happy to make any adjustment to the customer's liking and still provide an excellent customer service.
If you are new/ first time and certainly know you need to make any adjustment to the drinks, this is NOT your store. Save your time and money, find other better boba stores who have better quality and better customer services. Reading from other reviewers (at Yelp too), apparently many of the drinks weren't adjustable in this store per their corporate policy, also their customer service and drink quality were not great as well. I recommend to try Bubble Crunch, T4 Tea House, Boba Tea House, Mo...
Read moreBest bubble tea in town! I'm so happy that there's a Kung Fu Tea here in the Portland area, and their teas are the real deal, authentic Taiwanese style boba and fresh brewed teas (not like the powdered stuff that you see in a lot of Oregon places). I'm a big fan of milk teas made with teas other than the standard black or jasmine teas, and they have Oolong Tea which is really nice. It's great that you can choose your toppings separately (and they have lots of different kinds like boba, aloe, pudding and my favorite herbal jelly), which means that you don't have to pay for it when you don't want any. And OMG, their boba is just the right texture, chewy and flavorful, with just the right amount of sweetness. So ADDICTIVE!!
Recently, I happened to drop by when they were serving their WOW drinks, which I never had before. Can I say WOW? The sweet cashier patiently explained to me that the bubbles are soaked in raw brown sugar and then the drinks are made with fresh milk AND you can get it with herbal jelly already included - how did they know that my favorite was herbal jelly?!? My friend isn't a big fan of herbal jelly, so he got the Oreo Wow Milk and said it was amazing, but he loved it so much that he wouldn't let me get a taste of it.
Anyways, this is sounding like too much of a love story, but I suppose it is one. The space is beautiful, spacious and clean, my kind of aesthetic! I'm really looking forward to the summer when I can hang outside next to the fountain with my favorite...
Read moreI'm a bit of a boba nut, so here are my thoughts. The honey boba itself is insanely good. It's the best I've had in the whole Beaverton/Hillsboro area and it's very consistent--no off days so far. The texture is firm but not tough and the flavor is great. I also love that they have two size options! The drinks themselves are fairly standard in terms of quality, although the large number of options is fun and they have some unique ones. Their taro powder tastes odd to me--kind of like butterscotch. If you're a taro fan I'd avoid it. It's obviously not fresh taro, they have too many options for that. If you want fresh taro go to Happy Lemon. Also, they have adjustable sweetness BUT it is not at all consistent, and I'm pretty sure that on some drinks they can't actually adjust it and they just pretend they will and leave it super sweet. This is not good because their default is crazy sweet. My usual order is the Kung Fu milk tea with extra boba, 30 percent sugar. I would give 4.5 stars if I could. I'm giving 5 because I think their overall google maps rating is too low.
TL/DR: Really good honey boba, weird tasting taro, watch out for seemingly fake/limited sweetness adjustment on some blended drinks...
