Cork City has some of the best beer selection I have ever had. However their service staff is terrible. Last night I went in with some friends. My friends were served, the waitress (I use the term waitress because this person broke all kinds of etiquette and I refuse to refer to her as a bartender) tells me she will be right with me. I then watch her go and serve 6 other people, then get my friends their second round of drinks. After 15 minutes of standing at the bar I finally flag down the other bar tender. As the waitress sees the bar tender getting my drinks she rushes over and asks what she can get for me, I politely tell her that I am already being helped. The night goes on and we have a few more drinks. I close out my tab while my friends are still drinking. I sign the reciept and leave it on the counter. The waitress insists that I fill in the total. I write down the total, planning to leave a cash tip before we leave. As soon as I set down the check she picks it up and asks if there was a problem with the service. I inform her that I was dissatisfied with the wait, at which point she launches into a tirade about how she only makes 2.16 an hour, how I should feel ashamed for not leaving a tip, how it would be cheaper for me to go home and drink a 6-pack alone, and how much she kicks ass at her job. Never before have I been treated so rudely or encountered such a strong sense of entitlement from service staff that they would think it is acceptable to berate a customer. Honestly, it was embarrassing and childish behavior that I am appalled to believe Cork City would condone. In summation, while Cork City has great beer, their employees need to learn...
Read moreBy food I mean the beer I haven't had the chance to eat there yet but the food looks good. Stopped by there yesterday since I was close to the location and had the pleasure of meeting an amazing bartender Sebastian. Answered all my questions, very knowledgeable about beer and was generous to allow me to sample before I picked what I wanted to drink. Atmosphere is laid-back, I was able to chat with a few other customers no issues, everybody was friendly. Exactly how a local bar should be, welcoming and warm. I also learned from him that they have a system ( which to me is very modern because I haven't heard about this ) but every time they change the keg there's an auto feature that cleans the line out by itself which makes a lot of sense because you don't want to have the taste of a sour beer in an IPA and vice versa or mix it up. When I found that out, I realized this is the place to go to for an amazing variety of beers which will always be guaranteed fresh because of their processes. Definitely worth a visit for some fresh cold beer with a great variety and knowledgeable bartender, can't get...
Read moreI went to the bar for a drink after work. It was midnight. Hours say 2 they are open until 2 am. I see multiple people inside. Both bartenders say they are closed.
Edit: a bartender came outside. I informed him that the website says they are open until 2 am. He said âwe can close whenever we want thatâs just a general thing.â There are still three customers inside that appear to be paying.
Edit: in response to cork city. There were a minimum of three people at the bar when I attempted to enter. Me and j buddy would...
