I don’t normally write reviews like this, but I kind of just can’t help it after our experience tonight.
I’ve been to Del Frisco’s in the city many times as well as other locations, but my wife and I went to the Hoboken location tonight and holy mackerel was it rough.
For starters, service times were incredibly slow, and I mean primarily from the kitchen. Our server wasn’t amazing either, but much of this was the fault of the kitchen. I was a server myself for a number of years a good while back at a few NYC fine dining establishments, so I understand first hand what can make or break a dinner service, and what is, or is not the fault of a server. Our water glasses were mostly empty and we saw our server a grand total of three times the whole dining experience. Our salads took almost 20 minutes to arrive, and our entrees ran over an hour. The restaurant still had empty tables too; it was not a completely full dinner service.
The food was embarrassingly bad for the Del Frisco’s name brand.
I ordered the Steak Frites, and the fries seemed like the same frozen set that is bought in bulk by Chilis or Applebees. The steak was an awful cut, mildly grey, and just not at all what you expect from a $35 steak entree and Del Frisco’s. I would’ve sent it back but, not sure what they would’ve replaced it with.
My wife had the Shrimp Fettuccine which was pretty decent.
The chairs were ripping apart on the top and felt like they could break apart. The menus felt dirty.
Two drinks, appetizer, and entrees (plus tax and 20% tip) was $150. We felt completely ripped off for $150. We left saying we would feel better paying $50 for a 16 Oz beer and a small hot dog at a baseball game rather than the $150 for the meal we had tonight, because at least you expect to feel utterly ripped off at a baseball game.
Dino and Harry’s, Ruth Chris, and Chart House are all substantially superior experiences for the same money. Heck, Zack’s a few blocks away has way better quality food on their menu, and you could have dessert and still save $40. I know because we just did that the week prior.
For the Del Frisco’s name brand, the entire experience was really unfortunate. I hope this location can fix...
Read moreI have been to this location quite a few times just because it’s usually pretty quiet/dead and the drinks are pretty good. I never really provided a review before because my experiences have been so up and down; sometimes it’s great, another, service would be poor. The actual food and drinks are never really the issue (so far). But today I wanted to leave a review because I just left and had a pretty unusual/negative experience. I came on a Sunday, a little after 3:30, which is within the window of happy hour (3pm-6pm). I sat down at the bar and I was given their normal drink and food menu. I honestly assumed that they no longer offered it on Sunday because I haven’t been there on a Sunday for probably a year, give or take, and I know these things can change often. I let it go because happy hour wasn’t the sole reason I decided to come, and so I ordered my meal and a drink. Shortly after my burger came out, two individuals came to sit next to me and they were immediately handed happy hour menus; they didn’t even have to ask. A gentleman came to the other side of me and he was also automatically given a happy hour menu. I was shocked. Shortly after finishing my drink, the bartender came and picked up my empty glass and I had to then ask for the happy hour menu. After receiving the HR menu, she never came back over to ask if I had decided on anything. No other bartender for that matter, came to check on me or take any subsequent orders from me. After waiting over 10 minutes, I changed my mind about it altogether and asked her for the check. I think it’s weird to give customers your normal menus when you’re well aware that it’s happy hour. In tandem with that, you’re selectively choosing who to give it to and who not to give it to, manipulating people into paying the full price for items when they could potentially pay half that,...
Read moreAlthough we were seated rather quickly, the first mistake they made was sitting a party of only 2 people at a table for 6?! Luckily I questioned if we could have a booth instead and one was quickly cleaned and we were reseated. Waited about ten mins before our server came over, and she promptly offered us a drink menu and water. We ordered drinks, an appetizer and sparkling water. Upon returning with the water, my boyfriend was given a dirty glass with lipstick on the edges and the glass smelled like wine. He noticed all of this right after he took a first sip and was instantly mortified. Obviously we are still battling a pandemic and he was concerned about catching something, drinking off of some unknown person. He alerted the server, who of course apologized and retrieved a clean glass for him. Second mistake was the crab cake was not even given to us hot, luke warm at best, but they had a dinner party they seemed to be more worried about. Once we got our food we thought things would be better. I got salmon, he got the roasted chicken and we got sides of roasted mushrooms and crispy Brussel sprouts. My salmon was SALTY, like that’s all I tasted, I could only eat half. His roasted chicken was good until he got to the inside of the leg/thigh, it was undercooked. The mushrooms were decent as I LOVE mushrooms. A guy I would assume was a manager came over and asked how everything was and my boyfriend replied terrible. He was not happy at all with the dinner experience overall and he NEVER complains!! The manager nor server didn’t offer a solution or even a simple drink, shot or even a complimentary appetizer as amends. Great location!! Very OFF in service and OFF in...
