I use to to be a regular to this place (not anymore) I use to always go for football Sundays (usually between Wicked Wolf and Green Rock) and what I could always count on is getting inside quick and it being just as a good time as the other two spots. Week 2 of the NFL season I went to the Jets homer and wanted to go out in Hoboken right after the game for 4pm games, the issue was what a mess this day ended up being with NJ transit to get to Hoboken from Met Life. Typically I would get to Hoboken by 5pm, did not get till 6pm. So at this point I just wanted to go inside and watch games, have drinks and a bite to eat. Tried Green Rock first, a line, not that bad, but it was packed (so line was valid) and I figured it might take 15 mins. So I decided(with my friend) to go to our other go to bar Texas.....walk up and around the corner we saw it was not packed at all (which I liked because I figured no wait) get around the corner to see 2-3 bouncers and 2 male customers waiting on line) Great, we will get in ASAP (what I thought) I mean, why wouldn't we??????????? Placed is half full, it is 6pm and only 2 people on line.....I waited 10 mins for these clowns to not even let the two guys in front of us. I totally understand waiting on line when a place is packed and there is actually a line, but this was the worse behavior I ever seen by a bar and staff. Why do this on a football Sunday when you know your customer base is coming to watch football and will be spending money??????? Talking to the two kids in front of us the one was in the military which the bouncers heard, deep down inside they saw we were mad but clowns like this love that( because this is what gets them off in life, power over people in line)
I repeat, place was half empty and nobody was on line but 4 total people for 10 mins. Just think about that on a football Sunday. I been going here for 5 plus years since moving to Hoboken and didn't see from outside any of the bartenders I am use to, owner who is always around and even the bouncers (RIP DARREN) Finally we just left went around the corner and place was good........days later I heard new ownership so that explains a lot. I don't get the tactic of making it look like you have a line outside when place is not close to pack....I get your competition wicked and green rock may have lines and it is an ego thing, but there lines were valid, are valid, people may leave there lines but not have a bad taste, if your goal is having people wait on line(when there really is no line for a half empty place) well people are going to leave with a very bad taste in their mouth. The bouncers were a joke, they were laughing when the 4 of us were talking how the place didn't look more then half full and just making us wait because it makes them feel BIG inside. I went to Texas for 5 years for football and plenty of Friday's and Saturdays, sometimes sole, sometimes with a friend or two and plenty of times with a big group, because of that behavior by staff on a football Sunday of all days, I will promise you I will never go back. Would love to see an owner's...
Read moreservice is good, the place is actually fun to check out after long day at the office but careful with a heavy set, Scarfaced bouncer who will go to any extent to make of your stay truly miserable.
To begin I have never seen so much condescending energy packed in one single person and I have never seen someone as rude allowed to even be part of the hospitality industry like this guy. He kept yelling at people, yelled at me a couple of times, beating his chest by calling the place “his”, telling people whatever he wanted to do at “his patio” (dude, we know you’re just an employee supposed to keep us all safe, not treat customers like garbage).
I got treated like my presence was not necessarily welcome from the moment I entered, the poor girl bartender seemed embarrassed and even overruled this gentleman’s random and targeted rules, namely not being allowed to drink at a table of my choice at the patio, with no apparent reason other that he didn’t like my pick (hello, I’m the guest here man), to be then overruled by the bartender, to be pulled out of the table and moved to one of his choice later on anyway.
The whole interaction honestly seemed like a prank you only see on TV but this guy was actually serious, totally nasty, rude and mean to me just for the sake of it.
I am a 18 year experienced member of the hospitality industry and if I was the owner of this bar I would fire this gentleman immediately, he’s not even fit to be a bouncer at a prison let alone a bar/restaurant.
I totally understand that bouncers need to have strong assertive energy should an altercation arise, but if there’s no altercations, and you’re just an a*hole for fun to guests, you do not belong there!!!
I plan on no returning to this establishment which is a shame considering the bartenders and service staff are super friendly and always do good for the guest. But I refuse to be targeted and treated like dirt by a person who has no business being part of anything hospitable, only because I wanted to grab a beer after a long day at the office.
Sad really sad for the owners, please act accordingly. And my apologies for this scathing review on this gentleman but you need to protect your business and honest feedback...
Read moreI wanted to give Texas Arizona a 5 star rating but , I’ll have you know that I was racially abused by the bouncer with the slash across his left cheek. The bouncer stated out loud in front of everyone in the establishment “ Black people always want something for free , I was on my way to catch the train and there was nowhere to use the restroom. I went inside and asked to use the restroom only to be called a racial slur by the bouncer. I also did purchase a bottle of water in which the bartender went to the back to get so I can purchase it, business is business, I respect that. I think the slur was very unnecessary and it made me feel extremely devastated. I did apologize to the bartender and the bouncer for asking to use the bathroom for free, however, if I was wrong for asking to use the bathroom for free, I feel like I didn’t deserve to be called a racial slur by the bouncer as a paying customer. As I walked out of the bar , I came across two transit police officers across the street by the train station and I also made them aware of what that particular bouncer said to me just in case he does that to someone else , you never know , he might take it a step further with the next person, at least they’ve been notified of what he does to people. I also have video , I’m unable to upload it but here’s a screenshot of...
