We moved to Honolulu August of 2016. Once I discovered the quality of the products sold by Down to Earth, I have been a loyal customer. The first year we lived in Waipahu and visited Down to Earth Kapolei regularly. When I found out how they are committed to vegetarianism (the only grocery store in the U.S. that can claim this, as far as I know), I applied for a job and got it. Unfortunately, I could not make their work hours and so never joined work, too bad. Fast forward, I now live in Honolulu and visit the Down to Earth on King street. Unfortunately, of late, I am seeing a string of over charging, of different kinds and more frequently recently. Earlier the reason used to be that the price changed, but was not updated in the computer systems. Recently, the reasons have been varied. Wrong product is most common. Three times before, it was Haas Avocados in place of Local Avocados. Today it was Lettuce instead of (local) Romaine Lettuce and some other tomatoes in place of local organic tomatoes. Two times before, I found cabbage wrongly labeled and charged at $30 per pound! Last time I was there, this lady had the nerve no charge for a generic name "Grocery or something" and key in the rate of her choice. She chose $3.99 and $4.99 when both were $2.99 per pound! Then she had me fill up a returns sheet and encouraged me to fill in just my name and number while I was busy filling in the reason for the "returns". Two of these four times they apologized for the error and the other two times there was none offered. Today's cashier confessed that "I am fried", so maybe they are all overworked. Whatever it is, beware of...

This is both a grocery store and a deli. I didn't go in with high expectations as I thought it was a regular deli. But I was so impressed with the food options here that I went back thrice during my stay in Waikiki. You get some of the freshest produce (even cut fruits sold in boxes are fresh!), and the deli has a wide range of options. It was the perfect place for a vegetarian like me. If you're in a hurry, this is a quick stop to pick up delicious, warm food, or just cut fruits and coconut water.

Quality: Produce is fresh, Deli has a wide range of options

Deli options: Self-serve style, have sit-down tables. The menu changes almost everyday and offers a wide range of options for both vegan/vegetarian and otherwise. When I went, some items they had Korean (kimchi fried rice, veggie potstickers), Italian (vegetarian lasagna, Alfredo pasta, fresh bread), Indian (potato peas curry, basmati rice, stir fried veggies with Indian spices), Japanese (vegan sushi), some fresh and egg rolls, and a whole range of salad options.

Vegan/Vegetarian options: Lots

Price: It's actually higher than average grocery stores, but I feel its totally worth it for the quality. If you want to go back everyday for like a week, it might be expensive.

Parking: There are a few street-parking spots right in front of the store. But they are time restricted, so make sure to read them. There's a Bartell drugs store right opposite and I found parking there was...

I came here a few days ago while my other half was shopping at a nearby store. It had been quite some time since I last visited, and I was pleasantly surprised when I walked through the doors. First, their selection was a lot larger than I'd last remembered. They have a lot of new and pretty niche brands. I probably spent about 30 minutes there just perusing the aisles, looking for different types of products. I ended up settling on some fresh spring water from the machine that you will see pictured, some candied, ginger, medallions, and a squash that I planned to steam for dinner that night. I also saw a few videos on social media about people that hit up the smoothie bar here. Had I not eaten earlier, I probably would've opted for one of the viral smoothies. It's definitely on my list the next time that I stop in. They have an ample food court/hot bar in addition to the smoothie bar. And one of my favorite things about the store is actually their supplement/health section. It seemed pretty well stocked and carried some of my favorite brands. Parking is nice here as well. It's a little weird to find it first, but there is ample parking unless there is a event nearby. Overall, I recommend coming here if you want to support a co-op and are looking to pick up some health related items.

Love this place for the hot & cold meals. I don’t do heavy grocery shopping here but I look for deals as things can get expensive.

Update; Down to Earth on King St. Just before University Ave. Across Longs Drugs is now called the Honolulu Store with big sign across its roof DOWN TO EARTH. Met this St. Andrew's Priory girl hapa-haole still attending University that insisted on helping me find my special toothbrushes. She is Management Training very bubbly personality & quite charming, she told me she & friends were having dinner at Chart House ILikai while back stated my friends and I stayed after dinner listening to 3 other guys & myself entertaining music & singing 4 part harmony. They all enjoyed it, I said Cool, do you believe in love at first sight!? She said she believes in infatuation. Will you marry me, hold the press how old are you, she said 26 almost 27. Sorry, you're too old for me. She kept laughing I said I like the young kind! I was joking & didn't think it was that hilarious. Still laughing she said I love these colors! So I purchased both of them. I asked her to make a plate for herself my treat, said your so nice. Paid for hers, myself & 2 toothbrushes. Took a photograph then said goodbye I'm 5 minutes late for my 4th. Covid 19 phiszer vaccine in Longs. I'm posting special toothbrushes. Try it, totally awesome!
