There are not enough words for this place!! We stayed at the Luana Waikiki Hotel that the Fish Hook Cafe is connected to. Both businesses were wonderful! The location of the restaurant was not only very convenient for us, but also so much more than we expected. We did try other places since it was our first trip here, but this was definitely our go to for breakfast. Most mornings I had the Breakfast Croissant and my husband had the Fried Rice Plate both were excellent! We stopped in for lunch one day as well and I had a delicious poke bowl and my husband had the Black Bean Chicken that was also very delicious and marinated perfectly. Besides the food being amazing, the staff was amazing too! Our first morning here we met Ki, he was fantastic and greeted every single person with a smile. We then met John, he was the exact same! They really make an effort to get to know you and why you’re here and remember you. They both gave my husband and I wonderful recommendations for things to do and we tried to do some of their favorite things! We will not forget the genuine connections made with them and their friendship while on our trip! Thank you both for a great start to every day we had here and thank you to the rest of the staff for creating the most delicious food we had the chance to try!! We hope to be back one day and see you all again! Mahalo ☺️ -The Yorks

おいしいとんかつ Finally, a place in Waikiki that I can enjoy Tonkatsu without the need of a reservation. Came here this morning and decided to come back for lunch. I had the fried rice plate from the breakfast menu and I heard the chef saying “Tonkatsu” to confirm the order. So I guess you can order lunch menu items for breakfast as well. I ate the whole plate of fried rice without taking a picture. I loved the fried eggs on top of the fried rice. Their Tonkatsu is not the mall food court Tonkatsu, it’s well plated with salad and rice seasoned with sesame. You can tell the chef’s efforts just by the salad dressing. It’s a cozy eatery that you can’t really see from the street but the service is excellent as well as the quality of the food preparation. I just came back from Japan and their food reminds me of all those extraordinary dining experiences I had there. It’s great to hear that they will expand their menu and eventually resume dinner service.

Although small, this cafe had really some special dishes. The location is on the right of the entrance of the Luana Waikiki Hotel as you walk up the stairs from the driveway. Don't follow the sign on the right side of the hotel that points up the ramp into the side entrance of the lobby since you'll think that there is no cafe. If you do enter this easy, walk out the front door and the cafe is on the left. Very small cafe with an open kitchen. Unique menu with some Hawaiian specialties. They also have pastries, fresh juices and coffee so stop here for breakfast or lunch. Definitely a hidden gem and worth a stop.

This place is a hidden gem in Waikiki on the Kalakaua Ave. just before the main strip of activity in the hustle and bustle of the most touristy area. I've passed this place many times and never really took notice until their sign called out to me and hooked me in when I was hungry and didn't want to go far from where I lived in the area.

It is small with only 4 tall tables for 2 and a 1 long table that can hold about 6, but I got lucky and it wasn't to busy so I got a table for myself and was quickly served. If dinning in is not your thing, they do have a grab and go refrigerator as well as can do anything on their menu as take out if you should chose.

Poke is their thing and seem to do it very good. The menu isn't large, but there should be something for just about anyone with any taste. Today I had the Torched Kimchee Salmon Bowl with was very good. The flavors were good yet simple. Very attentively created, prepared, and plated. I was happy with this dish overall, but after looking at the other tables who ordered poke bowl with somen noodles, with I had gone for that flavor heave instead. They looked so incredibly good and the dinners eating them kept gasping with positive comments while they devoured their dishes.

For Waikiki, the prices were pretty reasonable and the service good. I plan to go back for sure and try a poke bowl next time. This place I would recommend to other to try, so if you are in the area,...
