HOTEL LA CROIX IS A NIGHTMARE â AVOID AT ALL COSTS
This was the WORST hotel experience weâve ever had. We travel constantly and have stayed at hotels all over the world. We are not complainers, but Hotel La Croix is so shockingly incompetent, dishonest, and mismanaged that we had no choice but to warn others.
CHECK-IN NIGHTMARE & SERIOUS SECURITY BREACH After waiting an hour just to check in, we were finally given our keyâonly to walk into a room that was already occupied.
Yes, we walked into someone elseâs room. Clothes everywhere. Imagine if the guest had been naked or in a vulnerable position. This is a serious security violation that should have resulted in immediate intervention from management. Instead, we got a pathetic, mumbled âsorryâ from Kaya (Dumb #1) at the front desk, who, along with her equally useless coworker, couldn't care less.
ROOM #2 â STILL A PROBLEM Our second room wasnât occupied, but the fridge was leaking. Back downstairs we went, and this is when the âmanager,â Kansas, finally stepped in. His solution?
A laughable $7 discount on valet (from $45 to $38). Comping one night of the resort fee. "Upgrading" us to a two-balcony room.
ROOM #3 â âUPGRADEDâ TO WHAT, EXACTLY? The so-called upgrade was a joke.
One of the balconies was completely uselessâit had no furniture and was in front of the door. The only differences from our last room? A small Keurig and a red fridge. THE AC DIDNâT WORK. We set it to 61 degrees for two days, and it never dropped below 70.
ROOM #4 â THE FINAL STRAW After sweating for two days, we demanded another room. Instead of immediately fixing the problem, Kansas wasted another 35 minutes sending maintenance to "verify" if the AC was really broken.
The maintenance worker? More competent than Kansas. In two minutes, he checked and said, âYeah, itâs hot in here.â No surprise.
Only then did they finally move usâbut not to the same upgraded room. At this point, we just wanted functioning AC.
RANDOM CHARGES â HOTEL LA CROIX IS A SCAM Just as we thought we could finally enjoy our trip, we checked our bank account and found random charges:
$379.08 $675.88
We already paid online, so what the hell were these for? When we confronted Kansas, he first blamed Expedia.
After another long fight, suddenly, he had the magical ability to waive everything.
Valet dropped from $45 to $38 to $22 to FREE. Resort fees went from one night waived to completely waived. The mystery charges disappeared.
It was clear he was making numbers up and hoping we wouldnât notice. CHECK YOUR BANK ACCOUNT IF YOU STAY HERE.
STAFF = USELESS Dumb & Dumber (Kaya included) wouldnât even make eye contact after all their mistakes. NO PHONES IN THE ROOMS. You have to text for assistance. We texted for towelsânever got them. Beach towels arenât includedâyou have to PAY EXTRA. What the hell are the resort fees even for?
THE ONLY COMPETENT WORKERS? VALET. The ONLY people who knew how to do their jobs were the valet workers. They were polite, fast, and professionalâunlike everyone else here.
THE FINAL INSULT â A PATHETIC âSORRYâ GIFT After ruining our trip and trying to scam us out of hundreds of dollars, what did they offer as an apology?
A box of chocolate macadamia nuts.
And not even from Kansasâanother worker awkwardly handed them to us.
Wow, thanks for the gas station chocolates, totally makes up for the nightmare you put us through.
FINAL VERDICT â AVOID AT ALL COSTS Hotel La Croix is an absolute disgrace. Itâs a scam, run by incompetent morons who lie, cheat, and steal from guests.
They give away keys to OCCUPIED ROOMS. They make you switch rooms FOUR TIMES because NOTHING WORKS. They scam guests with random charges. They make you fight for refunds they âcanâtâ processâuntil they magically can. They canât even provide BASIC necessities like towels or working AC.
This place is an embarrassment.

Read moreTHE ABSOLUTE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE â A COMPLETE FRAUD! If you donât want to throw your time, money, and peace of mind out the window, STAY AWAY FROM HOTEL LA CROIX. This place is an utter disaster from every angle, and itâs clear the staff is a bunch of incompetent amateurswho have no business being in the hotel industry. CHECK-IN: A NIGHTMARE FROM THE START We waited AN ENTIRE HOUR just to check in with one of the clueless, unprofessional teenage girls behind the desk. That shouldâve been our first warning. But it only got worse from there. We had to switch rooms FOUR TIMES because this hotel canât get anything right. First room? Already OCCUPIED. Imagine walking into a room full of someone elseâs belongings. It couldâve been a total disaster if anyone was thereâa huge security concern. And what did we get? A pathetic âsorryâ from Kaya, one of the two incompetent front desk staff who could barely string a sentence together. Seriously, this should get her fired. Second room? LEAKING FRIDGE. We went back to the front desk. Enter Kansas, the so-called âmanager,â who gave us a laughable âdiscountââdropping valet from $45 to $38 like thatâs some kind of fixâand offered ONE NIGHT of resort fees for compensation. Oh, and letâs not forget the âupgradeâ to a two-balcony roomâwhich was a joke. THE âUPGRADEâ THAT WAS A SCAM The âupgradeâ? Absolutely pointless. One balcony was literally useless, stuck in front of the door with no furniture. The only thing different was a tiny Keurig and a red fridge. And guess what? The AC didnât work. We turned the thermostat down to 61 degrees for TWO DAYS, and the room stubbornly stayed at 70 degrees. We asked to switch rooms again, and of course, Kansasâthe useless toolâtried to talk us out of it. He even sent maintenance up to âcheckâ the AC, and after two minutes, they confirmed: âyeah, itâs hot in here.â No kidding. We moved yet againâat this point, we were just desperate for a room that didnât suck. MYSTERIOUS CHARGES AND A SCAM IN PROGRESS When we thought this nightmare was finally over, we checked our bank account and found random charges. What are these charges for? We already paid for our stay in advance! When we confronted Kansas, his first excuse was blaming Expedia. After another hour of arguing, he somehow magically managed to waive all the charges. Convenient, right? Valet fees started at $45, then went to $38, then $22, and suddenly, FREE. Resort fees? First, one night waived, then half, and eventually ALL of it. Is he just making these numbers up as he goes? This hotel is a complete scam. And for an apology? They gave us a box of chocolate macadamia nuts. Are you serious? OTHER PROBLEMS BECAUSE WHY NOT? â˘Â    Kaya and her partner in incompetence wouldnât even look us in the eye after their constant screw-ups. If I were them, Iâd be embarrassed too. â˘Â    Beach towels arenât included. You have to pay extra for them. What the hell are the resort fees for then? â˘Â    The last room we got had dirty sugar packets, disgusting floors that turned our feet BLACK, and a toilet that sounded like a jet engine and took two flushes to work. THE ONLY GOOD PART? â˘Â    Valet was actually polite. They were the only staff who greeted us with a smile. â˘Â    Baby Jean is the only person who actually cared. She tried to salvage this entire disaster by helping us move, and doing her best to fix everything. FINAL VERDICT: NEVER STAY HERE. EVER. Hotel La Croix is an absolute scam. The management is a joke, the front desk is run by total morons, the rooms are broken, the AC doesnât work, and they will charge your card for random amounts, hoping you donât notice. This was the worst hotel experience of my life. DO NOT STAY HERE. Youâll be better off...
Read moreJust got back from a quick last-minute three day trip to Oahu for my birthday. Booked this hotel for the location and the rates, also had great reviews on TripAdvisor. We are so so so so glad we chose this hotel! First of all, they have a really good local discount, and the price canât be beat for this class of hotel. The rooms are small, but have been renovated and are quite clean. We had a king room with a nice size TV and a good size fridge/freezer. We really appreciate it. They have a free ice machine and filtered water machine as well as a microwave. My husband has a pretty strict diet so we tend to bring food with us on vacation and he was able to use the big fridge in the microwave quite often. They also have quite operated laundry if you need it
The housekeeping staff were so kind and friendly and super helpful, offering us extra towels and supplies whenever we saw them in the hall. The highlight of this hotel is the staff. From the second we walked in, John greeted us, (I recognized his name from the TripAdvisor reviews) and when I mentioned it, he just lit up! He lives up to all the review hype!! Apparently he is also a dream at the poolside bar, so make sure you go see him! Speaking of the poolside bar, we were so lucky to have Vincent as our bartender, he is SO sweet, so nice, makes incredible drinks and was so cute to make a big deal about my birthday đ . We had the best time just chatting away with him, I couldâve spent all day up there hanging with him . AND the drinks are absolutely delicious! The ube piĂąa colada and the mango mule were so delish! The pool also has a nice deck with chairs and lounging couches and large outdoor games like Connect 4 and Jenga. The infinity pool is small and definitely heated and has a nice view of the city because itâs on a upper floor. Super clean pool and deck area, awesome for lounging with a great vibe. We also had the amazing pleasure of meeting Shaun Kennedy, the ops manager - what a guy!! Ended up chatting with him for a long time and he also went way out of his way to celebrate my birthday - he and Vincent put a happy birthday song on the speakers by the pool and brought cheesecake with a candle! I felt so special. Then when I got back to my room, Shaun had arranged a surprise in our room- a cake made out towels arranged on the bed and a box of macadamia nut chocolates đ Whoever is doing the hiring here should win a gold medal and all these folks should get raises or bonuses because they are the reason weâll be coming back!! Alice at the front desk was also so sweet and so friendly and helpful. We will definitely make this our go-to hotel when we come to the island. We live on Big Island so will come more often now that we have a spot we really like to stay. Tha k you everyone who made our stay amazing. See you...
