My parents and I decided to try this spot as the place they normally go to was busy and we wanted to get breakfast nearby to their apartment. The hostess who took our order at the front door was very friendly and guided us through the menu. I ordered to Loco Moco and my Mom ordered the Guava French Toast along with thread cups of coffee. After we picked our table that provided us a view of the street, we marveled at getting this prime spot of a table… as we drank our coffees, we started noticing that parties that ordered after us were already getting their food. We waited and we waited… after 30 minutes our food still hadn’t shown up. I went to the kitchen area to follow up and they said it’d take 3 minutes. 10 minutes later, still no food. We were ready to leave and just say “F it” (since we paid for the food when we ordered at the front) when the food FINALLY arrived. The hostess came by to apologize for the delay and stated that this never happens. Anyways, the Loco Moco has good, but the French toast was not great; it was too dry and came with no syrup. We also ordered smoothies, but they were just too sweet; more like fruit slushies. I don’t think I’d come back to this place unless there is no other choice…

My friends and I came here not too long ago and the food was so good. I ordered the Kayak Wagyu Loco Moco with Breakfast Potatoes on the side and their Iced Ocean Cappuccino. The eggs were nicely seasoned as well the whole meal. Love me a nice runny egg. The owner was very friendly and checked up on us after we ate to get some feedback. My friends ordered the Chicken Fired Steak which was HUGE. There was a mix-up with an order but we were given a sandwich that was really good. Everyone was really nice and checked up on us regularly. The only thing that was an issue was that we weren't handed any silverware when we first arrived but aside from that excellent service. Definitely recommend stopping by. The best part is that the menu is on QR code so no need to worry about splitting the bill, everyone gets their own individual bill that you can pay right then and there.

I think management can fix the discrepancies. We were heading to another restaurant when we saw Kayak Cafe and decided to give it a chance. As we walked in there seemed to be one waiter working three tables and trying to manage the hostess position. It took a while but we were eventually seated. With only a few tables it took 45 minutes for our three meals to arrive but my wife’s plate came with cold fries. We ordered the wagyu burger, pesto pasta with shrimp, and spaghetti with meatballs. Overall it tasted good, I had no left overs to take but the service was really slow. No fault to Blake but he needed help on the floor. I’m not sure why but we were also handed two menus for different restaurants sharing the same location (?) strange. The food was good nonetheless and the atmosphere was comfortable.

A group of 8 of us had an amazing experience at Kayak Cafe which is located on the corner of Ala Moana Blvd and Ena Road. The service was exemplary and the food was delicious. Our server, Roxanna, was very attentive, very personable, and took excellent care of us. We couldn't have been more pleased with the service. The food was cooked perfectly to order, arriving hot to the table, the salads were fresh and crisp, the portions were generous, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their choices. We were there between the time that brunch is usually served and the lunch hours, so we were given the choice to order from either menu. Some of us opted for lunch and some for breakfast and everything was perfect. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very clean and they offer outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. They have really good coffee, espresso, cappuccino and other specialty drinks. I had the cappuccino, which was excellent, and when two of us ordered regular coffee, they brewed us a fresh pot! The also have excellent fresh brewed ice tea. If anyone is gluten intolerant as I am, they have delicious gluten free pizza on the menu as well as other gluten free choices. The management has recently hired new staff and they obviously have gotten excellent training. We will definitely come back again and highly recommend that you give them a try! If you have been there before, you will be amazed at how much...

We had an unexpected layover in Honolulu when our flight had problems. The Kayak Cafe was walking distance from our hotel. We were not in very good spirits when we arrived as we were tired and frustrated. However, from the moment that we crossed the threshold until the time we left, the service was exceptional. We were greeted in a friendly manner by the host who allowed us to peruse the menu before deciding to come in. We asked for a table on the lanai and were able to be seated where we could watch the activity on the streets below.

Our waiter, Devon, was awesome. He apologized because he was the only waiter working the area where we were seated and he had a large party to tend to as well as us and several other tables. He kept checking on us throughout the meal to make sure we had all that we needed.

The food was delicious. We ordered a calamari appetizer which was cooked to perfection. Then we shared a cucumber feta salad and a pizza. Both were really perfect. The cucumbers were really fresh and the salad was beautifully presented. The red onions on top tasted as though they had been freshly chopped rather than sitting in a bowl waiting to finish off a dish. The pizza was hot and very very tasty.

As mentioned previously, our waiter, Devon, was excellent. If we return to Hawaii and are in the Waikiki area we will return, especially if Devon is...

W.S.E. Or better said, worst service ever! I’m really not the type to complain about service but this one deserves the attention. This just happened earlier today.

We stopped by on our morning walk around the area to eat there because the menu and place looked nice, and there was outdoor seating. My girlfriend had a drink with her meal, an açaí bowl and mimosa, I had the wagyu loco moco which looked good when I came out. Althoigh the gravy was bland, there wasn’t enough for me to finish this dish so I requested more on the side. The restaurant did not seem terribly busy and for this to take so long was remarkable. When the server forgets about you altogether, it would make you just want to leave. That’s what we decided to do.

Another employee attempted to explain what had happened to the manager, I heard the apologies which was fine, these things happen. He was happy to take the payment in full once he confirmed that the bill did not include the charge for the gravy on the side. I wouldn’t ever recommend anyone to go there.

My suggestion to the manager is to pay closer attention to what’s happening with your guests, show more support for your team members (especially if they are new) train them better or hey, close it down. There’s plenty places in Hawaii to get a burger patty, white rice, eggs, and more gravy that...
