Very Good: Service (my mom & my aunt enjoyed the foot massage they got!)

Bad: Description of service on their website was not exactly the service provided to my mom & my aunt.

Today, 3/5/19, I wanted to do something nice for my mom & my aunt...especially it's been a rough day for them dealing with my dad's heart surgery.

So, today I booked online a couple's massage for my mom & my aunt (I live in California, my parents live in the Big Island).

I read the descriptions of all of the services on their website. I called the place & spoke with Anna. She's very sweet and she told me that not only will I get 15% discount if I book online, but the services will also come with free hot stone therapy. I thought that was fantastic!

I selected the 1-hour "Reflexology Therapy Massage (Head Hand and Foot Spa with black charcoal purifying scrub). See screen shot attached below.

About 45 minutes before their appointment at 4pm, I called Anna again and told her that I'm getting Reflexology massage for my mom & my aunt. She said yes.

However, my mom & my aunt only got a foot massage. I found out about this when I called my mom around 8:30pm Hawaii time. She told me her experience.

So I called back & spoke with Anna again. She said that the therapist told her that foot massage is what my mom wanted, which is not true. My mom didn't know what types of massages they offer there. I told her that I got them a Reflexology massage but I did not tell her what comes with the Reflexology massage, so she had no idea...but Anna and I already spoke on the phone beforehand, so my mom and my aunt just had to go there and enjoy their massage.

She said that when they got there, the therapists didn't ask them anything. They just let them sit and started the foot massage. My mom said that AFTER they finished the foot massage, the therapist asked them if they wanted a body massage as well, and if so, they have to pay an additional $60. My mom & my aunt were happy for the foot massage they got. I'm glad they enjoyed it! But, they also didn't know that they were supposed to get head & hand massage as well. So, because they didn't get head & hand massage as part of the Reflexology massage, I was very disappointed.

To resolve the issue, Anna offered to give my mom & my aunt a free $30 minutes scalp & hand massage. I told my mom & my aunt but they're hesitant to go back there. I tried to convince them but she said, "we'll see if we have free time tomorrow". I hope they can make it tomorrow.

I appreciate Anna for trying to resolve this matter reasonably.

I just hope that something like this won't happen again...

My husband and I went here last night and had a couples massage. We were both happy with the service! Usually I have a hard time finding a masseuse that can both find my problem areas and use enough pressure to release any of the tension. The lady that I had was extremely strong and I had to actually ask her to use less pressure which has never happened- like ever. The only thing I can say is I wish she'd slowed her pace down a smidge to make it a bit more relaxing during the process. Afterward though, my body almost felt younger.. felt so much looser and like my back was straighter. As for the atmosphere, it is kind of dark when you walk in and the room we were in was a bit musty. Sheets were clean and fresh smelling though. I'd say, if you want a fancy place and a fluffy massage, you'll probably have to go somewhere else and you'll pay upwards of $200 or more for a couples massage. I was disappointed my masseuse didn't listen to me when I asked them to focus on a specific area. There's a 10% discount for booking online, so I chose a deep tissue as my back really hurt from the hotel bed, but recieved a standard Thai massage - I assumed the masseuse knew what kind I had booked and also didn't ask me prior to treatment. The back walking was actually the best part, but found the rest of the hour wasn't at the right pressure or area.

Also, I wish they would raise their prices and pay their staff properly as I was really pressured into providing a tip at payment. When I asked if tipping was mandatory after being told twice "tip isn't included", the woman taking payment said yes, so it was an uncomfortable way to end the experience because I didn't want to pay a gratuity as I didn't receive...
