We've explored so many spots in HNL over the decades of loving the area. One particular restaurant that we have come back to year after year is Hiking Hawaii Cafe. Its close walking distance proximity to the Hilton Hawaiian Village is so convenient for a great meal away from the resort. One of the big reasons we have loved Hiking Hawaii is its wide variety of offerings for all tastes and appetites. From bowls to pizza to wraps and salads, HH has got you covered. Every single item that we've tried has been so reliably delicious. My kids particularly love the bagel sandwiches and other breakfast offerings. And one of the most amazing breakfast items is the Surfer's Souffle. This is like french toast on steroids! It is simply amazing and a must try. And let's not forget that HH also excels at smoothies and a whole variety of hot & cold drinks. I personally love the Mexican Hot Choco Latte! All of the tasty goodness offered by HH is further complemented by truly amazing hospitality from the owner Matt down to all of his staff. We simply feel so welcomed at Hiking Hawaii Cafe. And because of this, we will always be coming back here!

Tucked to the left side of the lower lobby at the Doubletree Alana Waikiki, Hiking Hawaii Cafe is a true gem. From the eclectic decor, chill vibes, and a hybrid remote work-sip-relax-and-recharge spot, the cafe transports you to old Waikiki. **** Review Update**** 11 out of 10. No exaggeration this Surfer’s Soufflé French Toast from Hiking Hawaii Cafe in Honolulu is the best I have ever had. Matt and his team full sent it with this one!!! Carb up ⬆️ before you carve out 🏄‍♂️. I am honored to be their test subject for this new menu item and any future ones 🤓 (They also have healthy stuff like açaí bowls and other breakfast staples) I had the Breakfast Burrito and an ice-cold fresh pineapple juice. Super delicious and the salsa is perfect on it!!! Fast, friendly staff and great prices. Definitely add this to your pre-hike planning and check out their website to book your next guided hike. I hear they’re getting a liquor license soon too!!

Okay, so funny story with this one. I love to hike. So my friend Mark and I decided to make a day trip of it by heading up Wili Wili Nui in Hawaii Kai. About halfway up we ran into this unique charismatic lady whose name we learned was Crystal. After making small talk for a few minutes and hearing about all of her amazing world travels, we learned she owned this little cafe in the DoubleTree Waikiki called "Hiking Hawaii Cafe". Intrigued by our conversation, we decided it was worth checking out. Now I can say this is my favorite place to go for Acai bowls and cold brew coffee anytime I'm townside. The Summit Açai Bowl is life! The atmosphere is comfy and has games to keep you entertained; and most importantly, the coffee hits right and better than your, run of the mill, Starbucks. Give this place a try and strike up a conversation with Crystal if she's there. Her passion really resonates in this place. Love it!

I had a terrible experience at this coffee shop. I ordered an iced chai latte from the special latte menu. The guy working handed me a hot latte, and when I pointed out that I had ordered it iced, he insisted I ordered hot but offered to make it iced. He brought me the iced version, but when I tasted it, it was awful. I drink chai regularly, and this tasted completely off—it wasn’t coffee-flavored at all; it was more like watered-down, overly spicy chai.

I told the guy about the taste, and his response was pretty dismissive. He simply said, "Oh, yeah, people either love or hate our chai," and walked away. When I tried to explain further, he was argumentative, saying I would have to pay for another latte. I had already spent $10 on the drink that tasted horrible! I also had some questions about sizing and shots for the latte. He told me that small and medium sizes get two shots, and a large gets three, but he didn’t mention that the special lattes only come in one size. So, I have no idea what I even ordered, but I do know the drink tasted bad, and the guy working was rude and argumentative.

The oatmeal was decent, but that was the only redeeming quality. I ended up paying over $20 with tip for this experience. It’s frustrating when a coffee shop doesn’t care about the quality of the product they serve and the guy working seemed to think that his version of a "good" drink should be the same for everyone. If you’re looking for a place with good customer service and good coffee, I definitely wouldn’t...

Beautiful Food and Beautiful People at this wonderful breakfast and lunch cafe. We’ve had Açaí Bowls every morning for the past 3 weeks here and have truly enjoyed each one—fresh, healthy, and delicious! They are able to incorporate plant based items and vegan protein into their bowls, which adds another layer of healthy nutrition to start your day off. Recently, I’ve read the other reviews about the wait times, and personally wouldn’t weigh that too heavily or give those reviews much thought at all. Like anything in Hawaii, if it’s good (the surf at Waimea, the sunrise pillbox hike at Lanikai, other great food establishments, or this place) there will be a line. That consistent customer demand should speak to how clean and delicious their bowls are. We’ve enjoyed sipping our coffee inside the cafe or outside on the steps and taking in the fresh Hawaiian air while we know our food is being handmade each time.

Additionally, you truly feel the Aloha and Ohana vibe when you eat here. We have a little daughter that we bring with us every morning, and Kendall and her team have been so warm and welcoming to us every single day always taking a few minutes to chat. It really makes a difference starting your day off surrounded by kind and lovely people. P.S. Get your Shazam ready because they play some dope music while they’re cooking up...

We had one bad meal in 8 days on the island and it was here. The food was edible and nobody got sick but ooohh the service. 🤦‍♀️ We stood at the register for 5 minutes without even being acknowledged as the girl behind the counter finished her conversation with her friend. There were only two tables occupied although the rest were all dirty and there was at least a crew of 4 working. We placed our order and the girl did come out to clean the table of our choice but just that one and then went back to chit chatting. There's a self serve water dispenser but it was empty. We asked if it could be refilled and she sent one of the guys out to retrieve it but it never returned. Our food came out with no utensils and without the drinks we had ordered. We were told that the drinks take longer than the food to make but that they would be out shortly... they weren't. We went back to the counter to get utensils and had finished our meals before we got our drinks and then finished our drinks before the water dispenser was replaced so no water to wash down less than mediocre coffee that gave us both heartburn for the rest of the day. I cannot for the life of me understand the high rating...
