When we visited, the store hours were 8am-2pm instead of 10am-2pm. Go early for the best selection!
This is a hidden gem that I hope everyone finds. How do you beat the trifecta of deliciousness, affordability, and quality ingredients? This place is tucked away inside the arched gateway of Eaton Square. On our recent trip to Oahu, we tried these during our first visit:
Kilauea - round rice patty shaped with chicken and spicy tuna filling, wrapped in seaweed with chicken and spicy tuna. Almost a meal on its own.
Pork Kakuni & Egg - we called this the ramen onigiri because of the egg
Ten Musu - shrimp tempura
All three were so good. The rice was fluffy and perfectly cooked. I normally don’t even like onigiris because I feel like I am just eating rice, but Komedokoro’s made me realize I haven’t had any good ones yet. Their filling to rice ratio makes them perfectly balanced.
We went back the next day to stock up for our flight back. We bought a variety of spam musubis, onigiris, and bento boxes. My kids said this place was their favorite meal in Hawaii. I personally think this is the best...
Read moreIt’s inside Eaton Square in Waikiki, right in front of the big fish pond once you walk past the entrance. It’s next to a sandwich café (same owner). They close at 2 pm, for breakfast and lunch only. I grabbed a shrimp bento and tried the pork and egg musubi, which was incredible—not a standard musubi, but one with pork inside the rice and on top. The bentos are only around $9, which is an amazing value for Waikiki where prices like that are almost unheard of. They also offer made-to-order items like pork bowls, beef bowls, and poke. Everything was high quality, delicious, filling, and prepared by a friendly Japanese staff. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more, but the pork and egg musubi is a must. bring cash to avoid the credit card fee. Update. Beef bowl is made to order and is delicious. My...
Read moreThis place is so cheap compared to the many restaurants near waikiki and the food is so good! The rice used in their food is from Japan and milled in the store. The way they cooked the rice and the way it tastes is much better than many of the other musubis I have tried in the area.
I have tried their nori bento, a few different musubis, and an ahi poke bowl. They also have a salmon and ikura bowl that I want to go back and try. The bowls are made to order but they have some musubis and bentos already made if you are in a hurry.
I also tried their yakisoba but wasn't a big fan of it. The rice dishes are their stand out products. This place seems to be pretty popular so selection for ready made items might be limited if you...
