This place was recommended to me by some friends. Sadly, the food and service were disappointing. The place seemed to have a good atmosphere and several tables were seated, but there were a handful of empty ones also. I waited to be seated for almost 10 minutes with staff just walking by. When I finally was acknowledged, I was asked to wait so they could clear a table. I was sat, but that was it for the next 7 minutes. No greeting from a waiter. My waiter came by then told me the menu was online and to just scan the QR code with my phone and he’d be right back. Didn’t even ask if I wanted anything to drink. A few minutes later he did bring me an appetizer plate and a small glass of water and told me the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes so I needed to place my order soon if I wanted anything. He then left and said he’d come back. The online menu looked good and I’d made my decision. I put my phone down then sat for a few more minutes. I had to wave him down to let him know that I was ready to order as I was watching the time ticking by. It was now 8:50 and they close at 9:30. I ordered the chicken quesadillas and two beef tacos. 9:10 and the tacos were brought out by a different waiter. I didn’t get to ask about the quesadillas because they just turned around and walked away. I figured the quesadillas were coming soon. I ate the two tacos, but they were pretty soggy like it had sat for a bit before it got brought out. I was hungry, so I ate it nonetheless. The texture was right, but for being Mexican food, it was pretty bland. I would have put some salt in it, but there was none on the table. 9:23 I look up at my waiter as he’s passing by and he informs me my quesadillas are still coming. I asked, didn’t they close at 9:30 and why wasn’t it brought out with my tacos? He said they were shortstaffed in the kitchen and will check on the order. I informed him that it was already getting late and know they would be closing at 9:30. He said they could stay open longer if needed. I informed him it wasn’t necessary and if he could just cancel the order. I then then ask him for a Coke and the check. He asked if I still wanted the quesadillas. I told him no need. I rode a moped in and could not carry it. He did bring me the check and informed me he removed the quesadillas and didn’t charge me for the Coke. He did bring me a Mexican Coke in a cold glass bottle, which was awesome! It was the highlight of my meal.
I do understand what it’s like to work shorthanded, so will give them a little slack. I will check this place out again in the future and see if it’s a better experience.
For now, I’m sticking with my...
Read moreLegit review from two Mexicanas. My mother and I ate here today; it was her last day on Oahu. She's from México and I'm first gen Mexican born in USA (TX) but I've lived in MX and mostly TX. I am picky about Mexican food and expect it to be really good, because it should be if its made correctly. We ate at another "Mexican" place here and literally it was horrible. Margaritas Sheridan was really good, being completely honest. We ordered 1 drink each: 1 Frozen mangoneada and 1 margarita. We shared steak nachos w/ guacamole, steak-shrimp fajitas, and churros w/ice cream. The chips were Delicious (crunchy, durable, salted, and flavorful), and the steak was salted and preped correctly. It was juicy and the right amount of chewy, only one piece of inedible gristle. The guac and cheeses were fantastic, very fresh, the right consistency. All the textures and flavors were present. Thank God. The steak fajita was so soft and tender. No weird greasiness. I did not leave feeling heavy or sluggish. They used black beans and Spanish (type) rice, not Mexican rice, but it was good and I rarely like Spanish rice. The "margarita" was on whole ice cubes so it was not a true margarita (like a slush or smoothie). Mom said it tasted good anyway. The frozen mangoneada was so yummy and I'd order one everyday. The shrimps and churros were burned so the cook just needs to be careful. I have given up completely to the other so-called Mexican food on Oahu because it's a sad disgrace. I would return to Margaritas in a heartbeat and also with my mom if she comes to Oahu (her name is Margarita, lol). We had a lovely convo and felt private even though we didn't talk quietly. Plenty of wind at our table, very clean, and the street traffic was not loud, nice loud indoor music, and decor. We left full and took our leftovers. $95 before tip. Genuine review....
Read moreMargaritas is sort of a fusion or modern Mexican themed restaurant in Waikiki. I'm a fan of Mexican food, so Margaritas stood out to me. To be fair, I'd actually give Margaritas a 3.5 based off of my experience, and full disclosure, I did not partake in any margaritas on the day. We showed up during happy hour, so the specials were available; happy hour deals consisted mainly of street tacos, tostadas, chips w/guac and salsa and, of course, margaritas at 1-2 dollars off of the regular menu price. We chose chips with salsa, two variants of the tostadas and two variants of the street tacos. Each order came with two tacos/tostadas. The chips tasted baked and were fairly stiff/firm, which worked great for dipping. I'd assume they'd also hold their form if you were to order a larger nachos loaded with toppings. The tacos and tostadas were fairly small and seemed more like appetizers than any sort of meal. They may very well have been intended as such, but it would have taken half the menu to fill me. I wanted to try the pork tostadas, but, conveniently, they were the only variant not available on the happy hour menu. All-in-all, Margaritas was not bad, it just wasnt really what we were looking for. Do not come here if you are looking for legit, authentic Mexican food. This would seem like a great place for a casual date or as a small,...
