NEW POKE SPOT I normally dont write reviews but this place swept me off my feet lol. Think top sashimi/sushi restaurant quality available as poke. Other poke places are satisfying, but for the same price, Morning Catch takes the gold… 🏆
Fish: 🐟 We got two 2-choice bowls- that way we were able to try as many types of pole as we could without getting too full. They have 1-choice bowls too. Our choices were Spicy ahi (classic option), Hawaiian Salt, Tobikko King salmon, and Kimchi tako. They all somehow went along perfectly with each other. The ahi and King salmon were so fatty and oily. We were initially a bit hesitant about the Kimchi tako (octopus lol), but it was AMAZING… not too spicy not too mild.
Sides: They have a wide variety or sides and toppings available (crab salad, sushi ginger, kimchi cucumbers) and different sauces which you can ask for the best recommendations (based on what types of poke you get). We went with spicy sauce and unagi sauce (perfect combo, highly recommend!)
Service: The girl working was very helpful in walking us through how to order- its different from other poke places- they dont pre-make the poke and serve it as they go, this place makes EVERYTHING to order. We also got to sit down to eat, they have a table with a few chairs out.
Location: The location is a bit more obscure than other places because its right in the Oahu market. Parking can be hit or miss depending on the time and day, we went at around 11:30 and parked on Kekaulike St. Not many people venture out here, but trust me, its worth it.
While this place is small, it definitely caught me this...
Read moreTucked away in the back of Oahu Market in Chinatown, this poke place advertises fresh poke unlike many of the shops that use frozen fish. Made to order, always a line so must be good🤙 Finally decided to try the poke bowls here since didnt want dim sum or pho today.... Ordered 2 choice poke bowls and the girl at the counter said about 10-15 minutes... No problem. Other people were waiting for their orders too so if youre in a rush, this isnt the place for you.
There are two tables on the side of the stall but are usually occupied so i got them to go. Ordered the spicy ahi and hamachi on white rice add crab salad and the spicy ahi and limu ahi add sushi rice. Came out to around $42 total which is on the pricier side but you get what you pay for🤙
Its in Chinatown so the surroundings isnt sparkly clean but you know the best restaurants are hole in the wall so....
Poke was fresh and melts in the mouth... Presentation was on point as how their social media posts were and it was actually filling. Would recommend over the popular ono seafood or foodland.... Idk why people think those are good...
Read moreFresh. Balanced. Flavorful. Morning catch, a small stall nuzzled in the back of a fish market in China Town has possibly some of the best poke I've had. The fish is cut fresh and is massive on flavor. I ordered the fresh hamachi (yellow tail tuna) and the salmon with tobikko over rice. They told me to come back in 10 minutes and I took the opportunity to browse some of the other stalls in the area. Btw lots of fresh fruit, fish, meat, and other delicacies nearby. Came back and got my poke. Boy was I in for a treat! The items I ordered were seemingly without soy sauce or even mayonnaise but had a smattering of red chili flakes and some pickled onions over a bed of furikake sprinkled rice. All of the flavors were perfectly balanced. A lot of poke has too much sauce for my taste, either too sweet, too salty, or too much mayo. This poke however had the perfect amount of saltiness and savoriness. It was delicate and well balanced. This is how...
