For inexpensive and decent dim sum and other Cantonese Chinese food favorites, this place is a great stop when in Chinatown of downtown Honolulu, When you walk in, you are immediately surrounded with the usual kitschy Chinese restaurant décor flare. It is great. It has all the classic Chinese looks with the noise and hustle & bustle that you would expect out of such a place.
They have a picture menu for their dim sum so it makes it quick and easy to order by just pointing to the menu verses waiting for the cart to come around. There is also a very extensive menu to order extra dishes from if dim sum is not enough for you.
Don't expect much as far as service. It might come across as rude to those who are not used to this time of environment, but this is what I expect and enjoy. It adds to the experience for me and is classic for this type of Chinese restaurant.
The big thing for me was the value. The prices are very reasonable and you get quality food. It isn't the best I've had, but I would eat there...
Read moreWe had a wandered into this place after walking around Chinatown. The menue looked good and it was full of what appeared to be locals. Good signs, right? WRONG. The bathrooms in the place are without a doubt the most disgusting bathrooms I have ever seen, I am including rest stops, truck stops and music festival porta-potties. To start, there is a nasty odor tat nearly knocks you out. On the floor, there is a black film. There are cobwebs. Cobwebs, people. In a bathroom. To top it all off, it's locked. They make you carry a key, which is attached to a coffe can, which you have to put down somewhere. In the disgusting bathroom. Yes, it's outside of the restaurant, but hey have a responsibility to their customers. Allowing us into this e coli pit is not only an insult, it's a...
Read moreI really like this restaurant. I go especially for the dim sum. The recipes and the quality have changed a little and the prices have gone up. So altogether, not a great combination, but times are tough, and somehow my mom and I end up here before any other dim sum restaurant.
The owner's son who sometimes works the front is extremely polite and welcoming, and there is a taller, young lady who is just AWESOME. Everything is usually fresh and hot. I never wait for water nor am I treated as rudely as other Chinese restaurants, and the tea is always fresh (not like they took an old tea pot from the adjacent table that left and just added more hot water. You KNOW that happens at some...
