At Zippy’s Makiki, the dining experience often stands out for its warm, local charm, but our recent visit was elevated to an entirely new level thanks to Chingky, an exceptional server who left an indelible impression on our group. From the moment we walked in, Chingky’s genuine smile and welcoming demeanor immediately made us feel at ease, as if we were being greeted by an old friend.
Unlike the forced pleasantries you might encounter elsewhere, Chingky’s warmth felt completely authentic. She struck the perfect balance of professionalism and kindness, engaging with us in a way that was both sweet and respectful. It was clear she cared about making our experience memorable, taking time to ensure every detail of our visit was seamless.
What truly set Chingky apart was her work ethic. She was attentive without being intrusive, anticipating our needs before we even realized them. Drinks were refilled promptly, and our food was served with efficiency that was as impressive as her kindhearted nature. Even while the restaurant buzzed with activity, she moved with a calm yet fast-paced energy, demonstrating her ability to handle pressure without losing her friendly composure.
Throughout the meal, Chingky remained engaging, exchanging light conversation and making sure we were comfortable. Her sweet personality shone through in every interaction, leaving us not only satisfied with the food but also uplifted by her incredible service. She had an uncanny ability to make each guest feel valued, which is a rare and admirable trait in the restaurant industry.
Chingky exemplifies what outstanding service should be—thoughtful, efficient, and full of heart. Zippy’s Makiki is lucky to have her, and we can’t wait to return for another visit, knowing that a smiling face and unparalleled...
Read moreOut of desperation I went to this place for some food what a huge mistake. the nicest person was a security guard which is outsourced albeit he pushed the door opener to let me in but that was the nicest person there. I just had some questions when it was my turn at the register and they looked at me like I was from another planet. I don't know if it was because it was later in the day but I just had the zippy's chili which is a safe bet. I can tell you this do not ever ever ever buy chili there at the end of the day. I bought cornbread as well which tastes like cake of course. but when I was asking questions the lady at the register was looking at the person behind me in the line and kind of smirking like clearly this guy's not a seasoned shopper at zippy's. Well I can tell you why I'm not. I purchased the 16 oz and about 40 minutes after eating it I threw up everything left in my stomach what a memorable experience. What a horrible experience. Now I remember why I never shop there either. I'm two for two of eating stuff there that I wouldn't give a dying dog. And by the way there's no reason to call corporate cuz she'll get blown off or not even reply to you their attitude is we don't care we don't have to where is zippy's!!!!! They might want to think about this the next time they make a commercial lamenting about having to lay off 200 and some employees you might want to take better care of the customers that spend their hard-earned money there and don't throw up from bad food but then again you don't have to care you're by God's zippies!!!!! You're better off going to Walmart and buying a can of soup which is what I should...
Read moreMy mum and I came here for a late lunch the day we arrived in Honolulu. Despite having a large parking lot, we had to circle a few times before we finally managed to snag a spot. Not sure if this goes for all Zippy's or not (this is the only location we visited during our stay), but this Zippy's was split with a sit-down restaurant in the back and a casual fast food area in the front. Apparently they also sell pastries from Napoleon's Bakery. We went to the front area to order from the fast food counter.
Since we were just there for a really quick bite, my mum and I split their Zip Pac ($8.95+tax). It coems with rice, some salad, a slice of spam, some chicken, a bit of beef, and a bit of fried fish along with a slice of pickled daikon and a packet of tartar sauce. Partially because we were starving (while it was before 1PM local time, it was almost 4PM LA time, which is ridiculously late for lunch considering we had breakfast around 6AM) and partially because the food is good, we immediately inhaled the entire thing. I was not a fan of chicken because I found it hard to eat and was also overcooked, but the other three items were good.
I can't speak to the restaurant, but the fast food area is definitely a good option if you want decent food really fast for a decent price. According to their website there are 25 different locations for Zippy's throughout the state, with many of them open 24 hours, so it's a very convenient place to go when other food places may be closed or...
