My host was obnoxious, never smiled once, and slap the menu on the table and walked away. No greeting 😕 or comment to say your waiter will be with you soon or anything . My waitress was too slouchy. I tried to ignore it, but she leaned her hands on the table and EVEN her elbow while taking my order in such an unprofessional and uncleaniness way. I ordered a steak medium rare with bake potato loaded, but absolutely NO sour cream. She brought me a steak, which was well done, and bake potato was not loaded but had loads of sour cream, absolutely the opposite of what i requested. I asked them to remake the order, and when she went to take it back, she actually wanted to leave the potato and wasn't going to bring a fresh one. When my new order showed up the steak was charred black on one side and was only cooked Rare inside and the potato did come loaded but still had lots of sour cream even though I repeated to her absolutely no sour cream. This was not only her fault but the Cook in the Back. And the expeditator, I chose longhorn steak house because other locations have always been good to Great with service and food, especially in Alabama, but this place was far from anything I have ever seen. I am a professional businessman who was tired and hungry. I spoke with the new assistant manager, who didn't have much to say or offer at this point but seemed to be annoyed by the bother of my experience. The demeanor was something weird as far as customer service. I could not believe my experience. I walked out without my dinner and was so disgusted I would never visit this establishment in Alabama again, and I am a regular visitor to Alabama and Longhorn for business and pleasure, this used to be my home State of residence. My visit was such a horrible experience, and I am a very professional and usually understanding to mistakes and appreciate the service industry and their workers, as I was in the industry as a manager, General manager and regional manager for 23 years and this type of service was disgraceful but not just because of the food mistakes but the treatment starting with the Host who obviously was not a good choice to have greeting your Customers as they come through the door. I found myself back home a few days later and my wife wanted to go to our local Longhorn and I told her No which she rarely asks to go out but I couldn't even find myself returning to another location because of the experience I had at this location in Alabama , which disappointed my wife but I still had a bad taste in my mouth, so to speak due to the experience I had in Alabama, which is a shame because we are frequent guests in...
Read moreI was not very happy with my visit here. First impression as soon as you walked in there was an awful smell. It smelled like mildew or like maybe someone mopped with dirty water. It was very unpleasant. This would normally turn me away but my friend who was visiting Birmingham loves Longhorn and didn't mind the smell so we went ahead and got a table. After being in the place about 5 minutes you dont notice the smell anymore. Honestly the food was not bad. I enjoyed my entree, but I gave the low score because of the service. Our waitress was absolutely terrible. At first she seemed nice. She was polite and took our drink order (which was just waters) and took our order for appetizers. The appetizers came out before our water. That's just how long it took for her to bring some. We both also ordered spicy appetizers and had nothing to drink. Eventually she brought us our waters and we were happy. She took our order and it took a really long time to get our food. The restaurant was not very busy. When we arrived everyone there had their food except for 2 other tables so I dont understand why it took so long for our food to arrive. Once the food arrived our waitress asked us if everything came out ok and asked if we needed anything. She brought us what we needed and then for the next 40 minutes we never saw our waitress again. I had finished my cup of water and no one came by the refill our glasses. It got so bad that another employee came out of the kitchen and asked if we needed anything. This made me think maybe our waitress got sick and had to leave. We told her I really need a water but I am ready for our check. The lady went back brought me water and a to go box and said your waitress will bring you the check. I was again shocked because I was thinking the waitress was no longer there. When she did come I gave her the money and she stood there for a minute looking at me. And then she said I guess I will bring you your change back. (I honestly think she thought I was going to keep the change for herself but after such horrible service I didn't want to do that.) She went back to the kitchen and eventually brought my change back rolled up in the receipt and walked away. When I unrolled the receipt I realized that she took a pen and circled many times the suggested tip amounts in blue ink. At this point I was furious. Read moreMy birthday was yesterday (09/07). I called in the morning not long after the restaurant opened to see if they would be able to accommodate a large party (20-25 people). The manager I spoke with informed me that he would be able to accommodate us all and we would be taken care of by two servers. Once we were seated we realized we were only provided one server so I spoke with him again to inquire whether or not he was providing additional servers or assistance. He informed me our server is very familiar in handling large parties and that they would assist her as well if need be. I inquired once more and informed him that my family and I always tend to have issues when there are not enough servers provided. He assured me everything would be fine so I proceeded to sit down and order along with everyone else. Our server is not fully to blame for how our experience was however, multiple things went wrong. Orders were given to the wrong individuals, no refills on drinks were provided for our duration in the restaurant, our tickets at the end were separated incorrectly and took quite a bit of time to fix/redo - all in all again, I appreciate being accommodated with seating and I do not fully blame our ONE server however, I must acknowledge that had management kept their word and provided additional servers for our party, I would’ve had a MUCH better review to leave for this establishment. I find it difficult to look past me inquiring and also informing him again that additional servers should be provided for such a large group. I spoke with the manager that evening and she too agreed with what I said, not for the sake of the “customer’s always right” but because it was an unnecessary mistake and not so great judgement call on behalf of the previous manager. The evening manager did her best to accommodate us at the ending of our meals and she offered her apologies as well. I do think my birthday experience could have gone MUCH better and I hope this establishment takes note of this situation to better handle large groups...
