I want to start off by saying this review would have been a 5 star rating had it not been for the horrible customer service experience I had. I am going to go into the issue of why and then give my thoughts on the magnificent food I had.
I ordered this food on Uber Eats and dealing with Uber can sometimes be a nightmare. My order constantly kept being pushed by an hour then another hour then another hour. Next thing I know my order is canceled. Idk if it was my mistake or Uber eats. Either way I was charged $83.00 because Uber claimed the food was already made. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager to find out if I could just come get the food. I found out the order that was put in was for the Hwy 280 location which me being in Pinson not sure why that location would even pop up. The manager informed me that they aren't on Uber eats only that location is but I could just come to the Trussville location and pick it up.
When I arrived at the restaurant my order was ready and I was blindsided by being told I had to pay for the food again that I've already been charged for (another $81.14). I was flabbergasted but paid anyway because I just wanted the nightmare to be over. I had just got out the gym and me and my friends were hungry! I was then told Uber would refund me my money and if they didn't then the restaurant themselves would refund me. I called Uber and guess what they refused to refund me even after I told them what happened and the fact I was still at the restaurant standing outside. I called Uber multiple times even requesting to speak to a manager who never called me back. I then contacted the restaurant again and the guy told me he would handle it and called Uber Eats and said give him a few days once again if they don't refund me then he would. Monday after work (All this happened Friday March 15th) I contacted the restaurant manager again he said he had handled it and even sent me a forwarded email showing where Uber Eats was supposed to refund me. I called Uber and guess what refund still denied. I was at a doctor's appointment so I couldn't call the restaurant back at the time.
Later I sent the restaurant manager a text telling him Uber still won't refund me and I hoped he would keep his word and just refund me my money. He has not refunded to me since. So now they have gotten paid by me twice for food I only received once and I am out $164.14! I will never ever support this place again they have seemed to refuse to honor their word.
Now as for the review itself. The food was absolutely fantastic. I ordered a meatlovers, Pepperoni, and Margarita pizza with one slice of their 3 layered chocolate cake. I have literally no complaints everything was so fresh and very top tear high quality food. This pizza would have definitely been in my top ten favorites if it wasn't for the issue I had above. This pizza can definitely compete with any of the top pizza joins we have in the state of Alabama and I give it a sold 9.2/10
The chocolate cake was okay I wasn't the biggest fan and wasn't expecting what I received where there was very little cake and most of it was like mouse and whipped cream. Not for me but to a sweets and chocolate lover it is definitely for you. I won't rate it because it won't be fair.
All in all I was ready to heavily support this place but after all I've been put through they will never have my money again.
UPDATE: I have been asked by many people for an update on this place. It has been 3 months and still nobody has gotten back to me about my refund. The owners clearly don't care about the what is now stolen money. Will never ever be back...
Read moreSaw this place advertised in a smaller local paper. As a wood-fired pizza (anything really) kind of person, I had to give it a try.
Showed up after a primary lunch rush to a nicely kept place with bench/table type seating (think park picnic tables). Though it was mostly empty when here, they give a vibe of community to share tables/meals.
The gentleman who greeted us at the door had a great personality, knew his menu well, and had us taken care of promptly. He made specific mention of their "spice bar," and I'm glad he did.
The pizza and salad came out in one size (large-ish only) and one price (kind of steep), but there was plenty enough salad to share with others and enough pizza to box for another meal. (The pizza is a pepperoni pizza, and for reference, that is a large paper towel roll in the background for size reference.)
The spice bar had staples such as salt/pepper, red pepper flakes, etc, but also had a spicy oil, which was a nice drizzle on the crust along with their marinara. The marinara was delicious, and for someone like me, who prefers extra versus their lesser, provided marinara the ability to get the desired taste without asking nor being charged for extra.
Overall, it is a great place to gather, and I'm glad they were featured in the article. The imported ovens and ingredients cost the consumer extra but definitely worth the cost.
I WILL be back.
26AUG23: Not quite as warm a welcome as the first time but food was definitely the same high quality and delicious as before. It was so fast that I only had time to visit the spice bar and wash my hands before the pizza arrived at the table. Again, I...
Read moreWe heard of this place thru word of mouth and decided to have lunch. It was a sunny, fall like day with a light breeze. I liked the concept as soon as I walked in. The business plan shines thru and is truly evident in almost every facet. The menu is small. To me, this means they are focused on what they do best. The staple, Caputo 00 wheat flour is stacked in the dining area as if to say "we are doing this right" and trust me, they are. Theres water, soft, drinks, beer and wine available from self serve coolers. Theres Gelato and other Italian desserts too!
Orders are placed at the counter and the food is prepared in the kitchen which is entirely open. Two huge wood fired ovens dominate the space and are named after the Italian cities of Rome and Napoli. After you order go ahead and make a stop at the "fixings" table. Here you can get all the seasonings you need for your pie. Red Sauce, crushed pepper, grated parmesan cheese, spicy olive oil and more.
Service is friendly and prompt. We ordered two personal pies and a side salad. The side salad was delicious with fresh greens and is big enough for two. By the time we finished the salad, boom, our pies were ready. I'd estimate they are running the ovens at 750 deg F or slightly higher. We asked for extra crispy and they were prepared accordingly. The crust is light and airy with just the right amount of chew. The marinara is light, zingy and says San Marzano to me. Everything we had was fresh, and made with high quality ingredients.
Give this place a visit you wont be disappointed. We will definitely be going back in the near future.
