We came on a Monday night a full half hour before their posted closing time, to get a tasty treat to end our day. We were excited to check this place out given plentiful high marks in the reviews.
But our experience was anything but stellar.
It was clear the employee working had no interest in serving us and simply wanted to focus on closing the store. She acted put out when my daughter and wife each asked for one sample before deciding on their ice creams. She reminded us that they were closing soon, even though we were still at that point a full 25 mins away from the posted closing time.
I tried to engage her in light pleasantries as I perused the options before placing my order, but she pretty much ignored me. I therefore just picked what I thought would be a safe flavor rather than further putting her out asking for a sample. That was a mistake. I got the 5 cookie cookie dough ice cream (I generally have loved any cookies and cream or cookie dough ice cream I’ve ever tried). I paid way too much for our three ice creams, and we left.
My ice cream was disgusting. It tasted very artificial. I let my wife and daughter try it and they agreed. I wanted to go back and ask for my money back. I should have. But I didn’t feel like dealing with the employee’s bad attitude. So I just threw it away. My wife had gotten a bourbon butter pecan that she thought she liked in sampling but quickly realized hers was also not to her liking and threw out half of hers. Only our daughter enjoyed her ice cream.
Between the poor attitude of the employee rushing us in our selection and the abysmal flavor of the ice cream two of the three of us tried, I can’t agree with the enthusiastic positive ratings I have seen here.
Bottom notch. A wonderful way to sour an otherwise...
Read moreOn 5/18/2024, My Wife and I decided to go get ice cream, after reviewing post on Facebook and reading reviews, Mamoo's Creamery seemed to be the best place to go. At 7:16 PM My wife and I entered the building and no one spoke, the lady behind the counter looked right at us, and kept talking to the Caucasian couple in front of us, we kept looking at the menu to decide what we were going to get. At 7:17PM a group of Caucasian's enter the building and all employees spoke loud and clear. I turned around and looked at my wife and told her that I would like to leave, We walked in the building with a smile, 1 minute later we walked out with no smile. Today is Monday 5/20/2024 and I'm still trying to figure out why. I'm not sure if it was because we are African American, and the reason I am saying that is because everyone that was Caucasian was getting treated with RESPECT. I also had to pay for parking. We visited 20 places over the weekend, and everyone treated us with RESPECT except this place, We ended up walking across the street to get ice cream from another place.
TO OWNERS please view cameras, My wife and I walked out in 1 minute, if a description is needed, I would love to give you one.!
GOD BLESS!
Update: it was a male in the back making something and two females in the front, we had to walk down steps to get to the ice cream shop, the brown wood door was the right to enter. Two or three tables on the outside of the door. The fact that you are saying it was no woman workers in the building is pathetic. Again God bless. Correction...
Read moreMamoo’s Creamery is serving up some seriously delicious ice cream for the people of Hot Springs! It was so good, I had to go back and take a photo with the owner.
The owner and his partner make all the ice cream themselves, it’s the real deal. I had a scoop of the strawberry on a waffle cone (also made on site), and couldn’t hold a conversation until I was done inhaling the entire scoop. It was so delicious, with a great rich texture and amazing flavor. My friend had vanilla and said the same. Mamoo is changing the ice cream game for this town!
They’ve got roughly 18(?) flavors to choose from, and really you can’t go wrong. The owner is so nice, and happy to help you narrow down choices so that you get the perfect scoop.
The shop is located slightly below street level. It’s a little hard to find because you have to go through a small lobby first, then another set of doors to the right. But trust me, it’s well worth the search. Definitely the best ice...
