B&B Bar — Restaurant in Houghton

Alright, so I happened to stop in after years of waffling. It's a good atmospheric situation - pool table, excellent lighting and general environment you'd hope for in a bar. They only take cash, so just a heads up, but there's an atm so nbd.

The bartender was the coolest woman. God, man, she really just understood life and showed me real kindness. It's not something that is easily taught or learned - it comes from a tremendous depth of soul.

I'm not sure what to do beyond saying that, but I do know she has a few years left in her career, and you need to visit her and the BnB independently.

B & B Bar — where the drinks are cold, but the welcome is colder

Walked into B & B Bar in Houghton and immediately got the “you don’t belong here” stare from the entire room — honestly thought I walked into a movie scene where the strangers are about to get run out of town. We sat down, my boyfriend went to the bar to order drinks, and the bartender must have been deeply invested in her conversation with her friends because she acted like we were invisible. Eventually, she took our order like it was the biggest inconvenience of her day. We still tipped her $5 (because apparently, we’re nicer than she is), and she didn’t even say thank you. The B&B is a fantastic small local bar. The drinks are strong and reasonably priced. I've never had a negative interaction with a staff member. Everyone has always been friendly. The bar is cash only so get some beforehand or you can use their on-site ATM. There's not much in the way of food. Picked eggs or occasionally some cheap pizza (free popcorn!) but food isnt the real reason to come in. They're open nearly every day of the year (holidays too) though hours can vary. Cozy and relaxed atmosphere, rarely raucous. Awesome bar....
