Houstonâs craft beer scene continues to move onward and upward, with more breweries added throughout the year, many of them serving beers of great distinction. One brewery opened only a couple of years ago that has made a name for itself is True Anomaly Brewing.
This craft brewery is located close to BBVA Compass stadium, home to the Houston Dynamo MLS Team, and itâs close to downtown. This makes it easy to find and because it is so close to so much action, it is within walking distance of many other places of eating, drinking, and entertainment.
Walk inside the True Anomaly taproom and you will see that itâs small to medium in size. For seating, there are high top tables with stools, low tables and chairs, and even a couch and upholstered chairs, for more home- like comfort. There is an astronomical theme, but it is low key and you may not even notice it. If you want something to eat with your beer, look for a food truck. There is usually one present.
For the beer, True Anomaly Brewing usually has about ten to twelve different beers on tap with a wide selection that isnât dominated by any one style. I recommend getting a flight or two, which consists of three servings, to discover which ones you like best. If youâre like me, you will probably find every beer high in quality and delicious. They know their craft at True Anomaly Brewing, and this is reason enough to visit.
Parking can be an issue at this brewery. There is a small parking lot directly next to the building and another parking lot next door, but the parking isnât free. If you want to avoid paying for parking, you will need to find a place on the street and walk over.
Whatever you decide to do, you wonât be disappointed. The beer at True Anomaly is tasty, the staff is helpful, and the atmosphere is unassuming, non- pretentious, and welcoming to all, the way a brewery should be. Itâs a place you are bound to enjoy if you are a fan of finely...
Read moreI walked in and thought - hey this is a nice small little brewery. The bartenders were nice enough. Ambiance was cool, there were games to play and an interesting view. Plus it's on an active street. Parking is minimal except for the pay lot right next to the building. I ordered a beer and found that it didn't quite match my palate. I returned and asked for a taste of a different beer. I'm new to Texas, but have been to breweries all over the country. Every brewery I've ever been to is happy to provide a taste of their beer. It was a true anomaly to find that this brewery does not provide a taste. They want you to pay $2 for a taster. I found that odd. I read some other reviews of this place and found that many others didnt find their beer to be good. I am wondering if, in the past, people have tasted every beer, didn't like any of them, and left? And so the brewery got tired of people taking 10 free tasters of beer and leaving? I'm not sure what the reason would be other than that? There wasnt a line behind me when I asked for one. Plus I had already ordered a drink prior. There is such a thing as brewery culture. Anyways, I decided I'd take my loss from the first...
Read moreHeard many good things about this brewery so decided to come check it out for myself, early one Tuesday afternoon. They open at 2 and I must have gotten there around 2:30. I prefer IPA of which they have four different varieties, I asked the bartender about some samples of two so I could try them before committing to a point. They are first tried to talk me into a 15$ flight, which I wasn't interested in. Thereafter, upon pouring me the two samples preceded to tell me that "normally" they don't offer that, and certainly not if they're busy. There were literally two other people there besides me. Pints are 7$, so forgive me if I'm curious to try a few samples before I committ to a full glass. Not only that, but the pint I did order was very mediocre, I don't know what's going on with people in customer service these days, but it's a simple thing to do, and really helps me to choose what I do like. Long story short, not so great beer, not so great customer service, probably not going to come back. Very...
