I have been going to Rodeo Goat for close to a year and it’s been my go-to for amazing burgers! Today, a co-worker mentioned she had never heard of it, so normally I raved!!
We sat at the bar and were quickly approached by a bartender asking us what we wanted to drink. Because my co-worker had never been (and we just sat down) i asked for a few minutes. I noticed there was food leftover on the bottom of the menu, so I asked the bartender to please wipe it. She handed me a new menu and we (my co-worker) proceeded to look over it. We waited for the bartender to come back, but she never did. We ended up ordering with another bartender.
About 5-7 minutes later, a manager approached us from behind the bar asking us “if everything was okay between us and the bartenders” we looked at each other, then started asking yes and why? She went on to say “I want to make sure my bartenders are comfortable, if you’re going to make my bartenders uncomfortable, then you can leave” i asked “what could possibly be wrong? We just got here and placed our food order.” She then went on to say she’s not going to allow her bartenders to work in an uncomfortable environment. I looked around because at this point she was solely addressing me, I asked why she was addressing me. And why would it be escalated to us being asked to leave. She continues to misdirect the actual reason why we were being approached.
We ate our food and left. Unfortunately, I have decided not to continue giving my business to an establishment that addresses any concerns with guests by asking them to leave without ensuring the guests are ALSO comfortable and considered. I work in the industry, and have for more than a decade, i have never in my life been asked to leave any establishment. I was caught off guard by the micro-aggression because I’ve been coming here for...
Read moreI’m really heartbroken to report on my experience at Rodeo Goat. I’ve had this one on my to do list for a while, but the only time I’m normally in this area is for a concert or sporting event. So, by the time we deal with traffic to get out of the event, they are normally closed. As luck would have it, I was able to make it for a late lunch today.
First and foremost my service today was incredibly slow. Everything took some time to get to the table, and we were not checked in on regularly. I never had my drink refilled. We did order desert, which again took some time to come out. Then we waited and waited for the check. I finally flagged down a random waitress that was walking by our table and she was able to get us taken care of.
The food itself wasn’t bad, but nothing I would come all the way downtown for (and pay for parking). The burgers are small for the price. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful on the positive side. But at the same time there were flavors that didn’t come through. My son orders the Nashville hot chicken sandwich (The Firebird) and I was concerned about the spice level. But there actually didn’t seem to be any heat at all. The jalapeño bacon on my burger didn’t even have a hint of jalapeño.
Small inconvenience- our dessert had ice cream and the severer mentioned that they didn’t have any spoons. He offered us plastic spoons or asked if we wanted to use forks. I’m not sure if they don’t use spoons, or if they didn’t have any clean.
If I have a chance to come back I may give them another shot. I don’t think we had the best server. I overheard a different table being asked if how they wanted their burgers prepared. Our server didn’t ask me, which makes me wonder if there were some...
Read moreI’ve been to Rodeo Goat many times before. Food and service from the staff is always good, but this review is solely about their parking and valet services surrounding the restaurant.
I tried to dine in for a late lunch/early dinner yesterday (Sunday evening). I found some street parking right by the entrance, and a guy from the valet company (who was super rude) told me I couldn’t park there because it was valet only. I argued with him that it’s City of Houston street parking and they can’t takeover public parking that’s owned by the city on the street. He said again “valet only” or he’ll have me towed. Fine, so I moved and left. As I circled the block to try and find different parking, another valet guy on the OTHER side of the restaurant (don’t know if they work for the same company or not) would not move from the middle of the road and kept waving his hand and tried to force me into valet parking. I kept trying to drive around and he was purposely trying to get ran over and would NOT let me leave! I honked and had to get a bit aggressive just so I can leave!
This definitely left a bad impression and sour taste in my mouth, and because of that I don’t think I will be dining here again. I ended up eating dinner at The Burger Joint instead, where there are no stupid Valet Companies trying to act predatory and shady on customers. The restaurant could definitely do something about it but seems like they don’t care. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get a cut of their profits. Probably will not be returning unless there is absolutely nothing going on and there are no valet companies...
