My wife and I chose The District for a Houston Restaurant Weeks meal on a Saturday night. In a nutshell, most of the food was good, but the service and atmosphere were poor.

I'll start with the good. Our entrees (filet and short ribs) were good. The steak was a bit overcooked but nothing outrageous. The sides were good, but nothing special. Our appetizers (deviled eggs and grilled oysters were also good, although I wish I had ordered the raw oysters. The creme brulee was very good. That is it for the good.

The only really bad food we had was the tree leches. It had a strange flavor and texture. We think it had been in the fridge for quite a while. Each of us took one bite and put it aside.

As for the service, it started poorly and never improved. There was no host or greeter. We went to the bar to ask to be seated. The guys there didn't seem too interested but told us to take any table. There were lots of them. My wife ordered a straight up martini. It took far too long to arrive based on the light crowd and when it arrived our waitress called it a dirty martini. When we asked her to take it back she assured us it was straight up. That's what she told the bartender, and she a!ways calls them dirty martinis. But it was cloudy with a strong taste of olive juice. There was no doubt it was a dirty martini.

Our food was a bit slow to arrive, but it wasn't a problem until our waitress blamed us for the delay. She said that since we didn't order all three courses at once she had to do something unusual when entering the meal into the computer. It was a flimsy excuse to a minor problem that put the blame on us.

As for the atmosphere, the place was dead on a Saturday night. We chose to sit outside. They had misting fans running but it was a cool night, and they just made things damp. Our table was fine for awhile, but eventually it began to get wet. our waitress turned them off at our request but seemed annoyed by it.

To sum up, we won't return. The bad service and dead atmosphere more than outweighed...

I just left this restaurant. i was with two other people and we ordered at about 1210. The waitress came back at about 1230 and apologized about how busy they were and that a server just quit this morning. Understandable. At 1245 we start getting antsy as we only have an hour to eat for lunch. at 1250 I was up to the manager because i cant find our waiter and ask if they can just box up our food because we have no more time to wait. at 1 my coworker walks up and asks where are food is and is pretty upset as all of us are. The manager looks like he could care less. at 110. The waitress walks up with our food in bags and i ask for a discount and she says she will talk to the manager. i watch her walk over open and shut the bills and walk back to us and hand us our receipts not even asking the manager for a discount. I guess the manager already discounted us. 3 dollars for all of this. I will never eat here again. Its directly across the street from my job and i actually liked this place but with the bad management never again.

In response to the below, whoever at your restaurant told you that we needed to order sooner is an outright liar. We only had an hour for lunch so we ordered within 10 mins of sitting down. To your point of the food taking 20 mins. Another lie. The food took 1hour. Now that i know you are in the business of lying on reviews i def will not be returning and will be telling all of my coworkers the same. And i have plenty of money to pay my meals when i go out to eat. Any good restaurant with the amount of time we were waiting for our meal would have comped the meal. But i guess i cannot expect that from a...

I returned to this establishment on Saturday 09/29/2018 for brunch, place was empty, we decided to seat on the patio, the waiter came and took our orders which took forever to be served (more than 40 minutes for an empty place) when the food finally came out it was cold, like for real, cold, the waiter offer to take it back so they could heat it up, I mean really? what are they going to do? put it in the microwave? F NO, this place really has a bad service, ate my food cold just as my other friends, we live across the street, not coming back, this establishment has no respect for their customers.

I went to this establishment on Saturday for lunch. I had the veggie tacos, they are usually accompanied by pico de gallo, sadly the pico was going bad and I ask the waiter if I could get some fresh pico, he later returned with the same pico, it looked like the cook just threw a few pieces of onion on top of it, the pico was the same. This is completely unacceptable, train your people to have respect for your customers, I left the pico untouched, I returned it because it was going bad, not just because, I don't want to get food poisoning or anything similar, please have respect for your customers. I don't even know why I am...

Had an amazing experience tonight at The District. Food was great and service was above and beyond. Waiter was knowledgeable and made great recommendations on the menu. My drink was always full and he was around anytime I needed anything. The manager came out and talked to me about a request I had made and while he couldn't fulfill my request he was super welcoming and explained his side. Will definitely be back to try some of the recommendations my waiter made!

Nice deli and market place. There is a restaurant attached to it but there is a nice casual dining area in the deli area. Good meals and very reasonable prices with big portions! Brussel sprouts and hand made chips with the half rotisserie chicken was delicious! Nice little market with a range of different goods from food, sauces, oils and even bath and soap items.

Obnoxiously overpriced cocktails, don't order a martini. $12 for 1.25 ounce cocktail. Any other mixed drink is $12 despite the posted price for liquor. Oysters were average, but for less than a dollar per oyster it's hard to expect anything more. Outside seating was pleasant on a Sunday because noone was here. Not worth it
