Oh my...I’ve been a loyal Oh My Gogi fan for years! Back in the Rice Village days, we’d wait in line for an hour just to get our hands on those legendary fries. We even used to drive past other cars on the street, late night, flashing the iconic blue-and-white checkered paper, honking in solidarity — we were a true cult following. Those were the days. I’m still a die-hard fan, but I do think every menu item should live up to the same standard as their staples. The fries? Excellent. Burgers? Excellent. Quesadillas? Excellent. Dumplings? Very good. But the newer additions, like the chicken wings, just aren’t on the same level. They’re okay, and if you’re craving wings and OMG Fries at the same time, they might work, but they didn’t wow me. I also remember the tacos to be much better than they are now. I haven't had the tacos in years but I recently got the beef tacos with flour tortillas, which cost $2 extra for the tortilla. For that price, I expected authentic, flavorful, homemade-style tortillas. Instead, they were cheap-tasting, heavily flour flavored, cold, and honestly disappointing. For what they charge ($1 for each tortilla), they could easily source fresh, high-quality tortillas (even H-E-B’s bakery would be a huge improvement). In the end, I wound up tossing the wings and tacos. My advice? Stick to the tried-and-true classics — the OMG Fries, burgers, and quesadillas. However, the rice boxes were a nice addition...it's like the fries but with rice instead. Those are the dishes that built the cult following in the first place, and they’re still...
Read moreI have been eating Oh My Gogi since somewhere around 2010 and it never lets me down. My friends and I decided to get some Gogi and since it was pretty nippy out we decided to try the restaurant. It's got quite the cozy vibe and some nice wall art. I saw a map of Astro World back in 1986! There is a little claw game and a TV streaming whatever is playing.
Now, let us get to what you're here for.
About 99% of the time I get the OMG Fries with double beef, a fried egg, and an order of dumplings. I love these two options more than anything else on the menu!
The dumplings are standard affair compared to the food truck and are just as juicy and delicious. The sauce has a mellow taste but packs the right amount of punch.
The Fries on the other hand? The fries were crispy, the meat was plenty and flavorful, and the egg was seared perfectly and the yolk was nice and runny. However, there was something off about one singular component of the dish.
The sauce... Specifically the mayo.
There was something just a bit different compared to the food truck. Now, I am not saying it is bad! It is just a bit different. I hope they can get the formular to match the truck better but nonetheless; it was a great experience and I...
Read moreI came in and the vibe was definitely cool. I ordered oh my gogi fries and was prompted with a tip at the end ? I thought that was strange because it’s not table side service. My food came out in literally 20 seconds. I took a bite into my fries and they were cold and kinda soggy. For 15$ i expected hot crunchy fries. I definitely personally won’t come back here. I ate half of them and scaddled. I was expecting everything to be made fresh to order especially considering how slow it was. I knew the food would be cold because of how quickly it came out. They could have put the fries in the grease for 30 seconds at least. But that’s what happens when u...
