We have a group of 5-8 people who come regularly to this particular Pappadeaux for birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions, usually 6-8 times a year.
That is, until today. After today, we doubt if we will spend any more money at this location, or any other Pappas enterprise as well.
We made a reservation for 8 people for today at 2 PM. My wife and I were the first ones to arrive at about 1:30 PM. We checked in and gave the reservation info. At which time they told us, they could not seat us until at least half our party arrived. This was even after we explained that my wife is a heart patient and is classified disabled due to her left knee being completely blown.
This is NOT the first time this has happened. The last two times aside from today, this has also happened. This time, the hostess on duty indicated that she should go hobble over to their waiting area for us to wait for more people from our party to arrive. At this point we asked for the manager on duty, since the hostess would not even bring over a chair for my wife to sit on.
At first, the hostess refused, and kept saying this was company policy. I told her we could easily spend our money next door at Taste of Texas or go elsewhere, such as Longhorn Steakhouse, but this was where our birthday celebrant wanted to eat, who is my wife's employer, who we were treating her to a nice meal.
Finally got the manager on duty to come over, and he pulled the company policy line again. I let my wife speak to him, since I was already starting to warm up a bit. So he agreed to set up our table...in the back 40 by the server station. And that's when the issues began.
We got greeted by our server Frank, and we told him we were waiting for the rest of the crew. No problem. After 5 of us were seated, we received a text that the other 3 couldn't make it. So we start by ordering Margaritas, 4 frozen and 1 on the rocks for me. That's 5 total drinks. I don't know if they had to make the tequila in back or what, but it took 25 minutes to get our drinks.
That's issue number 1. So he leaves us to the menus and drinks and we are looking over and finally we decided on the appetizers we all wanted... and waited and waited again for the appetizers to come out. By now this is starting to get old.
And all this time, our server was nowhere to be found. So we finally get our appetizers after about another 20 minute wait. And one of the ones we always order, the crab and spinach dip was watery. When we finally saw our server again, we explained the problem and he sent the manager over. We finally got everything settled, or so we thought, but no one came by to get our main food order. But they made sure we had bread to fill us up.
Finally, we were all so full, and so tired from waiting that we finally just called a halt to anything else, and prepared to leave. But I did order the Pasta Mardi Gras to go, and that came out faster than anything else did. With one lousy slice of garlic bread
Total bill, with tip, came to $420. For appetizers and drinks and one main course.
I honestly feel that the manager told the server to give us terrible service so that we would not come back again. Well, this place has gotten their wish, at least as far as I am concerned. Pappas restaurants will not see me again.
The only other time I have gotten this poor of a service was at Olive Garden several years ago, and we don't patronize them any more either. There are much better restaurants to spend...

As a travel blogger, I'm always on the lookout for exciting new destinations and restaurants to share with my audience. While browsing through Google Maps, I stumbled upon Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen and was impressed by the overwhelmingly positive reviews from satisfied customers. Although I haven't physically visited the restaurant, I'd like to offer some suggestions as a well-wisher to help enhance their online presence.
Firstly, I recommend pinning your menu to the gallery or posting it on the timeline. This will make it easily accessible to customers and provide a clear idea of what you offer. Additionally, consider posting short videos showcasing your kitchen, such as a "dish of the day" feature or a sneak peek into food preparation. A short video highlighting the steps involved in preparing a signature dish would be engaging and informative, without revealing your secret recipes.

To further enhance your Google Business Profile, consider the following suggestions:
Post updates about upcoming events, promotions, and limited-time offers to keep customers informed and engaged. Utilize the "Q&A" feature to answer frequently asked questions and provide additional information to customers. Add high-quality photos of your dishes, restaurant interior, and exterior to showcase your brand and ambiance. Encourage customers to share their photos and experiences with your restaurant by offering incentives, such as discounts or freebies. Monitor your online presence regularly and respond promptly to any negative feedback or concerns.

Read moreIn conducting a critical evaluation of Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, I recently visited their highly acclaimed Houston location. My initial experience was favorable, thanks to an impeccably balanced cocktail known as the Swamp Thing. Regretfully, the subsequent culinary offerings did not maintain this high standard. The Seafood Gumbo appetizer was lackluster—served tepid rather than freshly heated, paired with shrimp that was noticeably overcooked and left an unpleasant aftertaste.
Contrastingly, my dining companion's Fried Alligator was reported to have been skillfully prepared and served fresh. Another member of our party opted for the Seafood Sausage Gumbo and Chicken Tenderloins accompanied by Red Beans and Rice. Upon sampling the gumbo myself, I found it remarkably uninspired, with a discernible absence of seasoning that contributed to its watery flavor profile; the larger-than-usual chunks of vegetables and an absence of bay leaves further detracted from the authenticity of the dish.
As for my entrée, the Cajun Chicken Tenderloins were requested alongside Red Beans and Rice. However, the service fell short with the delivery of an incorrect side—fries instead of the ordered beans and rice. Similar issues were faced by my companion, whose explicit request for crawfish was overlooked in favor of shrimp, despite affirmations to the contrary—curiously linked by the waitress to an anecdote about her still-living mother in Oklahoma.
It became apparent that the management was conscious of these defects, as suggested by the comping of certain items from our meal. Perhaps this was an acknowledgement of the subpar quality of the food and service errors, which was further compensated by the provision of a complimentary dessert.
In reflection, I must assign this establishment a modest rating of three stars. The reputed 4.6-star status seems inflated when considering the decline in culinary quality I observed, possibly attributable to economic pressures leading to cost-cutting measures in ingredient selection. This experience suggests that Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen's standards have unfortunately...
