Swallow's Nest — Restaurant in Houston

The concept is great, because it allows you to sit and pay as one group while ordering from any one of Finn Hall’s ten kitchens. Two complaints, which if addressed would raise my review:

1. The staff use iPads for taking orders, which would be nice if they didn’t freeze and significantly slow down the dining experience.
2. All drinks come with a plastic straw, even if not requested. Such a trendy new restaurant should aim to be more conscientious, and forcing straws on everyone is environmentally unsustainable and out of step with comparable food halls in other cities. This bar sits across from my job (Carol Kay’s open M-Sat 8a-2p) and I always watch the regulars and even tourist come by and have an amazing time. It reminds me of Alley Kat’s that used to be in midtown the way they have themed drinks and events, but what was so amazing is everyday you can see the owner there who is grinding to make sure the bar atmosphere is amazing as well as the drinks. We went for Halloween and wow the drinks were 10 out 10 presentation and flavor wise , our favorite was the zombie served in a black flask with dry ice and had passion fruit in it , delicious. The bar was not crowded which we loved, we were able to go to the bar and order without wait. The Halloween menu was phenomenal.
