So, my rating is based ONLY on the food.. it was GREAT ! Spicy, fresh, HOT from the kitchen. Service was friendly and mostly helpful. We could have used a bit more assistance and direction with an unfamiliar menu. Combination Fried Rice was among the top 3 I've ever had. Sichuan Jumbo Shrimp was beyond amazingly delicious Pork with Garlic Sauce was wonderful Chili Oil dumpling was fantastic! Spring Rolls were NOT what we expected, they were Egg Rolls and blah! Problems: Menu: it's a printed flyer/mailer and since some of these things are new and different to me I could have used some pictures to help decide. The various ( 4+) internet sites I checked have tons of pictures that look GREAT but the posters don't tell you what food item it is and don't label anything so when you get there, you have no idea what you've found that looks good. Instagram is the most helpful for pictures and labels of what you're looking at. Chopsticks: they are awful... like, really BAD - they are that hard slick plastic and you can't pick up anything slippery or wet with them.. and EVERYTHING is slippery and wet. I'm pretty good with chopsticks but they proved to be useless to me. I was trying to stab things just to try to eat it. We asked for a fork and that wasn't much better - their utensils are the cheapest and most poorly designed that you might ever find in a restaurant. All this made eating very frustrating. I suggest they find different chopsticks and invest in some quality stainless flatware.. soon. There are no drinks listed on any menu anywhere - at all.. we drank room temp water from tiny glasses because we had no idea what they had and nobody ever mentioned anything to drink. Or ice. All in all, the food was great but the overall experience was lacking and actually frustrating. They can easily fix these things - and again.. the food is EXCELLENT !! I suggest you go there to eat but save pictures from a little online research and show the server what you want to eat.. Go - FOR SURE - and maybe take a...
Read moreSecond review: I ordered for the second time, today, on Thanksgiving. Food was great and the delivery was quick! Our usual Chinese restaurant was closed and I decided to give them another chance. (I was not happy with my previous order.) I’m glad I have them a second chance - we loved it. I’m adjusting the stars from 2 to 5. Thank you!
First review: I’m extremely surprised of all the 4-5 star reviews. Today was my first time ordering here. I ordered the Dan Dan noodles, cheese puffs and pork eggrolls. Kudos to how quickly they prepared my order. (The driver took forever to get here but that’s not the restaurant’s problem.) Eggrolls and cheese puffs were decent. Not the best I’ve had from the area but I liked them.
My big problem was the Dan Dan noodles. Before writing this review I googled about the tingling and numbing of my tongue and lips. Looks like it is normal due to the Sichuan peppercorns. I’ve had Dan Dan noodles in the past from another restaurant and I do not remember the spice being this overwhelming, but I’m letting that slide since apparently I was not well-educated about this spice prior to ordering. I would suggest using less though because although I’m not knowledgeable about the cuisine, it was very overpowering. There should be a balance and this is not. However, biggest issue is how salty it is! Salt or MSG, it is too much. I can’t finish. It might look good in the picture, but I just can’t do it. I feel bad since I’m not necessarily picky and will eat stuff even if it’s not so great, but I’m going to have to toss it.
Oh well. I usually like to give restaurants second chances but I feel scared of the thought of trying the food again. There’s better food in the area so I will more than likely...
Read moreI just checked out this restaurant for dinner earlier today, and I'm so glad I didn't pass on trying this place out. I was a little nervous to try a new place, but this place did not disappoint! I noticed that there is a yelp check-in offer for Wula, so I definitely utilized it to get a free appetizer with the purchase of 2 entrees. I went at about 7:45pm with my boyfriend. There were a few other parties in the restaurant, but we were nonetheless seated really quickly. We were given a pitcher of water, and given some time to look over the menu.
We decided on the dan dan noodles for our appetizer, the chicken cubes, and the vegan mapo tofu (you can get it with meat, if you prefer.) Everything was so good, and spicy! So if you can't handle spicy foods, make sure to let the waitstaff know. Anyway, I LOVE spicy food so I loved all of the food. The chicken was fried and spicy, and I appreciated the fact that it wasn't oily. The mapo tofu wasn't as spicy as the chicken, but it still had a nice kick, and since it is a saucy dish, went perfectly with the white rice. As for the dan dan noodles, these were so delicious; the noodles had the perfect texture and the oil was nice and spicy. I don't know if there is a limit on the amount of rice you get, but we were offered extra bowls of rice at no extra cost. Service was also really great; the waitresses always checked on us, and made sure to redeem our...
