First of all this place is just wonderful especially awesome staff like Alli and Gailen! But as great as it is, it was even better with the salad bar, which got me thinking Covid killed the salad bar sounds a lot like video killed the radio star so here’s the song rewritten in true form:
COVID Killed the Salad Bar
(To the tune of “Video Killed the Radio Star” by The Buggles)
[Verse 1] I heard you once were fresh and grand, Iceberg and croutons in my hand, With sneeze guards high, but no one cared, A hundred hands had lingered there.
[Pre-Chorus] We met there after school one day, Bacon bits and ranch buffet, But then the world just slipped away—
[Chorus] COVID killed the salad bar, COVID killed the salad bar, Germs from Wuhan, they traveled far, Now Caesar’s wrapped up in my car.
[Verse 2] Remember Jason’s, Sizzler too, They made a mountain out of bleu, Tongs shared by every passing hand, A super-spreader wonderland.
[Pre-Chorus] The sneeze guard’s there but what’s the point? It’s gloves and masks now at the joint, I miss that ranch-soaked anarchy—
[Chorus] COVID killed the salad bar, COVID killed the salad bar, Once was a staple near and far, Now it’s just wrapped greens from a jar.
[Bridge] Goodbye to Sweet Tomatoes’ dreams, No endless pasta loaded with steamed greens, The Golden Corral’s a ghostly scene, You’re pre-packed now, sterile and clean.
[Verse 3 - Historical Throwback] Romans dined on greens with pride, Medieval feasts had lettuce wide, But 2020 closed the gate, Now we just DoorDash what we ate.
[Chorus - Big Finale] COVID killed the salad bar, COVID killed the salad bar, No more sneeze guards, no more trays, We mourn the bowls of yesterdays.
COVID killed the salad bar, COVID killed the salad bar, I blame the bat, I blame the jar, I blame the virus from afar…
[Outro - Repeat and Fade] COVID killed the salad bar… COVID killed the salad...
Read moreStopped by for an early dinner on the way home. I wanted chicken wings. Thought about pizza but decided on chicken wings , stuffed mushrooms , and a yummy cranberry salad when I got there. This venue is in the town that started the gold rush. It has a lot of history and old dwellings. This location is one of my favorites. It has a rustic charm to it that invokes nostalgia, history and a show of old purpose. The food is delicious and pizza is its forte. Their pizzas is the best pizza ever ! I’ve traveled and had pizza all over this country. But now, when I think of pizza , I think of Beau Jo’s bc Beau Jo’s have perfected the art of pizza making and its recipe across the board. All I have to say about their food , is no matter what you get, it’s gonna be delicious and you’ll be happy with everything you choose. The portion of our salad was perfect for 2 also. You can get the wings dry rubbed or with sauces. I ordered the dry rub and it was perfectly cooked. The stuffed mushrooms were served hot and delicious. Our server was sweet, quick , considerate and honest. Never had slow or bad service there. We were seated right away. No waiting. The dining areas are spacious with plenty of seating. No booths just tables and there’s a bar. It’s a place you can take family , colleagues and have meetings at. The atmosphere is casual, friendly and inviting for all ages. You’ll see lots of nostalgic pictures from the past and old art that were once used long ago. An old mining shaft is on display too. The bathrooms are located on the ground level by the stairs and the rest are upstairs. There is also outside dining if you prefer. There are 2 entrances. The front and the back. Depending on your time of arrival , you will have to pay for parking either in the lot facing the highway or on the side of the...
Read moreWe came here for lunch after hitting the hot springs on Saturday this last weekend. We had a group of 12 and were in town celebrating our bachelor/bachelorette weekend! The hosts were great! Super friendly and got a table put together for us pretty quickly. Our issue stemmed from our waitress, Chase. As the host was walking us back to our table, she stopped him in front of us and took the menus out of his hands and told him that we’re getting the smaller menus (less food options). That immediately put us off, it didn’t make sense why she wouldn’t allow us to have the full menus, we were coming in to get an array of food, not be served a couple of pizzas to share amongst us. We asked her why she took the bigger menus from us and politely asked for them back, which she was reluctant to do. She had the worst attitude the entire time, was short and snarky. At the end when we were ready to checkout, she gave us one receipt for everyone and when I asked if she could separate the checks, she stared at me like I was an idiot and then proceeded to tell me she could do it but it was going to take a long time. After hearing that, my brother in law ended up just giving her his card to pay for everyone at once and we ended up paying him back for our portions. This is the first time a server hasn’t been courteous and confirmed how the check should be paid/or split. She very clearly didn’t want to be bothered this day and it definitely made what was going to be a fun group lunch more of a hassle. We were disappointed with this experience to say the least. Aside from our servers bad attitude, the food, specifically the fries tasted like they had freezer burn. Not our usual experience...
