I had high hopes for this place, we went after I offered to take my brother out for his birthday and this was where he chose. We had wanted to try them since visiting Idaho back in October but not being able to make it during our trip. As soon as we drove up and saw the piles of trash outside the back of the building, our hopes dimmed.
The plants outside are all dead, and the excuse that it is winter isn't a very good one. It just didn't seem as though anyone gave any thought to the landscaping or upkeep outside of this establishment.
The doors and exterior of the building made it appear to be decades old with very little upkeep (I am unsure if that is accurate or not).
Once we entered, a waiter who apparently didn't know that masks are worn over both the mouth and nose, led us to a table. It wasn't too busy and only one other table near us filled with patrons after we arrived.
Once seated, we noticed the décor was a bit lacking and the furniture seemed to not have been updated in the last decade.
We quickly received 2 glasses of ice water and a set of silverware that was pre-wrapped in a paper napkin and sealed with a paper strap. My brother pointed out that not only did we get iced water without asking, his glass came complete with lipstick marks from the last person who used it.
Upon removing the silverware from the paper napkin, we both noticed that none of them had been washed properly and they all had food and water stains all over them. When the waiter returned to take our order, still wearing his mask off his nose, we asked for another set of silverware. Only 1 was returned after a short while and my brother was forced to try and clean his on his own.
The food arrived, the appetizers we had ordered were the Boston clam chowder for me, and the truffle fries for my brother. I will note that Boston clam chowder is the white chowder, also known as New England. It is not the red style also known as Manhattan.
My soup arrived and was hot and tasty, I asked the waiter if it was home made and he replied in the affirmative. My brother's truffle fries were equally good, crunchy but not burnt, and the truffle oil and catsup they came with complimented them nicely.
Our main course arrived and mine was a chicken Caesar salad, spaghetti and meatballs for my brother.
My brother seemed to enjoy the spaghetti and meatballs and finished his meal straight away.
My salad on the other hand, was overly lacking in dressing and barely had any parmesan cheese on it at all. The Romaine lettuce was also not very fresh, many of the ribs were turning brown and/or purple. I ate half the salad and was done. On a positive note, the cut up chicken pieces were the saving grace and were cooked nicely and were tasty.
Overall, our meal, along with 1 cranberry juice and 1 apple juice, came to $50.00. While this isn't a lot of money for a meal out at a restaurant, it felt like a Denny's meal more than a famous Italian eatery.
We agreed we'd not be returning to this place again, and were left a bit disappointed we had chosen this place to eat my brother's birthday meal at.
One final note: While the waiter failed to wear his mask properly during the entire time we were there, he was very attentive, polite, knowledgeable and...
Read moreI usually never write reviews, but I had no other choice. I attempted to write the manager or owner privately, but the website doesn't have an option to contact.
I stopped in to Papa Joes at an unbusy time. When I walked in, I ordered a salami sandwich, and waited for it to be ready. Out of nowhere, the head chef started raising his voice aggressively towards a female server. It sounded as though he was using his tone to intimidate her. To be clear, the tone and loudness of his voice sounded as if he was about to explode on her in anger, or worse, if she said one more word.
As someone who has worked in the service industry for fifteen years, that is highly unacceptable to behave that way to an employee, let alone to use the male stature and tone to intimidate a woman. This was all over the way she rang up a to go. After he was finished yelling at the waitress, he walked through the restaurant and loudly yelled to the party in the back, and asked if she (the waitress) fixed everything for them, and walked back towards the kitchen.
Once he arrived there he started bullying a male server for ordering themselves something to eat once they got to work. This did not seem like coworkers joking around with one another. The dynamic was more like someone in a position of power bullying a server, who just needed something to eat. All of this is happening while I'm waiting for my sandwich. Once everyone gets away from the chef, the manager or owner kindly goes to the waitress and explains what the chef was talking about.
After a total of thirty-five minutes and witnessing pretty inappropriate behavior at the hands of your head chef, I finally got my sandwich. I took it out to my little boy, who was extremely hungry at this point, and see that the sandwich is a piece of dry, untoasted baguette with a few slices of salami on it. I decided to take it back in because this sandwich cost me twenty dollars. I tell the female server and also let her know that the chefs behavior was way out of line for how terrible his sandwich looks. she apologized, even though it isn't her fault, and has the chef make it with the normal veggies and sauce and i finally got to leave.
This was an extremely uncomfortable situation for any of your patrons to witness. Your chef has no business treating anyone that way. When i walked in, i was really excited to try the food at Papa Joes, but after witnessing the chefs behavior and after the food that i received the first time around, there is not a possibility of ever giving this place my business again. Please protect your staff and...
Read moreWe decided to stop in today for an early family dinner and let me tell you I failed horribly when I picked this place. Let me start off by saying that it is a real bummer as it's not as easy for us all to get together often as we all live in different towns and have crazy conflicting work schedules so it is a real bummer that this experience was so bad. We came in with a total of 10 people 5 adults and 5 children so it was no surprise when they put us in the back room. However it felt like we were constantly forgot about back there. The only thing we ordered that we recieved in a timely manner was water which came out in paper cups . I thought that was rather odd but ok sure no big deal. After we got our water it was 20 min until we were checked on again at which point we ordered the remainder of our drinks. (sodas lemonades etc) Our drinks took awhile to come out and we ordered our food 2 pizzas, 3 sandwiches, a pasta hot wings and a salad. (We were then offered coloring items for the kids which we never did receive) At this point the server knocked over the high chair that luckily was empty as baby was being changed.(upside down high chair with car seat in it. I get they aren't safe but as a server that brought it to the table wouldn't you think to be extra careful? It was covered so he had no idea baby wasn't in it. I get it accidents happen however it was part of our bad experience.) Our food took forever I am not even sure how long it was. The server comes out and says "Some of your food is ready. Do you want that now or do you want to wait?" Of course we asked for it now as we had hungry kids. My salad was forgotten about, 1 member had to ask for bbq sauce 3 times as the server kept telling us he forgot. We had raw meatballs on our sandwich, over cooked pasta undercooked pepperoni pizza that even the kids didnt like. We were offered a to go box for 1 of the pizzas and after weighting 15 min or so we were wondering where the server was and we saw him taking out the trash. We had to flag him down because again he forgot. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Horrible food and service! I should of just taken the kids to McDonald's and avoided...
